Chapter 1078 Preparations

Liu Mei was sprawled on the ground, lying in a puddle of her own blood as she turned her gaze towards the cave’s entrance.

Then, she saw him.

Shun Long could see the resignation in her eyes slowly turn into a moment of confusion, before settling into a look of unconcealed joy.

Her abyssal eyes turned into crescent moons and a brilliant smile spread across her bloodstained lips as she recognized the old man in front of her.

Then, without a word, with that same smile of contentment adorning her lips, she passed out.

"Mei’er!"

Shun Long felt his heart clench.

With a single step, he crossed the distance and placed a hand on Liu Mei’s chest, on the gaping wound that had stained her robes a bright red color.

Warm blood coated his fingers immediately.

Without any hesitation, he spread out his soul sense and sent it into her body, inspecting her condition.

And the moment he did... his expression changed.

Liu Mei’s face had already turned pale as a sheet, but the moment he felt her internal condition, Shun Long could no longer suppress the killing intent surging in his heart!

Liu Mei’s heart was still beating, thankfully, but the rest of her body was now a complete mess. Her left lung had already collapsed by whatever attack had pierced through her chest and back, and had only missed her heart by a few millimeters.

The wounds on Liu Mei’s chest and back began to knit together and close, while even her tattered robes seemed to revert back to their original condition. The process was slow, but anyone who watched it from the sidelines would be stunned by those effects.

Perhaps only a Dao King who had comprehended the Dao of Life could create a similar scene.

It took half an incense stick of time before the entire process was over, and Liu Mei’s breathing slowed down before it returned back to normal. A fatal wound caused by a Sovereign had been healed, just like that.

And yet, he didn’t seem to care. His eyes still flared with golden light as he turned his attention towards the cave’s entrance, in the direction of Blackstone Haven.

’Lord Xia’ was going to pay, but before that, Shun Long knew he had to break through to the Dao Emperor realm!

Without another word, he let out a breath and stood up, opening a massive space tear. Then, with Liu Mei in his arms, he stepped forward and disappeared from the small cave.

By the time he returned to the shop, Fu Li’s wife was already rushing over, eyes filled with worry.

"Mei!" Lan Jinjing cried out, while Fu Li trailed right behind her.

"Brother! How is sister Liu?"

Shun Long glanced at Fu Li and then Lan Jinjing and said reassuringly,

"Don’t worry, she will be alright. She just needs some rest."

Those words were mainly directed at Lan Jinjing, whose heart was already in her throat.

The young woman’s face was now inches away from Liu Mei’s, as if trying to discern whether she was still breathing or not.

Finally, Lan Jinjing’s expression eased up a bit before she turned to him and muttered a quiet, "Thank you."

"Hahaha, I knew it. Didn’t I tell you it was going to be alright? Who do you think my brother is?"

Shun Long smiled as he watched Fu Li puff out his chest and give his wife a proud look.

A few moments later, he carried Liu Mei back to their room and placed her gently on the bed.

It was time to start preparing for his breakthrough to the Dao Emperor realm.
