Chapter 1851: Thoughts and More Thoughts
Chapter 1851: Thoughts and More Thoughts
’The Apparatus sees all...’
As Adam’s last message to him lingered in his mind, Valyr could not help but recall a couple of memories where the person he was talking to would conjure a barrier around them before they continued their conversation.
Back when he was talking to Vaughn, the latter told him that he conjured the barrier to reduce the risk of the system obtaining important pieces of information from their conversation.
As for Zenith’s case, it mentioned to him that the barrier separated them from the universe, allowing it to continue their conversation.
Although he did not think too much of it while talking with Zenith, after reading through Adam and Eve’s messages, he now realized why they had conjured those barriers while talking to him.
It was to make sure that the Apparatus wouldn’t listen in to their conversation.
The moment he came to this realization, he soon recalled Vaughn telling him the same thing in the past. Specifically, he recalled the man telling him about how the Apparatus listened in on every conversation happening throughout the universe.
’I suppose the Apparatus ignores the majority of it,’ muttered Valyr to himself as the thought came to mind. ’Or rather, the Apparatus only pays full attention to certain conversations the moment those conversations involve certain keywords.’
Though he wasn’t yet sure why Zenith took the caution of keeping their conversation a secret from the Apparatus, there was no doubt in his mind that his conversation with Vaughn would have immediately attract its attention.
After all, the man was talking about none other than destroying the entity that could have possibly listened into their conversation at the time.
’I guess it’s because Veradine is a Creator,’ thought the young man as he brought up the Administrators’ messages in his mind. ’Or well, since Adam and Eve say that the skill I got was a skill of a Creator, then it only makes sense to assume that Veradine is a Creator.’
’...But what makes a person a Creator?’
As he mulled over the question in his mind, the young man thought back to what he had seen while going through Veradine’s life, feeling like he would find his answer there.
Yet, no matter how much he looked through the 25 years he had experienced, the young man did not feel like he had gotten any closer to the answer.
’Should I check through Azradas’ memories?’ muttered Valyr as he continued to ponder over the question. ’After all, just like Veradine, the skill I got related to him is a skill of a Creator.’
Feeling like he was finally getting somewhere, the young man eventually went ahead and scrubbed through the short selection of memories he had of Azradas back in the inheritance.
Going through the parts of the man’s life in his mind, Valyr thought that his search would turn out to be fruitless once again.
But once he got to the part of his memories where Azradas was chained up...
It was there that he realized that he might now know what being a Creator meant.
’So when they mentioned Creator...’
’Were they actually talking about a Creator of the Apparatus?’
The moment that thought dawned on him, Valyr felt as if he had broken through the thin curtain that barred him from finding out the truth.
Though, rather than continue delving deeper into the area covered by the curtain, the young man figuratively took a step back, returning himself to the area he was in before.
’Although the idea makes a lot of sense, I’m still not sure if it’s true.’
Taking some time to sort out his thoughts, the young man took in a deep breath as he composed himself.
’After all, I’m just basing off that one memory I have from Azradas, as well as the hunch that I got from it.’
’Then again, even if my conclusion was correct, there isn’t really much point in me thinking about it,’ he continued, beginning to set his prior thoughts aside. ’Even though I’ve come into contact with these things really early, I’m still mortal.’
’Perhaps my circumstances might be different if I were to come back to the topic once I become a Divine-level being.’
’But for now, it’s just better to keep it in mind rather than try and actively delve deeper into it,’ he warned himself. ’If not, then...’
Thinking about how he might just end up in the Apparatus’ radar if he did, the young man briefly shuddered before letting out a low exhale.
Then, after spending a bit more sorting out his thoughts, the young man closed all of his notifications before taking a better look at the new skill he had just obtained.
Ding!
"Hmm..." Reading through the description of [Seven Realms Origin Essence Physique], the young man quickly took note of the fact that the skill was originally an Energy Gathering Technique.
Considering what Zenith said about it being a modified version of the Full Cycle Ether Gathering Technique, that part of the description more or less checked out.
Though, when it implied that the Full Cycle Ether Gathering Technique was the strongest Energy Gathering Technique to ever exist, Valyr could not help but pause for a bit as he gave it a bit more thought.
’It’s most likely a version of the Full Cycle Ether Gathering Technique that’s been greatly improved upon,’ muttered the young man, feeling like the thought made more sense.
After all, Veradine made the Full Cycle Ether Gathering Technique while she was still a Sage-to-be.
With that in mind, wouldn’t it make more sense for her to create a more powerful Ether Gathering Technique after she became a high-ranking Sage?
Deciding to move past the origin of what eventually became the skill he had just received, the young man soon read through how the skill worked.
’So, it’s like [Prime Azure Refinement Sutra] and [True Mystic Alchemist Master Guardian Physique],’ said Valyr by the time he was done reading.
Just like the two skills he had in mind, [Seven Realms Origin Essence Physique] involved incorporating something into one’s body in exchange for a boost in certain areas.
However, unlike the two skills where the gain was consistent, the boost he obtained in those areas would vary. As to how much it would vary, he would have to practice the skill a couple of times first to get a rough idea.
Then again, what truly set it apart from the two other skills was the fact that the skill incorporated the concept of realms.
’Well, it wouldn’t have the words ’Seven Realms’ in the name if that weren’t the case,’ thought Valyr as he inwardly let out a chuckle. ’I am curious to know what I’d get once I push the skill to a new realm, though.’
According to the skill, ascending the Origin Essence he gathered to a higher realm would give him a series of bonuses that would make his journey to the pinnacle smoother than before.
But before he could even think about ascending Origin Essence, he needed to gather Origin Essence into his body first, which meant that he would have to start off by sensing its existence.
’Since the skill indirectly mentioned that Origin Essence exists throughout the universe in trace amounts, would it be possible to practice the skill here?’
As the question came to mind, Valyr turned to look at Zenith, who looked back at him as if it was just waiting for him to finish going through all of the information that he had received.
Noticing this, the young man went silent for a bit as he sorted out his thoughts.
"I’ve got some questions to ask you."
Hearing those words, Zenith gave him a faint smile in return.
"Go ahead."
"I’m all ears."
