Monarch Of Time

Chapter 1082: Silver

Chapter 1082: Silver

The black-robed woman’s qi had only begun to gather when Shun Long’s voice echoed through the arena.

"Monarch’s Domain."

The woman’s arm had been raised in front of her chest, as if to point at her opponent, only to freeze where it was. Even the faint wisps of qi gathering around her body could no longer move at that moment.

Shun Long pushed himself up from the ground and crossed the distance between them, as a purple-colored blade materialized in his right hand. Then, he stopped in front of the black-robed woman and just... pushed it lightly where her heart was.

And it was over. Just like that.

The woman didn’t manage to put up the slightest bit of resistance before her frozen figure broke into motes of white light that drifted towards the sky.

Shun Long watched as a thin stream of that light broke away from the rest and sank into the token by his side. But its color didn’t change.

So he simply sat back down and waited for the next silhouette to form.

For the next two days, the same pattern followed, as one Dao King after the other appeared in the arena, only to freeze under the suppression of the ’Monarch’s Domain’ and have their lives reaped by the spatial blade.

If he were being honest, Shun Long wasn’t particularly enjoying this process.

Being paired with early and middle-stage Dao Kings as a pseudo-Dao Emperor was no different from bullying. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much he could do. Even if everyone’s cultivation base was suppressed to the early rank 1 of Heaven grade, the difference in their respective comprehension of their Daos was simply too big.

Still, with every fight he won, his opponents seemed to become a little bit stronger as well.

By the end of the first day, the color of his token had also started to change into a light purple, and midway through the second, a faint silver sheen could be seen across the edges of its surface.

Then, on the evening of the second day, a figure formed across the arena that finally made Shun Long sit up.

...

The man in front of him had not drawn a single thread of qi, and yet the Dao of Fire around his body pulsed like it was alive. The man’s face was blurred like all the others before him, and his figure wasn’t particularly impressive, but the pressure coming off of him was something Shun Long had not felt in a while.

A peak-stage Dao King!

This person had also reached the absolute peak of the Dao King realm and was only half a step away from becoming a Dao Emperor!

Shun Long’s golden eyes gleamed with excitement.

The invisible figure of an hourglass expanded from his body, as his voice echoed through the arena.

"Monarch’s Domain."

The flow of time inside the arena slowed down once again, and the heat around the man seemed to drag to a crawl... but this time his opponent’s figure did not freeze. The man’s head turned toward Shun Long, heavy and sluggish, before a ring of fireballs flared into being around him.

Of course, the man was still on the outermost edge of the ’Monarch’s Domain’, and the closer one got to its center, the stronger the effect would become. But still, he was holding his own.

The fireballs burned through the air as they flew towards Shun Long, their heat causing the very air inside the arena to turn heavy.

But that was all the resistance the man could pose.

The moment Shun Long took a step forward, the pressure from the ’Monarch’s Domain’ increased even further as the searing fireballs were suspended in mid-air.

The middle-aged man seemed to have noticed it too, because his eyes slowly widened as a look of sheer disbelief covered his face. Unfortunately, that was the last scene the man saw.

The next moment, the figure of a blurry, azure-robed man appeared by his side, before a purple-colored blade found its way to his heart before the man could so much as blink.

Then, his figure broke into motes of white light, just like all those before him.

...

The opponents after that man seemed to be cut from the same cloth, which made the fights a tiny bit more interesting for Shun Long.

They were all pseudo-Dao Emperors who could hold their own against his ’Monarch’s Domain’, even if they were forced to stand at the very edges of the arena. Still, the closer any of them tried to come, the heavier the suppression seemed to become, until one step into the inner ring rendered them helpless.

So Shun Long stopped closing in against his opponents. He stayed seated at the center of the arena and let their attacks clash against his domain.

Surprisingly, each blow that made it into the inner ring seemed to push his comprehension of the ’Dao of Time’ an inch further in the right direction.

His token also brightened with every kill he took, as the last bit of purple finally bled out of it.

And when it turned fully silver, the figure that took shape in the arena next was not that of a Dao King.

This time, the aura that unfurled across the arena was nothing like the ones that had come before it. Every Dao King’s presence had thinned out and faded long before it could reach the center where Shun Long sat.

But this one didn’t.

It filled the entire space the instant the figure appeared, and it kept pressing down on Shun Long with a heavy, unstoppable aura regardless of how far he sat from its source. For the first time since he had stepped foot into the tower, Shun Long could feel his opponent’s pressure bearing down on him, right where he sat.

This was a Dao Emperor.
