Chapter 809: Secret Behind Death of Sarah’s Father
Chapter 809: Secret Behind Death of Sarah’s Father
Javier chuckled, a slow, taunting sound that echoed through the warehouse. "You really have a short memory." He tilted his head, his smile razor-sharp. "Maybe the accident messed with your brain." He spread his hands, as if offering her a gift. "Let me help you, ghost."
Sarah’s hands clenched into fists, her body trembling.
Javier’s voice turned icy. "Edgar was my man."
Sarah let out a choked gasp, her eyes widening as the truth crashed over her. "What...?" Her voice broke, her mind racing as the pieces fell into place.
Javier watched her, his smile growing. "Oh, now you remember?" He laughed, the sound grating against the silence.
Sarah’s breath came in ragged gasps, but her voice was steel.
"Kill me if you want." She lifted her chin, her eyes blazing. "But don’t think you’ll get away with this." Her voice was a snarl. "You’ll be arrested. You’ll be judged."
Javier threw his head back, his laughter booming through the warehouse. "HA! HA! HAA! HAA!" He wiped a tear from his eye, his voice dripping with mockery. "Arrested? Judged?" He spread his arms, gesturing to the men surrounding us, their guns trained on Sarah. "By who?" His voice turned venomous. "Your police force?"
Sarah’s body tensed, but she didn’t back down. "The law—"
Javier’s laughter slithered through the warehouse like a serpent’s hiss, his eyes gleaming with sadistic triumph as he circled Sarah like a vulture. The police sirens outside grew louder, but Sarah’s hope was shattering like glass.
"You are so much fun," Javier mocked, his voice dripping with venom. "And delusional." He chuckled, the sound grating against the silence. "Police? Judges?" He spread his arms, his smile razor-sharp.
"They are my dogs." His voice turned icy. "They will judge me?" He laughed, the sound chilling. "No, mi querida. They will lick my boots while I watch you die."
Sarah’s hands clenched into fists, her voice shaking but defiant. "You’re finished, Javier. The sirens—" She lifted her chin, her eyes flashing with hope as the distant wail of police sirens filled the air. "They’re here for you."
Javier threw his head back, his laughter roaring through the warehouse. "Surrender myself?" He wiped a tear from his eye, his voice a mocking snarl. "You fool." His eyes gleamed with cruel triumph.
"Do you really think they’re here for me?" His laughter exploded again. "HA! HA! HAA! They’re here for YOU, stupid bitch!"
Sarah’s breath hitched, her hope crumbling as Javier snapped his fingers.
"Bring them in."
One of Javier’s men disappeared through a side door, returning moments later with two police officers—Sergio, the old man from the hospital, and Diaz, his face twisted in shame. Sarah’s heart leapt at the sight of them, her voice desperate.
"Sir—!" She stepped forward, her plastered arms trembling. "Don’t let them go! He killed my brother—!"
But then—
Sergio and Diaz dropped to their knees, their heads bowed in submission.
"Master," Sergio rasped, his voice hollow. "Everything is prepared."
Sarah’s breath caught, her mind reeling, her stomach twisting into knots. "Sir... you—" Her voice broke, her eyes burning with betrayal.
Sergio lifted his head, his expression cold. "I warned you, Sarah." His voice was a blade. "Many times." He shook his head, his tone dripping with disgust.
"Just be a normal cop. Take small cases." His lips curled. "But you never listen." His eyes hardened. "Just like your father." He spat the words. "He was a dumb cop, too."
Sarah’s body trembled, her voice a whisper. "My father...?" Her throat tightened.
Sergio’s lips twisted in a cruel smile. "Your father wanted to report us." His voice was flat, unfeeling. "For accepting bribes from our master." He shrugged, as if discussing the weather. "We had no choice." His eyes met hers, cold and unrepentant. "We shut him up—once and for all."
Sarah’s knees nearly buckled, her breath coming in ragged gasps, her tears streaming down her cheeks. "You—" Her voice cracked. "You killed him...?"
Sergio didn’t flinch. "Diego did." He gestured to the younger officer, who flinched under Sarah’s glare.
Diego swallowed hard, his voice barely audible. "I—I had no choice..."
Sarah’s body shook, her anger boiling over. "You monster—!"
Sergio chuckled darkly, his voice a blade. "Oh, Sarah." He shrugged. "Your father was too honest for his own good." His eyes gleamed.
"Just like you." He leaned forward, his voice a whisper. "But Diego..." He grinned. "He knew how to climb the ranks."
Sarah’s eyes burned into Diego. "You—" Her voice was a snarl. "You killed my father—?"
Diego licked his lips, his voice sickeningly calm. "I had to." He spread his hands. "Your father was going to ruin everything." His eyes raked over her.
"But Master..." He grinned. "He rewarded me." His voice dropped, twisted. "Promoted me fast." His tongue flicked over his lips. "Just like you could’ve been... if you played nice."
Diego stepped closer, his eyes hungry. "I tried to help you, Sarah." His voice was a snake’s hiss.
"But you refused." His fingers twitched, his gaze raking over her body. "You could’ve been mine." His lips curled. "But now..." His voice turned cold. "You’re nothing."
Sarah’s breath hitched, her body trembling as Diego turned to Javier, still on his knees, his voice sickeningly eager.
"Master..." He licked his lips, his eyes raking over Sarah. "I—I like this woman." His voice dropped, twisted. "Before you kill her..." He swallowed, his gaze hungry. "Can I have some fun with her first...?"
Javier burst into laughter, the sound chilling. "HA! Good dog!" He clapped Diego on the shoulder, his smile sadistic. "You know how to have fun." His eyes gleamed. "Go ahead." He grinned at Sarah, his voice a blade. "You’ve already contributed by getting my material back." His laugh was cruel. "Enjoy"
Sarah’s stomach heaved.
She doubled over, vomiting blood onto the concrete floor, her body wracked with violent sobs. "You—" Her voice was a broken whisper, her eyes wide with horror. "You’re all monsters..."
Diaz laughed, a sick, wet sound that echoed off the metal walls. He stepped closer, his boots crunching over the broken glass, his eyes gleaming with sadistic pleasure. "Oh, Sarah..." His voice was a snake’s hiss, his fingers twitching at his sides.
"You should’ve known your place." He licked his lips, his gaze raking over her trembling body. "But don’t worry..." His voice dropped, twisted. "I’ll make sure you remember me in hell."
Sarah closed her eyes, her body shaking as she murmured, her voice barely audible over the pounding of her own heart.
"Jack..." Her lips trembled, her breath hitching. "I’m sorry..." The words were raw, broken, ripped from her soul. "If there is a next life..." Her voice cracked, her tears falling faster. "I will beg you..." She swallowed, her throat tight.
"To forgive me..." Her body shuddered, her voice a whisper. "I was blind..." Her breath hitched, her voice breaking. "So blind... not to see the truth..."
She pressed her forehead against her plastered arm, her body curling in on itself as the weight of her mistakes crushed her. The warehouse spun around her, the voices of the men blurring into a nightmare of laughter and taunts.
Then—
She straightened.
Her eyes snapped open, burning with a new fire—not of hope, but of defiance. Of rage. Of something primal.
She stood, her body swaying but her chin lifting. She backed up, her plastered arms raised slightly, as if warding off the demons closing in.
