Chapter 1212: Mind Calculation
Chapter 1212: Mind Calculation
Anthony’s eyes snapped to the side as he saw the four of them arrive before him in a blur. Anthony knew there was no way he could outrun these four; it was simply impossible. He had just ascended, and expecting him to outrun four people whose true strength he didn’t even know was nothing but sheer madness.
Although he was the greatest Anomaly in existence, some things were still… impossible.
The being from the Yaksha Race attacked without a shred of hesitation, a smile plastered across his face, his hand moving in a martial chop towards Anthony’s right shoulder. But Anthony simply sidestepped, his body turning with calm ease as he dodged. The movement was smooth and effortless, almost as though he had anticipated the attack long before it was launched. But the moment he dodged, the man from the Asura Race was already on the move, his two upper hands punching towards Anthony’s chest with frightening precision.
Anthony remained calm. His body weaved to the side once more as he moved with the wind of the mountain plain. His hand clamped down on the wrist of the Asura member’s left hand, and without missing a beat, he threw him towards the approaching member of the Rakshasa Race, who moved nimbly.
Anthony didn’t bother attacking the man from the Asura Race or even any of them. At this moment, he didn’t know if he could even tear through their bodies. It was best not to expend energy on pointless attacks that might accomplish nothing.
The man from the Rakshasa Race immediately dodged, not bothering to catch the Asura man as though he simply couldn’t be bothered. But the member of the Asura Race merely twisted midair and landed on his feet despite his bulky body and massive frame, displaying an agility that defied his appearance.
The woman from the Garuda Race closed the distance next with a smile. Her fingers shot forward like spears towards Anthony’s spine. She had come from behind, but Anthony moved as though he possessed eyes on the back of his head. He leaped into the air and performed a high backflip, narrowly avoiding the deadly thrust.
But the moment he landed, the man from the Rakshasa Race moved like a cat, his claws tearing towards Anthony’s chest as the air itself ripped apart. Anthony had already expected it. His body snapped backwards, his spine bending until his back became parallel to the ground beneath them. He felt the air where his chest had been scream past his ears. He didn’t need to be told to know that if that attack had landed, it would have torn his chest wide open without the slightest resistance.
He, who could withstand the explosion of an entire Solar System just a month ago, couldn’t tank a single swipe of a claw at this point in time.
The irony.
Anthony vanished from where he stood, his body appearing before a mountain as he backed against it. He stood in silence as he stared at the four of them with a calm expression. But the four members of the four races weren’t nearly as calm as Anthony… they were surprised.
Anthony wasn’t the first Ascendant they had seen. Anthony wasn’t the first to have tried running away from the slave contract. But one thing had always remained true: whenever the four of them attacked, all of their attacks always landed. After all, what could a being from a Lower Galaxy possibly know or do to defend against them?
Yet, at this moment, they had witnessed someone accomplish the impossible. Sure, they were holding back tremendously, not even moving at their full speed or strength since they wanted to toy with the Ascendant like a cat playing with a mouse. They never planned to kill him. They needed him to sign the slave contract, and that was one of the two reasons why they had restrained themselves so greatly.
It wasn’t that Anthony was simply matching their speed. No, he had done far more than that. Just because the system had been shut down didn’t mean all of Anthony’s awakened abilities and skills had suddenly become useless. Yes, he might not be able to use a few abilities and skills that relied on Mana, as they now had to operate using the new energy that filled the Upper Galaxy, but that was merely a matter of adaptation. He simply had to learn how to manipulate this new energy before he could resume using those abilities and skills as before.
As for those that didn’t require Mana, Anthony was using one of them right now: the Sense Dome.
This was one of the earliest abilities Anthony had obtained from the Sign-in System, and after its evolution, it possessed a distinct ability called Mind Calculation, which allowed Anthony to calculate the immediate future without consuming any energy whatsoever.
Hence the reason why he was able to dodge all of these attacks so swiftly and nimbly. He had simply predicted them before they happened. Mixing that together with Anthony’s ridiculous Battle Experience skill, well… unless the four members of these unknown races decided to raise the tempo of the battle considerably, it was simply impossible for them to catch Anthony at the moment.
“It seems we have a genius on our hands this time,” the woman from the Garuda Race mused as she stared at Anthony’s handsome face.
“Indeed. He dodged all four pincer attacks. It seems we have to increase our strength a little. If not, someone might think the Upper Galaxy is simply too easy and get the wrong idea,” the man from the Rakshasa Race stated, his cat-like eyes still fixed on Anthony.
“This is getting interesting. Amongst the ten Ascendants I’ve seen, he is the first to surprise me,” the man from the Yaksha Race, who looked like an Elf, spoke with visible amusement.
“Let’s teach him a lesson, shall we?” the man from the Asura Race stated as he seemed to be the most eager amongst the four.
All of them possessed weapons on their bodies, aside from the man from the Rakshasa Race, whose cat-like claws were obviously his weapons. But none of them made any move to draw them.
They seemed intent on settling this with pure martial arts.
Anthony didn’t speak. He was simply thinking of how to escape this entire situation. Of course, he could simply sign the contract with his soul on the line. Then, when the opportunity presented itself, he could escape, as he knew his soul would receive zero damage. That way, he could at least gather information about the Upper Galaxy, stabilize himself, and operate from the shadows while using the contract as a disguise.
But Anthony wasn’t that type of person. He was the straightforward type of guy. So, he wouldn’t resort to that plan unless they caught him. Until then, escaping remained his number one priority.
He simply entered a martial stance and waited for them to attack first, for throughout this entire battle, he wouldn’t be making the first move for any reason whatsoever.
