Chapter 4862: You’ve Come to the Wrong Place
The man was in his prime, muscular and well-built, with a handsome face. He wasn’t particularly good-looking, but he was definitely a tough guy.
The old woman had white hair and a wrinkled face. She was old and didn’t look like she had much time left to live. However, the two got along like husband and wife, and their behavior was full of affection and tenderness.
From a distance, Song Mi’er couldn’t hear what they were saying very clearly, but Feng Jiu could. It was the quiet coexistence of ordinary people, ordinary yet filled with warmth and deep affection, with expectations for life and the future.
Feng Jiu’s gaze couldn’t help but linger on the two people embraced by the man, with the woman’s head resting lightly against his chest. With her cultivation, Feng Jiu could see that the man was not young, but because of his strength and cultivation, he was able to maintain the appearance of a middle-aged man. The old woman spoke with a weak voice, probably because she had fatal internal injuries and was in her final moments. From her breathing, Feng Jiu could tell that she had at most three to five months to live.
However, even though the old woman’s beauty had faded, the man’s face was full of tenderness and affection. Feng Jiu couldn’t help but be moved. This was definitely true love.
“Sister, isn’t that old woman the middle-aged man’s mother? Why is she hugging him?” Song Mi’er looked puzzled and asked in a low voice.
“It looks like they’re husband and wife,” Feng Jiu said with a hint of tenderness in her eyes.
Hearing this, Song Mi’er was stunned for a moment. She looked at the two people leaning on each other but didn’t ask any more questions. Instead, she looked around and said, “Sister, we’ve searched all over this mountain, and there’s only this thatched cottage and this couple. We haven’t seen Grandmaster Iron’s mansion. So, have we come to the wrong place?”
“Let’s go ask and find out,” Feng Jiu said, stepping forward.
Earlier, Feng Jiu had concealed the two’s aura, so the middle-aged man hadn’t noticed anyone around. Now, as Feng Jiu and the others approached, the middle-aged man hugging the old woman frowned and turned to look at them.
“Excuse me, gentlemen,” Feng Jiu said with an apologetic smile.
“Who are you? What are you doing here?” the man asked, standing up and staring at the two of them.
Song Mi’er smiled sweetly and said, “Uncle, we wanted to ask if the Great Armament Master, Grandmaster Iron, is here on this mountain? We’ve looked everywhere but couldn’t find anyone.”
“There’re no Armament Masters here. You’ve come to the wrong place,” the man said as he put away the teapot and cups and prepared to take the old woman back.
Feng Jiu’s gaze fell on the hoe nearby, and her eyes flashed. The old woman gave the two a gentle, apologetic smile but didn’t say anything and let the man lead her back.
“Sister, he said there are no Armament Masters here! Did we really come to the wrong place?” Song Mi’er’s gaze fell on the two who were leaving. She looked at the simple thatched cottage not far away, frowned, and thought deeply.
Feng Jiu smiled slightly and said, “No, we’re not in the wrong place. This is the right place.” With that, she walked slowly behind the two, watching the vegetables growing in the field.
Song Mi’er didn’t understand, but she didn’t ask. Instead, she followed Feng Jiu and came to her side.
