Chapter 1251: Our Lady Must Have This Candy
Chapter 1251: Chapter 1251: Our Lady Must Have This Candy
The clerk quickly sneaked a glance at her and seemed unsure about making the decision on her own, murmuring softly, “I’ll go and ask the customer who bought the sugar.”
After she finished speaking, she then approached Rong Yan, asking in a low voice, “Customer, as you just heard, what do you think about parting with the jar of peanut candy for that lady over there?”
Rong Yan hadn’t expected a random jar of peanut candy she bought to become a treasure. She pinched the bridge of her nose, which ached from the headache, and told the clerk, “I bought it for my son. I don’t really want to sell it.”
The clerk was completely unprepared for her refusal.
After all, a jar of candy worth two hundred could be sold for two thousand, or even more. Anyone who isn’t a fool would sell it.
It’s not as if it’s anything so important, just a trifle for kids to eat.
If she sold this one, she could just as well buy something else at the supermarket. It would be just as delicious.
“Um… well, I’ll go tell that customer,” the clerk didn’t really want to communicate with Jiang Chenyue; Jiang Chenyue only seemed cold, keeping people at a distance.
But the bodyguard beside her looked even harder to get along with.
Before the clerk had the chance to relay Rong Yan’s response to the two of them, the bodyguard, already looking quite displeased, sternly directed his words towards Rong Yan, “Miss, we must buy that jar of peanut candy today!”
His implication was clear: It would be best if Rong Yan was willing to give it up; if not, she would still have to be willing!
Rong Yan raised her eyebrows, having never met someone so overbearing. Just as she was about to say something, she saw Jiang Chenyue looking over at her. When her eyes landed on her, they visibly brightened, “Aren’t you the young girl from the mall?”
“…Mrs. Jiang.”
Jiang Chenyue immediately looked next to her, not seeing the little boy there, showing a touch of regret. But seeing Rong Yan, she still looked very pleased, “I didn’t expect to run into you here again. It seems we really have a bond.”
She really hadn’t expected to run into Rong Yan here. If Rong Yan hadn’t concealed her identity, Jiang Chenyue might have suspected she was one of those girls with ulterior motives trying to get close to her deliberately.
But she had taken the initiative to invite her over, and Rong Yan hadn’t gone to her house. It wouldn’t make sense for her to follow her all the way to a cake shop in a roundabout way.
Besides, if she had been following her, she would have entered after her, not before her already having bought something.
Meeting twice in one day, other than fate, Jiang Chenyue couldn’t think of any other explanation.
This kind of destiny inexplicably brightened her mood. Even though the young girl in front of her didn’t have a name like Xixi, she brought her a different kind of feeling, “You’re here to shop too? What did you buy? Let me pay for you.”
Feeling embarrassed, Rong Yan declined, “No need, I’ve already purchased mine.”
“I see.” Jiang Chenyue glanced over the beautiful cakes in the display case, then suddenly ordered the attendant to, “Wrap up these ones for me.”
The clerk, unaware that the two knew each other, saw her buying several of the shop’s most expensive cakes and clumsily hurried to pack them for her.
After packing them, Jiang Chenyue pushed all the cakes towards Rong Yan. Her well-maintained, noble face gleamed with surprise, “Please take these cakes home. Consider them a thank you for this morning.”
As if afraid Rong Yan would refuse, she insistently stuffed the items into Rong Yan’s arms, “Please don’t be polite with me. I was lucky to have met you this morning, otherwise, I wouldn’t know what to do.”
