Mesmerizing Ghost Doctor

Chapter 4893: Suspicion

Chapter 4893: Suspicion

As soon as Yue’er finished speaking, she waved at him and scampered off into the woods on her little legs.

Seeing this, Xiao Junheng froze for a moment. Forgetting to send a message, he hurried after her. “Wait! It’s too dangerous for a child like you to be wandering around here! Don’t run off!”

Even if he hadn’t met her before, she was still a child of the main branch of the Xiao family. Naturally, he couldn’t let her face danger here. As for the lions that had suddenly disappeared earlier, he never imagined they could be connected to this little girl.

Yue’er pulled out a fruit and ate it as she walked, glancing back at him. Seeing him catch up in a few strides, she wrinkled her nose and said, “Don’t follow me. I’m perfectly safe on my own.”

“Who is your father? Which branch of the family? How did you sneak in? Who brought you? I see you don’t have a teleportation jade token. Who brought you in?” He came up beside her, his gaze fixed on the little girl who didn’t even reach his waist.

Seeing no trace of fear on her face, only a lively, spirited look, he couldn’t help but feel surprised. How had he never seen such a little girl in the family before?

Yue’er’s eyes twinkled as she munched on the fruit, her face breaking into a smile. “I came with Brother Junyan.”

“Junyan? Impossible! How could he bring you into this forest? And if you came together, why am I only seeing you and not him?” Xiao Junheng froze, his voice tinged with surprise.

“We encountered a ferocious beast in the woods and got separated. I have no idea where he is now,” Yue’er replied, finishing the fruit in her hand in just a few bites.

Xiao Junheng watched her finish the fruit in a few bites. His eyes flickered, his brow furrowing slightly. “Given his temperament, he wouldn’t have brought such a young child in here without a second thought. You’re not telling the truth. And that fruit you ate—it was a spirit fruit, wasn’t it?”

Though not the young master of the Xiao family, his father was the current patriarch. He’d seen many things, yet never a spirit fruit like the one she’d eaten.

Even just smelling it, he could sense a potent aura of spirit energy emanating from the fruit. Where on earth had this child come from? Was she truly a member of the Xiao family?

The thought made him tense, prompting him to keep his guard up.

“Since you’ve come into this forest, do you know why we’re here?” Xiao Junheng asked, his gaze fixed on the little figure beside him.

At his words, Yue’er beamed at him, her voice clear and bright. “Of course I know! Because a Sacred Beast appeared here!” Trying to test her? She was no fool.

Besides, that Sacred Beast had only advanced to its current form after consuming her Mother’s medicinal pill. How could she possibly be unaware?

Xiao Junheng was surprised to see she knew, yet a strange feeling lingered in his heart.

Suddenly, the sound of clashing weapons reached his ears. His footsteps halted instantly as he released his divine sense. The next moment, his expression changed. He grabbed Yue’er, who was about to leave, and pulled her toward another direction.

“Go! We must rescue them!”

Yue’er was dragged along, her little face utterly speechless. What kind of people had she stumbled upon? Why were all these Xiao family members like this?

Not far away, several Xiao family disciples were being besieged by a pack of wind wolves. Covered in wounds, their vital energy chaotic, they huddled together, gasping for breath. Gritting their teeth, they gripped their swords, staring intently at the wolves advancing step by step.
