Chapter 3002. Doing More

Walker had considered that a lot of things had been changing. Small interactions like this were bound to become commonplace as different people saw opportunities.

Some would be ideal to move the world forward. Others would be rough and filled with their own greed or desires over the betterment of the people.

This situation was taking advantage of other people’s beliefs in one another to pursue more riches. It wasn’t wrong in the greatest sense that it was directly hurting people. It was just putting in motion unsavory events. It wasn’t something that everyone would be happy to deal with but Walker was glad he had caught it before anything worse happened.

He also felt that there was more to it all as the merchant guild had not set up a permanent building here in the forest elf territory.

It was the same as the adventurer’s guild spreading out and beginning to develop more buildings to monitor the actions of adventurers.

If this was the case for the merchant guild, then the other guilds needed to ensure that they placed buildings sooner than later to ensure that there were groups properly enforcing the alliance laws everyone agreed on.

He also believed that it would help everyone share knowledge as times changed.

There were a few spots in the forest elf territory that could have used a little of the newer technology or magics being developed.

Specifically, Walker was considering the dwarven golems being made lately.

Many were produced for the spirit race so that they had more physical bodies and safer manas storages so they could better interact with the world as a race rather than with their mana. This had been a larger focus for golem production and also helped them develop classes that were not necessarily related to their form as a mana based race.

But, that did not mean all of the golems made were specifically for them.

Some still focused on guard duties, exploration of waterways and caverns, and specifically building.

The golems made for building were always prepared to be used in heavy lifting and moving of larger materials. Within the forest elf territory, it could be used to better manage the land.

Walker saw some older rotting tree limbs being moved and the number of elves working on it was larger than if two golems were used. So why were the golems not being made with this in mind?

Walker knew that some of the races of Genesis did not like the ideas and technologies of other races. However, if there was a crafting guild building within the forest elf territory then there could be a different style of golem invented and used here.

One that focused on the materials readily available for the elves in their own territories. Ones that would be made to better protect the areas that they traveled without damaging anything within the forest.

Therefore, why couldn’t they be made?

That was the question lingering within Walker’s mind.

He also found himself wondering about the abilities to make temporary golems and if he should return to thinking about that so he could utilize himself better.

He had discarded such a thought before since he did not want to be absent as much when he could use teleportation magic to make himself be where he needed to be.

Yet, this didn’t feel like the best approach now.

Couldn’t he do more if he could do what the true sages did and make temporary golems to communicate and help certain areas?

Or would that be too much and leave people unable to face hardships without him to grow themselves as well?

He was dancing a thin line that could be too much or too little if he did nothing or did something. It felt like there was not a right answer and at the very least he could learn these things so that he was better at developing his skills overall. Especially in his reach for mana usage and distance of mana manipulation as a whole.

His thoughts were also getting more and more spread out from just one thing.

There were benefits to having skills that could split his thinking and keep his mind organized. The mental archive skill had been one of the most valuable skills for him since he didn’t easily forget things.

As he learned more and focused more, Walker found that he was limited and temporary golems could solve those issues.

He could work on more than just one thing at a time.

Was that feasible though? Should he do that?

Wouldn’t making golems that were not temporary be better? Couldn’t he use the flame doll or elemental doll skill and temporary golems to make something a little more permanent?

Wanting to check on the floating island project, elemental dome project, altering dungeons, exploring more about the elemental planes and new races coming to work with Genesis or join the Genesis alliance as a whole, and everything else that could appear at any moment.

So you learning a thing or two about golems and building a couple that he could use as secondary bodies be a bad thing?

His mind was changing more and more until he ended up settling down in the mansion’s workshop. The wandering blacksmith wasn’t here as often due to the other tasks and goals lately leaving it free for Walker.

Not that he couldn’t use the portable forge skill, he just wanted to have more availability without using what he had stored away. He’d preferred that it be there for when he needed it and didn’t have the tools or materials readily available. It was just safer to keep some things at the ready just in case.

Looking at the materials here and what he envisioned, Walker was stumped.

He’d seen the blueprints for golem designs. He’d used unique materials. He’d even crafted with some of the best crafters in all of Genesis and most likely the world if anyone was measuring these things.

But was he able to make golems by hand and somehow use magic to attack his consciousness?

No not in the least.

Attaching his mana and making it work under his abilities was already tough. He’d have to use the right rune formations and mana threads along with other magic manipulation skills he learned as he went.

He knew he should have the advantage if he were to utilize the eternal codex as a central focus for all of this.

The issue was the mechanical and forging side of things. He didn’t have the experience and skills to just do that. To just pick up papers and make blueprints from memory.

Yes, he remembered how it was all down but that didn’t mean he had the working knowledge he could put to use to easily create.

He lacked the years of experience that many golem crafters used to do this.

He also knew that those he worked with before would be too focused on their own work due to the current economic boom to help him with this. So, that left him stumped.

"It would be best that I check on Su and those two younger crafters first." He made the decision since he could check on them and also speak to the wandering blacksmith.

They had worked together and this could be something that really makes him want to test his skills. Not to mention that the wandering blacksmith constantly tested his own methods of forging. The odds that he had learned even more recently could be higher than what Walker or anyone expected.

As he made the move to leave, he caught sight of a few blueprints on the wall.

Nothing that the wandering blacksmith had been working on. They were already completed projects.

Shields he made for Su. The armor set made lighter for Gil to love more easily. The first set of elemental knuckles he made for Remey. Even the small armor pieces he’d made for Midnight and Onyx. Even more so, the various designed for when he helped Walker make the eternal codex.

The wandering blacksmith kept them all and carefully posted them. Not as projects he was still working on, but projects that the wandering blacksmith was leaving there to remember clearly.

It made Walker hesitate to rush away and almost stay here and just remember the moments. Remember that they had made different small forge furnaces with unique elemental spirits living within them influencing the flames.

Allowing them to forge with mixed manas adding and removing properties from the metals used.

And that right there was why he solidified his need to work with the wandering ballast.

If the golems Walker wanted to make to use as extensions of himself would work properly, they needed to be unique. Not the same as the eternal codexes, but close.

Perfectly influenced by the manas Walker wished to use while also prepared to extend to himself.
