Chapter 1365: 1364 block
Lang Yue went to manage the issue of changing plane tickets, while Shang Jin followed Tan Rou. They stopped the police, intending to meddle in some affair.
The two policemen were a bit puzzled and asked, “Ladies, do you need any help?”
Tan Rou answered, “Thank you, but I don’t need help right now, though I can’t be sure whether I’ll need help later.”
The policemen were confused by her words and asked, “Ma’am, do you really need help or not?”
Tan Rou did not directly answer them; she pointed to the little boy the police were dragging and said, “Officer, what do you plan to do with this child?”
The taller policeman said coldly, “He stole someone else’s property, so he definitely needs to make restitution. Moreover, he damaged a lot of the airport’s public facilities during his escape, and he needs to pay for those damages as well.”
Shang Jin spoke out, “He’s resorted to stealing food, where is he supposed to get the money to pay the airport? Moreover, he hasn’t stolen anything valuable, just took a piece of bread. Is there any need to be so harsh?”
The shorter policeman waved them off impatiently, “This is a police matter and has nothing to do with you. You’d better not interfere, or I might take you away as well.”
Shang Jin, not one to take things lightly, seeing such poor attitude from the police of this country, immediately yelled, “If the police in our country were like you, they would have been condemned by the public long ago. Our police would never hit a child, let alone hit him for stealing a piece of bread at such a young age.”
The taller policeman scoffed, “If your country is so great, why did you even come to ours?”
Shang Jin was infuriated, “Do you think I want to be in your country? If it weren’t for the airplane stopping here for supplies, we wouldn’t even be here!”
Tan Rou tried to stop Shang Jin from arguing with them, “Senior, don’t argue with them. This is their turf, and if they take a dislike to us, they might call a bunch of policemen over.”
Shang Jin retorted, “Let them call the police; I don’t believe they can be that powerful.”
Tan Rou held back Shang Jin, who was ready to jump up and scold the police, and then said to the two policemen, “Officer, the child only stole a piece of bread and didn’t commit a grave mistake. Could we possibly discuss this with the stakeholder and let the child go? As for the compensation for the public facilities he damaged, I will pay the airport.”
The policemen were caught off guard, and they asked very curiously, “May I ask what relation you two have with this child? Are you his mother?”
“No,” Tan Rou replied. “I just feel that this child is so pitiful, I want to help him.”
The policemen fell silent for a moment, then said, “Well… how do you intend to help him? We need to clarify; if the reason you provide is unreasonable, we can still refuse.”
Tan Rou said, “First, please let him walk on the ground rather than grabbing his arm. Second, we want to find the person who accused him of theft, have him return the bread and apologize. If the accuser wants the bread, he can buy another new one to give to them.”
“This isn’t something we can resolve. You should go talk to the victim,” said the taller policeman before letting go of the little boy’s hand. However, he immediately cuffed the boy’s hands as if afraid he would run away.
Shang Jin muttered, “They are too brutal. Anyone who didn’t know better would think this young kid committed murder.”
The little boy, looking at Tan Rou with gratitude, said, “Kind big sister, thank you for speaking up for me. If I can return to my own country, I will definitely give you a lot of money.”
Tan Rou smiled and asked, “You don’t understand our language, so how do you know we are definitely helping you? Maybe we lost something and needed the police’s help.”
The little boy tried hard to show a smile and said, “My mom taught me to look into people’s eyes to know who has good intentions and who has bad intentions toward me. I could tell right away. Both of you sisters have beautiful eyes and nice voices, you are definitely good people.”
