Mesmerizing Ghost Doctor

Chapter 4840: Death by a thousand cuts

Chapter 4840: Death by a thousand cuts

“Want to escape?” Feng Jiu smiled coldly, her gaze fixed on his expression. She knew he was desperately seeking an exit. A chilling smile played on her lips as she glanced at the net she’d cast. “I’ve modified this net. Even if something could escape, it won’t be able to break free from the net I’ve set up. Today, you won’t be able to escape from my grasp.”

Hearing her words, the Great Emperor Northern Flame’s heart sank. He had indeed been trying to find a weak point in the net, and her words confirmed she knew his every thought. However, he refused to believe he was truly trapped!

“Vermilion Tiger! Come out!” he roared. As his voice faded, a flash of fiery light appeared, and a majestic flying tiger with a pair of wings soared into the air. It let out a deafening tiger’s roar, vibrating the very air around them.

“Roar!”

With the tiger’s roar, a powerful current of air radiated outwards. It bared its sharp claws, its tiger eyes glaring, and flapped its wings, staring at Feng Jiu with a mixture of caution and fear. This apprehension stemmed from its sensing the potent aura of an ancient divine beast emanating from the human woman before it.

Even as a Super Sacred Beast, it was no match for the power of an ancient divine beast. The Vermilion Tiger, though summoned from its spatial realm, dared not approach. Instead, it took a hesitant step back and let out a low, trembling howl. This human, it was afraid of her.

Seeing his contract beast retreat the moment it appeared, the Great Emperor Northern Flame felt a surge of extreme frustration! But he also knew that Feng Jiu’s contract beast was the ancient divine beast Fire Phoenix, against which his Super Sacred Beast stood no chance. Therefore, he hadn’t intended for his contract beast to engage Feng Jiu directly. Instead, he wanted it to locate the weakest point in the net while he continued to hold her off, thereby creating an opportunity for their escape.

“Go! Find the weakest point in this net!” he bellowed, ordering his contract beast to swiftly find a way to breach the formation. If all else failed, its flame power should at least be able to weaken Feng Jiu’s formation somewhat. At that point, even if he had to expend all his remaining strength, he would shatter this damnable net!

Feng Jiu glanced at the Super Sacred Beast, then at Great Emperor Northern Flame, who was clearly struggling. She offered him no quarter, no chance to recover his breath, and attacked again with the Blue Edge in her hand. This time, a searing flame wrapped around the blade of her long sword with a whoosh, circling the Blue Edge like a fire dragon.

The two figures clashed back and forth, with Feng Jiu primarily on the offensive and the Great Emperor Northern Flame mostly dodging. As the Emperor gradually lost his ability to keep up, he suffered more and more wounds. His robe was already stained crimson with blood, its original color indistinguishable. Feng Jiu did not aim for an immediate fatal blow; instead, she slashed at him repeatedly, as if intent on making him endure every agonizing bit of pain before his ultimate demise.

“Arghhh!” A piercing scream tore through the air as Feng Jiu thrust her sword into his thigh. He plummeted from mid-air, crashing heavily to the ground, spitting out a mouthful of blood.

“Feng Jiu! If you want to kill me, just do it! Why torture me like this?” The Great Emperor Northern Flame glared at her furiously, his body covered in countless wounds, both large and small. Each wound burned with the icy sword energy and the searing heat of flames, as if fire itself was consuming his bones and flesh, causing him unbearable agony.

Feng Jiu slowly descended from the sky, her long sword pointing diagonally towards the ground. She looked at the Great Emperor Northern Flame lying before her, and an exquisite, cold, and almost bloodthirsty smile touched her lips.

“Because of you, my husband is in a deep sleep, with only a trace of his soul remaining,” she began, her voice low and dangerous. “Because of you, my child had to leave my side to seek safety. If I don’t make you taste a life worse than death, how can I live with myself for treating me as your mortal enemy?”
