Chapter 1481 - 1482: Is There Something Wrong with Your Brain?

Chapter 1481: Chapter 1482: Is There Something Wrong with Your Brain?

Rong Yan used all her strength to sprint towards the busy main road.

The wind howled past her ears. She didn’t dare stop for a single moment, pushing her body to its limits as she ran.

meters.

meters.

meters.

meters.

...

Just a little further and she could turn onto a major road where there were more cars. If people noticed her there, these men might stop chasing her.

Rong Yan clenched her teeth so hard she felt like they might shatter!

The pain from the wound on her thigh had turned numb from the repeated strain. Other than the sticky, wet feeling of blood soaking her skin, she could barely register the pain anymore.

Run!

That was the only thought in her mind.

Her heart pounded wildly from the physical exertion, thumping so hard it felt like it might burst out of her chest.

Rong Yan’s teeth were on the verge of breaking as she silently cheered herself on.

Just hold on a little longer, a little longer, and it’ll be over.

meters!

The major road at the corner was right in front of her. Seeing the hope ahead, she took a deep breath, quickened her pace, ready to make one final sprint to safety.

And that’s when it happened.

A silver-gray van screeched to a halt. With a sharp turn, the vehicle spun and blocked the road directly in front of her.

"Screech!"

The van’s tires scraped the ground with an ear-piercing noise.

Rong Yan couldn’t dodge in time and nearly collided with it.

The vehicle’s window rolled down, revealing a burly man with a vicious expression who wasn’t wearing a mask. He spat out harshly, "I swore before I’d never lay a hand on a woman, so get in the damn van yourself and I won’t make things harder for you. But if you run again, don’t blame me for what happens next!"

At the same time, the four men who had been chasing her closed in from behind, panting heavily.

Rong Yan’s wildly beating heart gradually calmed as she met the man’s frustrated glare. After brief consideration, she replied, "I’ll get in the van myself."

She answered so decisively it didn’t even seem like she’d just been fighting tooth and nail to escape. Her response stunned the man; he stared at her in disbelief, worried she might be playing games. "I’m warning you—don’t try anything. If you run again, my men will break your legs first!"

"You’ve blocked the road already. Where could I possibly run to?" she said, her face calm and composed.

She looked so docile and serene, as though she wasn’t planning to escape again. The man glanced away briefly, then shouted angrily at the four men who had finally caught up, "I told you to catch someone and you lot act like you haven’t eaten, running slower than a damn turtle!"

"B-b-boss, we tried our best! It’s this chick—she runs too fast!"

"Can’t even outrun a woman and you’ve still got the nerve to complain? Get your sorry asses in the van! When this job’s over, you’re all spending time training for long-distance running! If you don’t run 5 kilometers every day, don’t bother eating!"

"Boss, 5 kilometers is way too much!"

"...I couldn’t even finish 800 meters back in school."

"Shut up, shut up! Get in the van now! If someone passes by, we’re all screwed!"

Rong Yan watched as one of the kidnappers—the hesitant one she’d knocked aside earlier—suddenly smacked his forehead, his face lighting up with realization as he pointed at her. "Oh right, Boss! I almost forgot to tell you! This woman already called the cops!"

"What?"

"She said it herself, she called the police! Good thing I remembered, otherwise if the cops showed up, we’d be done for. These other three didn’t even think of it," the masked kidnapper said, grinning smugly like he expected praise.

Rong Yan’s mouth twitched.

Why did she feel like these kidnappers... weren’t very bright?

Apparently, their leader shared the same sentiment. After freezing for a moment, his face darkened noticeably, and he barked in a low voice, "The hell are you smiling about?! She called the cops and you’re happy about it? The police are coming after us, are you brain-damaged or something?"
