Chapter 1278: Visiting A Peculiar Someone-2

"Not going to attack?" Anthony asked, his body leaning sideways against the wall. "Then stop putting on airs," he mused.

The Second Supreme Monarch gritted his teeth. He wanted to rip this foolish Human to shreds. He wanted to drink his blood, he wanted to eat his flesh, he wanted him to scream for mercy and beg for forgiveness.

But alas... delusional could only remain just that... delusions.

Besides, he knew that Anthony had half of his soul. Although he didn’t know how, through the half of that soul, he knew Anthony transferred the pain and torture he dealt to the half he possessed to the other half that was within his own Demon body. And that pain was unbearable on every level. How was he supposed to find a soul-type treasure capable of restoring or protecting soul when he was nothing more than an S- Rank Demon?

The Second Supreme Monarch also knew that his amazing talent, which had allowed him to cultivate with the speed of a genius, was gone. After all, he had spent over a year now at the S- Rank without an ounce of progress. If it wasn’t for his battle experience, combat acumen, and experience spanning thousands of years, he would have died like any low-ranking Demon out there.

He blamed his now-lowered talent on the fact that his soul had been severed. If not for that, he would have been at the SSS Rank at least by now, with his experience as a Supreme Monarch boosting his cultivation progress.

What he could never guess was that this was a result of a curse Anthony placed on him.

"What do you want?" he asked as his killing intent started to vanish, but the coldness in his eyes remained.

Anthony stared at him for a moment before speaking with a shrug. "What could I possibly want from you? You have nothing to offer," he replied, his tone flat and indifferent as his sky-blue eyes met the Second Supreme Monarch’s black ones.

"Then why are you fucking here?" he scowled as he stared at Anthony.

"To gloat over your miserable condition, of course, and mainly because I’m bored too," Anthony replied calmly, his smile returning.

Hearing Anthony’s words, the Second Supreme Monarch was rendered speechless. Anthony, a boy who had wiped out the Demon Army, killed the Demon King alongside the Angels and a God from another Galaxy, someone like that had simply come here to gloat?

He simply couldn’t believe that Anthony could stoop this low.

"Surprised?" Anthony asked.

But the Second Supreme Monarch didn’t reply. He simply had no words. He had no words for Anthony. He simply blamed him for his current condition. He had been at the peak of power within the Army and on Blue Planet, second only to the First Supreme Monarch, whom he was certain he could have surpassed in a couple of centuries. Only for this freaking Human to ruin everything.

Anthony was literally reading the Second Supreme Monarch’s thoughts in real time. He couldn’t help but laugh at the thought.

"Wow! Your thoughts are really unique," Anthony spoke again. "Even after spending over a year here, you still haven’t come to the conclusion that everything that happened to you was your fault? Your arrogance and pride as the Second Supreme Monarch have truly blinded you and clogged your brain," he added in a demeaning tone.

Hearing Anthony’s words, the Second Supreme Monarch’s angry expression changed into a frown. He had never blamed himself for anything. He was a Vampire; how was thinking of drinking the blood of a mere Human wrong? The strong should prey on the weak. But the Second Supreme Monarch seemed to be forgetting that he was the weak one here, and that he was no longer the Second Supreme Monarch.

How could he let go of all the ego, power, mentality, and authoritative demeanour he had built over thousands of years in just over a year after becoming a Demon? His pride wasn’t that easy to discard.

"Yes, I attacked you, so what? Haven’t you attacked other people before in your life?" the Second Supreme Monarch asked indifferently, never taking the blame for his condition.

Well... not that Anthony needed him to blame himself.

"You really are cocky, arrogant, and confident for someone in your position. It’s really amazing each time I hear and see you speak," Anthony couldn’t help but reply, as it was simply a marvel every time.

The Second Supreme Monarch smirked as he responded, "If you wanted to kill me, you would have. But it seems you don’t want to for some reason. And besides, I do not fear death. Why would I be afraid of you?" His tone was condescending.

And indeed, he didn’t fear death. As someone who had fought for thousands of years and lived this long, he had never feared the outcome. But at the same time, he knew Anthony was never going to kill him.

Anthony stayed silent for a moment before speaking. "I won’t deny it. But it’s not like I can’t kill you; it’s just that I don’t want to kill you because you are my only source of entertainment," he said calmly. "You are my only enemy who has fought me and lived, so I guess that’s a record on its own... but you forget, Second Supreme Monarch, that some fates are worse than death," he stated in finality.

The Second Supreme Monarch immediately frowned, wondering what Anthony meant by that. He immediately braced himself for the pain that Anthony might transfer through the split soul torture. But the pain never came.

"You know... after my Ascension, I’ve learned a great deal of new things," Anthony spoke with a smile.

’Ascension?’ the Second Supreme Monarch thought to himself in confusion, as this was the first time he had heard such a word used in this context.

Anthony didn’t explain. With a smile, his Law Of Fate seemed to hum as, the next moment, before the Second Supreme Monarch’s eyes, various Threads Of Fate appeared, each one branching off into countless others, with the Second Supreme Monarch appearing within every single Thread Of Fate.

Anthony was about to use his Law Of Fate to mess with the Second Supreme Monarch. Although his Law Of Fate hadn’t reached the Embodiment Stage and was still at the Law Enhancement Stage, it was more than enough to affect someone as weak as the Second Supreme Monarch.
