Chapter 4880: On the Verge of Death

Chapter 4880: On the Verge of Death

“Roar!”

However, the response to her was not from the lion lying in the cave, but from the sound of a beast roaring in the stormy night.

“A beast’s roar?” Yue’er looked out of the cave warily, listening to the sound, which seemed to be coming from not too far away.

At that moment, the lion crouched in the corner heard the roar from outside and immediately struggled to stand up, but it had smelled Yue’er’s medicine, and the medicine had not yet worn off, so how could it stand up?

Seeing its state and hearing the repeated roars outside, Yue’er asked, “Are they looking for you? Could it be the fierce beasts outside that injured you like this? I can hear more than one beast from the sound.”

“Grrrrrr!” It let out a low growl toward Yue’er, its voice tinged with urgency.

“Do you want me to neutralize the medicine?” Yue’er asked.

“Grrrrrr!” It cried out urgently.

Seeing this, Yue’er thought for a moment and said, “Alright, I’ll neutralize it, but you must promise not to attack me.”

“Grrrr!”

Yue’er took out a bottle, brought it close to its nostrils, and let it sniff. After a moment, it stood up and swiftly darted out of the cave.

“Hey, lion, where are you going?”

Yue’er shouted, rushing to the cave entrance, but she didn’t follow it out. At that moment, she saw that the cave entrance was already surrounded by several lions identical to the injured one. Among them, one was as powerful as the injured lion, while the others, though Saint Beast-level, hadn’t reached the peak of their power.

Without hesitation, the six or seven lions charged forward to attack the injured lion. Seeing the fight, Yue’er gripped her dagger tightly and watched the lions battling in the rain.

One of the lions was knocked back to the entrance of the cave. Upon seeing Yue’er standing at the entrance, its eyes flashed with a bloodthirsty ferocity, and it opened its mouth and lunged toward her.

“Roar!”

“Rooooaaaaar!”

However, just as the lion lunged at Yue’er and she prepared to fight, the lion she had helped bandage suddenly pounced from behind, biting the lion that had attacked Yue’er and dragging it back with great force.

However, as it turned to bite the lion, it gave the other lions an opportunity. Almost simultaneously, several lions pounced, using their sharp claws and teeth with relentless ferocity, intent on killing it.

Yue’er stood there in shock. She hadn’t expected the lion to turn around and save her. Though, she was capable of saving herself and wouldn’t let the lion hurt her…

Watching the injured lion being attacked and torn apart by the other lions, its flesh ripped off and blood spilling everywhere, she felt a surge of anger. She immediately gripped the dagger and charged forward.

“Get out of the way!”

The aura of the ancient Sacred Beast surged forth alongside the dagger in her hand, enveloping the lions in an instant.

That was the aura of the king of beasts, the pressure of an ancient Sacred Beast—something those lions could never withstand. In an instant, the lions released their grip and let out a low growl. One of them, struck by Yue’er’s dagger, scattered and fled into the rain-soaked night…

On the ground, rain washed away the bloodstains. The lion with its hind legs bandaged lay dying on the ground, its body covered in gruesome wounds. The most fatal wound was the one on its neck, where it had been bitten…
