Chapter 3025. Steps Forward
Chapter 3025. Steps Forward
"I will take seven of them." Walker casually collected another set of tools.
He had been walking through the merchant streets buying up tools for the ideas he had. Not to just bring with him, and not just to use. He wanted to bring the different elemental tools for various crafting forms to the elemental planes with him and Su.
He knew that he would be able to learn a lot more knowledge to bring back with him this way than if he did not.
If there was anything he knew, new tools and new ways of crafting would attract many people to his trades. That was already the case within Genesis within the crafting guild, so if he kept offering new tools that could change the ways that a crafter then he would have more positive movements in his learning of other races he may never have met.
Then again, he had also bought some herbs that could survive within singular elemental affinity areas. That might even thrive better in such areas if he was able to allow them to be planted or traded.
The seeds, roots, and other dormant forms of herbs had become a lot more available as Genesis grew. Some shops with older herbalists even focused on just selling these things to young herbalists just starting to grow their own gardens or simple potted herbs.
It was a great way to begin gathering experience and also to keep themselves from failing as a whole. Plenty of young farmers or herbalists worried that they would make bigger mistakes causing them to lose every single seed or herb root they planted.
So starting small was always the best option. Especially if they did not fully grasp the intricacies of their own skills just yet.
As he moved through some of the last stalls on the street he had been walking, Walker noticed quite a few junk shops.
Stalls and actual storefronts that sold junk parts from crafters.
This would be often reused in the blacksmithing or wood working side of things. Not just because the materials could always be reused, but simply because some of them could be entirely broken down and made in to base materials yet again.
That didn’t mean that every single crafter wished to use their spare or scrap materials to make new things. Instead, they preferred to sell them and get the gold coins from such a sale to purchase new materials like refined ingots or logs.
It just worked better for them this way.
For the youngest crafters, this option was a nice trick. They could purchase scrap and be able to use it in their tentative crafting means.
For Walker, it was a chance to grab a few chunks of damaged metals and woods that were smaller but had value. He also saved a decent chunk of gold that he could reserve for other things later.
Not that gold was of a concern for himself and anyone within the party. But he also knew that funding other projects was a more valuable use for the gold that he could spend here when he would be often giving a lot of items away as he traveled.
That was just how he could build more positive bonds with other races.
When he noticed that Mordant was in front of him looking at a pile of Scrap, Walker found it odd.
"I take it that you are looking for something specific?" Walker caught the dragon’s attention easily since Mordant easily sensed that one of Walker’s golems was approaching.
"Yes, I have found that several pieces of a dark elemental metal are lost to scrap areas like this. They cause decay in other materials and the appraisal skills needed to ensure that it does not harm others is not common. I have several dragonkin examining areas like this."
This was an inevitable event. Plenty of scrap and materials moved through Genesis. There was always a chance that something dangerous would not be appraised.
It was another reason that people would not always wish to purchase scrap like this.
"It’s good that your dragonkin and yourself can search for it and handle it." Walker did not hide the fact that he was in fact glad some people focused on these things. It was a valuable job for some to pursue.
"We are handling it. I am not needed for it." This brought Walker to focus on Mordnat even more. "I waited for you since I have discovered several of my dark dragon elders wish to grow stronger. They wish to go to the dark elemental plane when you leave next. So can you take them?"
So Mordant had made an important decision to allow that freedom to some dark dragon elders. Those old enough to change their form in to a dragonkin form but lacking in mana to move through the next steps to become stronger or pursue a more ancient path of growth alone.
He had also waited here where he knew one of Walker’s golem bodies would roam so that he could ask for help. It was polite in a way but also somewhat roundabout.
Meaning, that Mordant was worried about this and just couldn’t admit this out loud.
"You would be sending a lot of your strength away then?" He didn’t need to see Mordant confirm this. Walker could tell these must be stronger elder dark dragons who made a big difference for the dark dragon side of the dragon race.
"I will make sure that they get to the dark element plane and can begin what they need to do. I know that they might not all come back or they might not move in the same ways you do toward being a dark dominator dragon. Not that you are staying on that path entirely yourself, right?" This was another fact that many did not realize.
The royal dragons might be dominator dragons, but they are also taking unique paths as royals and leaders of their race entirely. They were creating new paths that potentially never appeared within their race as a whole.
"The dragon race is very united right now. It is different from a lot of your history. Now, you have the support of the other dragons and not the opposition. You should take full advantage of that since I have a feeling the next generation of hatchlings you see will have multiple affinities."
This was a little more of a hint than anything.
Whether the royal or elder dragons realized it, many of the younger dragons had begun to see one another as equals. They even shared more of their lives with one another than they allowed their leaders to see. Every single race was mixing within Genesis in some way, shape, or form. The Dragons were one of those races too.
"Four will go with you then. I will have them await you near the bridge to the elemental planes. They are ready to move forward. The others need time and I will ensure that they do not interrupt your next journey." Mordnant promised and thanked Walker with a glance. His eyes said everything before he disappeared in to the shadows to go to speak with the elder dragons.
As Walker continued on, he realized his other golem body with Su was feeling more adjusted tpo the environment. When he looked within it, the mana flow had changed and become more natural.
It happened because he’d realized that Fleur had rested within that golem body and could move about to different golem bodies. The unspoken bond between Walker and her was much more spiritual, apparently. Related to his will and maybe his soul.
Whatever the case, he realized that she was helping him to gather more mana to be ready for an adventure. Helping his golem bodies be in the best possible condition.
He smiled to himself as he felt every golem body growing more familiar. While he was fully focused on Alice and the world within the demi-human lands, he also felt more connected with Genesis too.
Alice noticed him walking more calmly. The atmosphere around him seeming to radiate the same calmness in the mana that Walker used to sense the surroundings at all times. She also noticed he was walking with a slightly wider smile than normal. Proof that he was doing more and more that brought him joy.
"We have plenty of people to help here, Alice, but we need to rest sooner than later too. I don’t want anyone to be overworked here either." Walker teased her knowing that she had barely broken a sweat helping out some of the farmers and instructing younger healers.
He was very happy with his choice to come with her and live side by side with her. He also felt that he’s stepped another small move closer to how he should be acting within the world. How he should be growing.
