Chapter 2298: Chapter 2100: Gu Linxi vs Cui Jiangjing
“You have to be on time tomorrow. This restaurant is hard to book, and the class monitor had to use connections to get us a spot. It’s said that the chef here makes authentic Cantonese cuisine. Their chef was in Capital City, but recently they’ve opened a branch, and the chef has temporarily come here, right? We’ve all heard of Taste Pavilion, and so many people want to book there. Honestly, I had my husband pull strings for a long time but couldn’t get a table. The class monitor really has connections.”
Gu Linxi originally considered offering to help them switch to a bigger private room, but after thinking it over, she decided against it.
Since the class monitor had already secured a spot, mentioning it again would just seem like showing off instead of helpfulness.
She didn’t like being in the spotlight, nor did she like trouble, so she simply said nothing, “Okay, I got it.”
“Then it’s settled!”
“Mm.”
After hanging up the phone, she finished up buying and selling stocks, closed her laptop, and headed to the bedroom.
She hadn’t slept on a soft Simmons bed in a long time. Exhausted from being on the construction site for so long, as soon as she got home, Gu Linxi fell asleep almost immediately.
She didn’t dream at all that night, sleeping soundly until 11 AM.
After getting up, still feeling groggy, she yawned with a toothbrush in her mouth, rubbed her head as she washed up and changed clothes.
Because she was going to a class reunion, she couldn’t dress too casually. She dug out a black collared thin sweater and paired it with a misty blue striped shirt from the wardrobe, along with tapered jeans and the timeless high-top Converse sneakers. With her hair tied in a neat ponytail, Gu Linxi grabbed her bag and phone and headed out.
Lin Wei thoughtfully sent her the address and time for Taste Pavilion, and she drove over, arriving right at 11:50, ten minutes before the scheduled time of noon.
“Welcome to Taste Pavilion.”
Gu Linxi parked her car and entered the restaurant, which had a quaint style similar to the main store in Capital City, only the waitress wasn’t Xiaxia.
Xiaxia must have stayed behind in Capital City to manage the main store.
“Do you have a reservation?” The new face didn’t recognize Gu Linxi and politely asked her.
Just as Gu Linxi was about to say her friend had made a reservation, she heard a familiar voice calling her name from the hallway front.
“Gu Linxi, over here!”
She lifted her eyelids, and who else could it be but Lin Wei, whom she hadn’t seen in ten years.
Lin Wei hadn’t changed much in ten years, still with that baby face and the prominent mole on her chin; only her fashion style and aura seemed to have changed.
“Everyone’s here, only waiting on you. I was checking the time, and you hadn’t arrived yet. I thought you were going to stand me up.” As she approached, Gu Linxi noticed her belly slightly protruding, obviously pregnant.
“Congratulations,” she couldn’t help but say.
Lin Wei froze for a moment, then realizing she was looking at her belly, she gently touched her belly with a soft gaze, smiling broadly, “Thanks. You’re still single, right? You should start looking for someone. Want me to introduce you to someone?”
Gu Linxi suddenly thought of a certain man. Besides that one night when he came to find her, he surprisingly kept his promise not to disturb her. Her lips curled slightly, her previously clear but somewhat cold eyes now rarely showing a trace of warmth, she politely declined Lin Wei, “No need, I have a boyfriend.”
“You have a boyfriend?” Lin Wei scrutinized her.
The tall girl in front of her wasn’t wearing any particularly branded clothes, but her attire was neat and clean, her simple style possessing a personal taste.
