Chapter 492: Schemes of the two primordial gods

Chapter 492: Schemes of the two primordial gods

Both Ethan and the Founder appeared on the eighth floor of the castle, the transition occurring without sound or distortion, as though space itself had quietly repositioned them into place. However, the monster that had been pursuing Ethan moments earlier now stood completely immobilized, its massive body frozen mid-motion. Its claws remained raised, its jaws partially open, yet it could not move even a fraction.

The Founder stood beside it calmly, his hand slightly raised. Invisible authority flowed outward from him, binding the creature more thoroughly than any physical restraint could have achieved.

"Ethan, I will teach you a secret technique that will allow you to mask your presence within the gray mist," the Founder said, his tone measured and composed. "Once you master it, the monsters roaming outside this place will perceive you as one of their own, and they will no longer target you unless you attack them first."

Ethan nodded immediately. "Thank you, sir."

The Founder studied him for a moment, as though evaluating something beyond the obvious. "You can remain in that room for now," he continued while gesturing toward a sealed chamber further down the corridor. "I will arrange suitable monsters for you to eliminate. If you proceed steadily, you should be able to reach level ten within one year. And meanwhile I’ll prepare for a soul transfusion for you."

After finishing his instructions, he turned and walked away without waiting for a response.

Ethan entered the designated room and closed the door behind him. The chamber was simple, containing only a flat stone platform and faint inscriptions etched along the walls. He sat cross-legged on the floor, allowing his breathing to slow gradually. The environment was quiet, and for the first time since entering the castle, he had nothing immediate to do.

He understood that by the following day he would naturally break through to level two. However, after the breakthrough, he would require monsters to accumulate the initial points necessary for doubling his growth rate. Without those early points, progression wouldn’t happen.

His gaze lowered.

"I hope Mom, Dad, Rose, and everyone else are safe," he thought silently. A faint chill entered his expression. "Once I reach level one hundred, I will massacre that god clan."

The thought carried no hesitation. It was not fueled by rage alone but by cold determination. He closed his eyes shortly afterward and shifted his awareness inward. Since he currently lacked tasks for his main body, he decided to observe the journey of his clone inside the tower.

His consciousness sank into the connection.

...

"Ethan, wake up. You have been chosen to go to the intergalactic battlefield as an errand boy. Since you are an orphan and cannot unlock your genetic code, this is the only way you can serve," the teacher said in a flat tone.

Ethan’s clone opened his eyes slowly. The classroom around him appeared unfamiliar yet structured, filled with metallic desks and transparent display panels. Students sat in orderly rows, each wearing identical uniforms marked with insignias representing genetic potential levels.

"Intergalactic battlefield?" Ethan murmured quietly. His thoughts moved quickly. "So this world belongs to an advanced civilization with potential reaching the Primordial Realm. I will need to locate the Crimson Mirror here."

He had reincarnated into the body of a fifteen-year-old boy. According to the local evaluation standards, this boy had been classified as worthless. His genetic code remained locked, his physique was weak, and his future prospects were considered nonexistent.

"All right, sir. When do I leave?" Ethan asked calmly.

The teacher looked slightly surprised. "Oh? You are not going to throw a tantrum? That is good to know. A unit will arrive to pick you up soon. Do not leave the school campus. In the meantime, you may practice anywhere on the grounds and eat whatever you want. It will all be free."

"Thank you, sir," Ethan replied.

The other students looked at him with mixed pity and mockery. Being sent to the intergalactic battlefield without unlocking one’s genetic code effectively meant certain death. Errand boys were expendable, and most of them never returned.

Ethan, however, did not appear disturbed. He was more interested in experiencing another life.

A faint interface appeared in his mind.

[Master: Ethan Hunt]

[Physique: 20 kg]

[Spirit: 20 kg]

[Talent: Infinite Comprehension]

The system functions assigned to his clones remained unchanged. This meant he retained the same advantages as before.

"Intergalactic battlefield, huh? No one knows that I will become powerful. Let me play the role of the Young Supreme of the human race again," he thought with a faint smile.

He also sensed that the children of the god race might appear here. Since he had reincarnated into a teenager rather than a child, it implied that others might have done the same. If that were true, then they would also possess opportunities to grow stronger.

Five days passed quickly.

On the morning of the sixth day, a spacecraft descended onto the school grounds. The vessel emitted a low humming sound as its engines stabilized. Its sleek metallic body reflected the sunlight, and advanced thrusters extended outward to maintain balance.

"Look, is that the Falcon 302? That cannot be real. This model only belongs to one team, the most talented group in this generation, Team Ragnarok," a student shouted.

The entire campus erupted into excitement. Students rushed out of classrooms, gathering near the landing area. Even instructors appeared at windows to observe the arrival.

Ethan stood among them, quietly watching the spacecraft.

The hatch opened.

Five individuals stepped out, each wearing streamlined battle suits embedded with glowing energy conduits. Their movements were coordinated and confident. The crowd erupted into louder cheers.

"They really are Team Ragnarok!"

Students surged forward like moths drawn toward flame. The team represented the pinnacle of youth potential in this region, and encountering them in person felt unreal.

Ethan’s gaze shifted across their faces.

Then he froze.

Among them stood a girl with calm eyes and short silver hair. Her posture was disciplined, and her aura carried restrained strength. Ethan recognized her instantly.

It was his younger sister, Erina.

An intense emotional fluctuation surged through him.

At that moment, an ancient voice echoed in his mind.

"Do not panic, young man. We simply wish to make the trial more interesting by bringing your family members into these worlds. From now on, every world will contain all of them. You must find everyone before completing the task, or they will remain trapped within that world forever."

In Elysium, Ethan’s main body opened his eyes. They turned red with restrained fury. He immediately recognized the authority behind that voice. Only the two primordial gods, beings whose power rivaled level one hundred thirty, could manipulate the trials.

"You are playing with fire," he muttered quietly. "You will be burned soon enough."

His tone lacked emotion, yet the intent behind the words was unmistakable.

...

Meanwhile, the students surrounded the five members of Team Ragnarok.

"Sir, ma’am, can we get your autographs?" several voices called out.

"We do not have time, young ones. We are here to pick up our errand boy. Do you perhaps know someone named Ethan Hunt?" the leader, Max, asked gently.

"What? Ethan is the errand boy of Team Ragnarok? How can that poor guy be so lucky?" whispers spread through the crowd.

Jealousy appeared in many expressions. Some students even wished they could replace him.

"Sir, may I ask why you chose someone talentless to join your team?" a handsome young man asked.

"It is a personal matter. Please excuse us," Max replied calmly.

The five members jumped simultaneously and moved toward the school building. The crowd watched them with admiration and envy.

They soon met the teacher.

"I hope you have treated him well," Max said.

"Yes, sir. We have. Should I call him now?" the teacher asked.

"No need. We will fetch him ourselves. What is his room number?" Erina asked.

As they walked down the corridor, they found Ethan already standing in their path.

"Hello, Ethan. It is nice to meet you. I am Max, the leader of Team Ragnarok. You must be wondering why you have been chosen. It is because your parents were friends with Erina’s parents."

Ethan did not respond immediately.

His eyes remained fixed on Erina, as though he were looking at something precious that he hadn’t seen for eons.
