Chapter 1853: The First Step
Chapter 1853: The First Step
"So... does that answer your question?"
"..."
"...Hello?"
No matter how much Zenith called for him, Valyr’s attention was still on the memory the former had sent him.
Then again, with how the memory contained scenes that the young man was not expecting to see, how could he spare any attention to anything else that was happening around him?
Although Adam was a bit vague in the way he had phrased the relationship between Azradas and Veradine, the memory allowed him to confirm that the two had a romantic relationship...
Even though the way he found that out was a lot more visual than he was expecting.
Nevertheless, now that he knew that the two were a couple, Valyr understood the reasoning behind Zenith’s request.
’The bed as their canvas, their passion as their paintbrush...’
Letting his curiosity take over as he looked at the memory for a bit longer, the young man could not help but find it a bit weird that he’d been given a memory that anyone else would consider as something incredibly private.
But at the same time, he also found the entire thing a bit eye-opening since it allowed him to look at the couple from a more grounded perspective.
After all, both Azradas and Veradine were beings whose identities far exceeded the scope of what his current self could handle
Yet, just after viewing such an intimate memory from the two, he was already thinking that the two weren’t any different from people like him.
"Haah..."
Seeing that the couple in the memory had finally reached their limits, Valyr let out a soft sigh as he shifted his attention away from it.
Then, turning to look at Zenith, he took in a deep breath as the gears in his mind turned.
"Say... if I were to experience the remainder of Veradine’s memories, would I...?"
"Who knows?" Zenith shrugged its shoulders, its tone feigning nonchalance. "I have a rough idea of what’s in it, but I have no clue as to what memories you’d specifically experience."
"...Aside from the major events, of course," it continued, prompting the young man to faintly nod in understanding.
Of course, with Zenith having been a part of Veradine in the past, Valyr wouldn’t be surprised if the being in front of him actually knew the answer to his question.
However, there wasn’t really any point in asking the former any more questions about it.
If anything, it would just make him look like a creep if he did.
"Alright." Not wanting to dwell on the topic any further, Valyr shifted the topic of their conversation back to what it was originally supposed to be. "So, about the skill..."
"Right." Inwardly thanking the young man for not pursuing the current topic, Zenith faintly smiled as it dispelled the barrier surrounding them, returning them to the space of the Void Core.
Then, after strengthening its connection with the massive structure before them, it began to do a series of complex hand seals in front of the young man, causing a cloud of eerily white energy to manifest from the tip of the structure’s first segment.
Feeling as if the white energy contained enough power to illuminate the Void Core ten times over, Valyr watched as Zenith willed the cloud of energy to make its way towards them.
Once it was close enough, the latter proceeded to condense the cloud into an orb, causing its color to go from an eerie, more bony white to a white more commonly seen in lilies.
"Although I’m sure you already know what this is, let me introduce it to you." Allowing the orb of white energy to hover by its side, Zenith began its explanation. "This is Origin Essence."
"More specifically, this is Origin Essence that has reached the fourth realm, which is also known as True Origin Essence."
"Just to let you know, there is no functional difference between True Origin Essence and the Origin Essence you create from the first three realms," it said. "However, in terms of aiding someone in practicing the [Seven Realms Origin Essence Physique], having True Origin Essence will come in handy."
Valyr nodded as he listened along. "Because you can see it?"
"In simple terms, yes." Zenith nodded. "But to give you more context, True Origin Essence is the first type of Origin Essence you come across where it takes on a fully tangible form."
"With it, the time it takes for you to sense its existence is reduced to at least a tenth of what it would normally take."
Hearing that, the young man recalled Zenith telling him that sensing Origin Essence in the Void Core would take him five years at most.
And now, with the orb of True Origin Essence in front of him, even in the worst-case scenario, it would only take half a year to do it.
Though it’s still a good chunk of the time he had remaining in the Void Core, it was definitely far less than before!
Noticing the slight excitement in the young man’s gaze, Zenith faintly smiled in amusement as it continued, "Until you reach the first realm of Origin Essence, this orb of True Origin Essence will remain here to help you become more familiar with the energy’s properties."
"Now, try your hand at sensing the energy so you can get started on practicing the skill."
Valyr nodded as he gradually got himself into a meditative state. "Anything to keep in mind while trying to sense it?"
Hearing the question, Zenith went silent for a bit before deciding to give a bit of advice.
"Keep your body and mind fully open. Let the entire universe pass through you."
"...I don’t know what that means yet, but I’ll try."
Faintly scratching the back of his head at Zenith’s advice, Valyr decided to set them aside for now as he slowly closed his eyes.
Then, focusing his senses inwards, he gradually attuned himself to the surroundings, allowing himself to become with the space of the Void Core.
Whoosh!
The moment he felt his senses combine with the Void Core, the young man was immediately greeted by the sight of a unending ocean.
However, the only reason why he knew it was an ocean was because he was viewing it from the side.
If not for that, then the young man would have thought it was just a flat plane because of how black it was.
’I suppose this black ocean corresponds to Void Energy?’ Valyr wondered, feeling like it made the most sense since he was still in the Void Core.
’As for Origin Essence... I should be looking for white, I think.’
Thinking about the orb of True Origin Essence Zenith showed him, the young man felt like it would only make sense for it to appear within this abstract world in a similar form.
And so, the young man began searching for anything white within the unending dark ocean before him...
...Only to then get the feeling that he might just have led himself on a wild goose chase.
