Chapter 853: Jayden’s Despair

Chapter 853: Jayden’s Despair

I turned to Martin, my voice calm but laced with an unspoken threat. "Unlock her."

Martin moved without hesitation, his fingers deftly releasing the handcuffs from Jayden’s wrists. She rubbed her raw skin, her eyes darting between the officers and me under my control. The air in the room was thick with tension, her breath still uneven from the horror she’d just witnessed.

I stepped closer, my voice low and deliberate. "Now, go bring Arturo, Lorena, and Lorena’s mother here. I want to see them."

Jayden’s eyes widened, her body tensing as if she were about to bolt. I didn’t give her the chance. "Don’t think about playing any tricks," I warned, my tone leaving no room for doubt. "Otherwise, you’ll bear the consequences."

She swallowed hard, her throat bobbing as she nodded, her fear palpable. "Y-yes," she stuttered.

I smirked, my voice dripping with mock patience. "What are you waiting for? Go bring them here. I’m waiting for you."

Jayden didn’t waste another second. She turned and ran out of the room, her footsteps echoing down the hallway like a drumbeat of desperation.

I shifted my attention to Martin, John, and Larry, who stood motionless, their expressions blank. "Go bring Jayden’s family here," I ordered, my voice steady and unyielding. "Don’t use force. Don’t threaten them. Just invite them."

They nodded in unison, their movements synchronized like soldiers following an order. Without another word, they turned and walked out, their steps echoing in the empty hallway.

I watched them leave, then turned and walked out after them, my hands in my pockets, my expression unreadable. The station was eerily quiet, the fluorescent lights buzzing overhead like a swarm of insects.

The moment I stepped into the main area of the station, I was met with the sight of Jayden standing at the center of a sea of armed officers

, their guns trained on me. The air was thick with tension, the fluorescent lights casting harsh shadows on their determined faces. Jayden stood tall, her posture rigid, but I could see the fear in her eyes—the fear of a woman who had just realized she was out of her depth.

I chuckled, shaking my head as I took in the scene. "Mrs. Jayden," I said, my voice dripping with amusement, "haven’t you seen enough? Why do you want to kill these innocent people?"

Jayden’s lips curled into a sneer, her eyes blazing with defiance. "Innocent?" she scoffed, her voice sharp and cutting. "You stand there, surrounded by the bodies of men you controlled like puppets, and you talk about innocence?"

She gestured to the officers around her, their sunglasses reflecting the harsh overhead lights. "I know your game, Jack. I studied you. You need eye contact for that hypnosis trick of yours. Well, guess what?" She spread her arms wide, indicating the sea of officers. "They’re all wearing sunglasses. You can’t hypnotize them. You can’t control them. You’re trapped."

I couldn’t help but admire her. She was sharp, relentless, and far more dangerous than I’d given her credit for. But she still didn’t understand the depth of what she was up against.

I smiled, my gaze sweeping over the armed officers. "You’re clever, Jayden," I said, my voice smooth, almost complimentary. "I’ll give you that. But you still don’t understand the game you’re playing."

She clenched her fists, her knuckles turning white. "I’m not playing any game," she snapped. "I’m ending yours."

I took a step forward, my voice dropping to a whisper that carried through the silence. "Then why are you so afraid?"

Jayden’s breath hitched, her eyes flickering for just a second. "I’m not afraid of you," she spat, but the tremor in her voice betrayed her.

I raised an eyebrow. "No? Then why are you sweating?"

She wiped her forehead with the back of her hand, her expression twisting into a scowl. "It’s hot in here."

I laughed, the sound echoing through the station. "Oh, Jayden," I said, shaking my head. "You still think this is about justice?"

Her eyes burned with fury. "It’s about stopping you. And I will."

I took another step forward, my voice calm, almost conversational. "You really think sunglasses are enough to stop me?"

Jayden’s confidence faltered for just a second, but she recovered quickly, her voice sharp. "I know they are. Your hypnosis requires eye contact. That’s how it works. That’s how you controlled John and Larry. But not these men. Not now."

I smirked. "You’re half-right, Jayden. Eye contact is the easiest way. But it’s not the only way."

Her expression darkened, her brow furrowing. "What the hell does that mean?"

I didn’t answer. Instead, I let my gaze drift over the officers, my voice dropping to a low, hypnotic tone. "You see, Jayden, fear is a powerful thing. And right now? You’re terrified."

She scoffed, but I could see the uncertainty in her eyes. "I’m not terrified of you."

"No?" I said, my voice soft, almost mocking. "Then why are you holding your breath?"

Jayden exhaled sharply, her chest rising and falling rapidly. She glared at me, her voice trembling with rage. "You’re bluffing."

I smiled. "Am I?"

One of the officers shifted uncomfortably, his gun wavering slightly in his grip. His fingers trembled, his breath coming in short, uneven gasps. Jayden’s eyes darted to him, her voice sharp and commanding. "Stay focused! He’s manipulating you!" she snapped, her own voice trembling with desperation.

I chuckled, my amusement dark and knowing. "Oh, Jayden," I said, my voice smooth, almost mocking. "You still think you’re in control?"

With a flick of my will, I unleashed my telekinesis. The sunglasses on every officer in the room twisted, contorted, and flew off their faces, clattering to the ground in a chaotic rain of plastic and metal. Every pair—except Jayden’s.

The officers gasped, their hands flying to their faces as if they’d been struck. "W-what the—?" one stammered, his voice thick with confusion. "I—I wasn’t—" Another officer clutched his head, his gun dropping slightly as he staggered. "This—this isn’t me! I’m not taking them off! NO!"

Jayden’s face paled. "WHY ARE YOU TAKING OFF YOUR SUNGLASSES?!" she screamed, her voice cracking with terror. She backed up, her hands shaking as she pressed herself against the nearest wall, her eyes darting between the officers and me. "STOP IT! YOU’RE BEING CONTROLLED! FIGHT IT!"

But it was too late.
