Chapter 1513: Chapter 1514: Just a Distant Look, but a Gentle Demeanor
The man standing before her, she didn’t know his background, but the moment she laid eyes on him, she couldn’t help but gasp at his overwhelming aura.
This kind of person—she hadn’t encountered anyone like him in her entire life.
Looking again at Rong Yan’s delicate and stunningly beautiful face, she suddenly felt it made perfect sense.
Doctor Rong was young, capable, beautiful, and kind-hearted. There was no way a woman like her would end up with an average man.
It seemed only natural for her to stand beside a man like this.
Under everyone’s gaze, Li Shengxiao shut the car door with one hand and walked into the courtyard. He was tall, with long legs, his posture upright like a poplar tree. The glow of the setting sun cast warm hues on one side of his prominent nose, making him look even more dignified and exceptional.
It wasn’t until he came to stand before Rong Yan that the people in the courtyard, stunned by his aura, seemed to snap out of their trance.
Li Shengxiao had rushed over. Only when he saw with his own eyes that she was standing safely in front of him, whole and unharmed, did he finally relax. He carefully checked her, not finding any injuries. His previously somber expression softened a little as his fingertips brushed across the curve of the little woman’s ear. His voice was low and husky as he spoke, “Have you been waiting long?”
Being touched and fiddled with in public, Rong Yan felt all the blood rush to her head, her cheeks hot as she bit her lip and shook her head. “No. I was having dinner and chatting with Mrs. Qi, so the time went by quickly.”
Coming back to her senses, she immediately pulled his arm and introduced him, “Li Shengxiao, let me introduce you. This is Mrs. Qi.”
The thin, weathered woman was flustered and unsure of what to do. She greeted him nervously, “Hel-Hello. I’ve heard Doctor Rong talk about you. You’re her boyfriend, right? Doctor Rong is not only beautiful but kind-hearted. If it weren’t for her saving our Qiqi, I don’t know what we would have done. Thank you both so much.”
Li Shengxiao rarely interacted with people. His natural aura was intimidating, and even high-level executives within the Li Group often felt uneasy around him. For someone like Mrs. Qi, a rural woman, facing him made her bite her tongue nervously, terrified of saying something wrong.
Rong Yan, knowing his solitary nature, was about to step in to smooth things over. Just then, the man beside her seemed to dial down some of his coldness. He gave a slight nod, extended his hand to shake hers, and said with composed politeness, “Hello.”
Though his eyes carried a hint of detachment, his demeanor was gentle, as if the first impression he gave off had been a mere illusion.
Even Ye Qi felt less constrained, and her expression visibly relaxed. After Rong Yan introduced her, she greeted Li Shengxiao softly in turn.
Li Shengxiao responded with a faint “Mm,” giving her sufficient respect.
The harmonious atmosphere lasted until it was Chen Hai’s group’s turn. When their turn came, the oppressive force pressing down on them instantly intensified. His piercing gaze felt sharp as knives, causing them to tense up involuntarily. The simple exchange of greetings left their backs drenched with sweat.
After introducing everyone, Rong Yan checked the time and took the initiative to suggest leaving to Mrs. Qi and the others. She also reiterated what she had told Chen Hai earlier and handed Mrs. Qi and Ye Qi her contact address and phone number.
With eyes brimming with tears, Mrs. Qi held Rong Yan’s hand tightly and couldn’t let go for a long time. It was only when Rong Yan was about to leave that she reluctantly loosened her grip.
Chen Hai, not forgetting the promise he had made to Rong Yan, seized the moment to offer, “Auntie, let me go and escort Doctor Rong and her group.”
Mrs. Qi quickly agreed and even urged him, “Yes, yes, I almost forgot about that. Hurry, go, and make sure you escort them properly for me.”
