Chapter 1285: River Of Night
Chapter 1285: River Of Night
Chaos Betroth waved a hand the moment she stepped out of the hall, and a huge floating ship appeared in midair. It seemed like a large ship that should be used at sea, yet for some reason, it floated. Anthony stared at it for a moment, then lost interest the next second, as he had seen many ships like this used by Space Bandits back at the Acarnis Lower Galaxy.
Without a word, Chaos Betroth vanished as she boarded the ship and walked into it. The Above disciples floated into the air as they were all at the Astraforge Rank at minimum, which was the rank required to fly naturally.
Anthony also boarded the ship. He looked around as he took in the engineering of the ship, his eyes shifting towards Chaos Betroth, who seemed to be inputting their coordinates into what seemed to be an orb. After that, she threw a bunch of Origin Essence Stones at what seemed to be a specific compartment used to generate energy to power the ship. The compartment immediately absorbed the stones, and the ship’s internal mechanisms began to hum with great intensity.
Anthony arched an eyebrow, as that was the first time he was seeing money being used like this. Even Mana Crystals back on Blue Planet weren’t used like this. It seemed that transportation in the Upper Galaxy was far more extravagant than what he had been accustomed to in the Lower Galaxy. Or it was just that Chaos Betroth was just that rich and couldn’t be bothered to find an energy source.
The ship hummed, then lifted into the air ever so slowly before beginning to move. The insignia of the Null Sect could be seen on the ship’s body, while a flag also hung on the aircraft with the same insignia, as though warning everyone before they attacked and got killed.
As the large ship soared over the sect, various disciples raised their heads as they stared at the ship, some of them waving and making various noises, some screaming good luck at the disciples, while some simply wished everyone would die so the resources the sect focused on these Above disciples could be diverted towards them, who were the next best people. Their reactions were quite different, but all of them clearly understood the importance of the journey the Above disciples were about to undertake.
And as for the Above disciples, they stood at various parts of the ship’s deck as though they had positioned themselves at the right places for the lesser disciples to see them and praise them. Anthony was also at the deck, but he simply stared at the people indifferently, nothing else, he had no interest in the attention being directed towards them.
As the ship left Null City as a whole, Chaos Betroth increased the speed as the aircraft shot forward, then shook as it blured forward with greater speed. The buildings and streets of Null City quickly became smaller behind them, while the landscape ahead blurred from the tremendous speed of the ship.
As they moved, Chaos Betroth turned towards the Above disciples and spoke.
"We are expected to arrive in ten days, so rest while you can and gather every bit of energy you must," she stated. "Our destination is the River Of Night Territory, the land ruled by an Ancient Organization that focuses on the Law Of Water and related Laws." She paused for a moment, then added, "I wouldn’t tell you to be on your best behavior. If anyone looks down on you or the sect, you are free to fight and beat them up, and if their own protector or guardian comes to interfere, just leave that part to me," she stated in finality.
"Am I understood?" she asked as she met their gazes.
"Yes, Fifth Core Elder," they all replied without a shred of surprise, as they sort of already understood the legend behind the Fifth Core Elder.
Anthony couldn’t help but arch an eyebrow at Chaos Betroth’s words. ’Why does it look like she wants us to cause trouble instead of just reacting to the troubles people would cause us?’ Anthony thought to himself.
’I guess it’s in the Chaos Betroth name, after all. One can’t have such a title and not like trouble or be normal,’ Anthony mused to himself, as Chaos Betroth might be the greatest lover of combat and fights he had ever encountered. Her calm expression made that fact even stranger, because there was almost nothing about her demeanor that suggested she enjoyed chaos as much as her name implied.
Although Chaos Betroth always looked calm and silent, Anthony felt that the Second Core Elder’s name, The Slumbering Storm, also fitted Chaos Betroth just perfectly. She seemed quiet and composed, yet Anthony had a feeling that once she was given a reason to unleash herself, the calmness would disappear completely.
His mind shifted towards the River Of Night that Chaos Betroth had just talked about. He couldn’t help but wonder how the geniuses of the Null Sect compared to the other geniuses from various Territories, after all, the entire Sathor Grand Region was moving for this alone. If so many powerful forces were willing to send their younger generations to participate, then there was no doubt that some truly monstrous geniuses would appear.
After thinking about it for a moment, Anthony shook his head and chose to forget about it. To him, it was almost impossible for the Null Sect to be a peak-power sect, after all, they didn’t even have an Eternal Apex to begin with, while some had it. The difference in strength between the various powers of the Upper Galaxy was clearly enormous, and Anthony couldn’t imagine the Null Sect standing at the very peak without such an existence.
But at least, he felt excited, excited at the thought of meeting these geniuses. If Tory Hale’s innate ability was this absurd, what about other geniuses? It was an intriguing thought, he could only look forward to it.
His eyes shifted towards the Above disciples as they stood on the deck, watching the blurring trees and territories below them. It wasn’t only Tory Hale that had broken through into the Star Monarch Rank; the second- and third-ranked members amongst the Above disciples had also stepped into that same rank. While the other disciples who were one sub-rank lower took a step forward, and those who were at the Perfection Astraforge Rank stepped into the Firmament Rank, as it seemed they had all broken through after Anthony’s battle.
After all, while their Law comprehension might not increase by a huge level unless through some enlightenment, which couldn’t be forced naturally, they could still progress with their Cultivation Rank. Their recent breakthroughs were proof that their combat strength had not been completely stagnant simply because their understanding of Laws had not undergone a major transformation.
Anthony’s eyes shifted to the side, his eyes falling on Chaos Betroth for a moment as he sensed the woman looking at him, but she wasn’t looking in his direction. However, Anthony was sure his senses weren’t wrong, after all, his senses had saved him way too many times.
And indeed, his senses weren’t wrong. Chaos Betroth was looking at him, but not only him, but at all of them, wondering if she should spar with all eleven of them while on the ship in order to increase their combat experience and senses. Her gaze moved across the disciples one after another, as though she were already considering how much pressure each of them could handle.
But Chaos Betroth didn’t know how to approach the matter, as she had just told them earlier to rest and gather every bit of energy they could gather. Asking them to fight immediately after telling them to conserve their strength would be somewhat contradictory.
But alas, deep down, she knew she wasn’t really trying to increase their combat experience and senses, but just looking for an excuse to at least fight or move her body a bit. After all, she had been at the sect for three years now without any chaos or leaving, as she was busy doing other things.
Three years without any real chaos had apparently become too boring for someone like Chaos Betroth, and the eleven Above disciples might just be the perfect excuse for her to finally have a little fun.
