Chapter 4949: Feng Jiu Arrives

Yue’er gasped and rushed toward Mi’er, who lay sprawled on the ground.

At that moment, the soul entity held the soul-binding bell in one hand while reaching out for Yue’er with the other, its voice tinged with darkness: “Come with me!”

When Feng Jiu arrived, she saw the Yu Manor shrouded in a barrier and formation. Her brows furrowed, and without hesitation, she leaped onto the wall. From her vantage point atop the wall, she witnessed the scene below. Instantly, she gathered a stream of energy in her finger and shot it toward the soul shadow below.

“Arghhhhhh!”

The soul entity screamed out in pain, snatching its hand back as its form drifted backward. Its icy gaze snapped toward the intruder.

It was only a woman—ordinary in both dress and features. The sole thing that sent a chill down the spine was the murderous intent lurking within her cold, piercing eyes.

“Who are you? How dare you disrupt my plans!” he snarled menacingly, his vigilant gaze fixed on the unexpected intruder.

Feng Jiu approached Yue’er, giving her a quick once-over. “Are you alright?” she asked.

Yue’er knew she couldn’t reveal her connection to her mother. Seeing her mother approach, she didn’t call out but instead said, ” I’m fine, but he extracted Sister Mi’er’s soul using that thing in his hand.”

Hearing this, Feng Jiu narrowed her eyes, fixating on the object in the soul entity’s grasp. In the next instant, a powerful vortex swirled in her palm, and a burst of flame shot forth, enveloping the soul entity.

Perhaps sensing her formidable power, the entity abandoned all caution and immediately drifted toward the rear courtyard. But how could Feng Jiu let it slip away right under her nose?

“Give me the whip.” As the words fell, she snatched the whip from Yue’er’s grasp and lashed it out with a sharp whack toward the soul form.

The whip darted out with astonishing agility, carrying a terrifying aura as it struck the soul entity’s body with a sharp crack. The piercing whistling of the air accompanied the whip’s strike, followed immediately by the soul entity’s shrill, piercing scream.

“Ssshhhh!”

The Divine Whip—even cultivators couldn’t withstand a single lash from it, let alone this mere soul fragment? Moreover, Yue’er had already weakened it with a previous strike. Feng Jiu’s follow-up lash rendered the soul fragment even more ethereal. The Soul-Binding Bell in its grasp fell to the ground amid its agonized tremors, clattering with a sharp clang.

“Whoosh!”

Flames surged forward, engulfing the soul fragment in their embrace. Instantly, piercing screams rose, each more shrill than the last…

Feng Jiu shifted her spirit energy, and the fallen bell landed in her palm. She glanced at it briefly before turning her gaze to the soul fragment, now reduced to ashes and vanishing into the air within the flames.

This was merely a fragment of the soul, not the person’s true form. Destroying this fragment was akin to crippling one hand of the opponent’s body—a severe wound, yet not fatal. Thus, while the soul fragment was extinguished, the person remained alive.

Seeing the man bitten by the lion fleeing toward the back courtyard, Yue’er hurriedly cried out, “There are still people in the back courtyard!”

“Lion, stay and watch over Mi’er. You come with me,” Feng Jiu said, glancing at the lion before lifting Yue’er and heading toward the rear courtyard.

“Retreat! The master’s soul essence has been destroyed…” The middle-aged man who had fled to the rear yard cried out in panic. Before he could finish, a flaming arrow whistled through the air from behind.

“Ahhhhh!”
