He was now returning home drunk after another banquet.

“Housekeeper Chen. Once I inherit my father's foundation and go to Xudou to become a Nine Minister, I will take you with me to enjoy life. At that time, the Gongsun Family will become like the Yuan Family of the past!” Gongsun Kang said boldly.

“Yes, yes.” The housekeeper nodded.

“Why did he drink until like this?” A stern voice suddenly called out.

“Your Excellency the Governor!” The housekeeper immediately paid his respects upon seeing who arrived. He used the address this person as King but now addressed him as Governor to avoid arousing suspicion.

“Why is he so drunk?” Gongsun Du asked.

“I'm not drunk, I'm not drunk!” Gongsun Kang replied as he struggled to pushed away the servant holding onto him. He staggered with each step as though he was dancing.

“Did Kang'er attend another banquet?” Gongsun Du asked the housekeeper.

“Yes.” The housekeeper did not hide anything from Gongsun Du.

“Hmph!” Gongsun Du snorted coldly. Cao Cao may be a sly fox but so was Gongsun Du. If he did not have that much ability, he would not have been able to become the King of Liaodong. On the surface, it seemed as though Cao Cao valued Gongsun Kang highly. But the truth is that Cao Cao did not trust Gongsun Kang at all. Cao Cao kept inviting Gongsun Kang to drink because he wanted Gongsun Kang to divulge information while drunk. Cao Cao also continued to keep the Xiandengying around for obvious reasons.

Though Gongsun Du knew this, Gongsun Kang refused to listen to advice.

“Take Kang'er away and give him some sobering tea.” Gongsun Du ordered. Despite everything, he still cared about his son.

“Is there any movements from the King of Shu in Yangzhou?” Gongsun Du then asked the housekeeper. The housekeeper was one of his few trusted subordinates that is privy to military intelligence.

“According to our spies, the King of Shu is furious about what we did.” The housekeeper replied.

“What about their army? Have they mobilized the army?” Gongsun Du frowned. They had just stolen Yangzhou's equipment and gave to to their enemy. It would be a miracle if the King of Shu did nothing.

“Gan Ning's navy in Guangling hasn't moved. Some of their warships are even being dismantled.” The housekeeper replied.

“Dismantled? Why?” Gongsun Kang was shocked.

“It looks as though they are being changed to merchant ships.” Merchant ships focus on transporting cargo while warships focused on speed. Because of this, merchant ships have larger cabins and smaller sails. Gan Ning ship was making similar changes. ŗἈɴƟ𝔟ĘŞ

“Huh?” Gongsun Kang felt really uneasy about this but he did not know why.

“Father. There is no need to worry!” Gongsun Kang staggered back out. He was much more sober after drinking the tea.

“Father, that King of Shu is nothing but a clown. Once the Prime Minister marches South, he would surely be defeated.” Gongsun Kang was already a die hard fan of Cao Cao.

“Hmph! Their army will come for us before they are defeated!” Gongsun Du did not show his son a good expression. In the past few days, Gongsun Kang was not only disobedient but also arrogant. After Cao Cao made Gongsun Kang the Governor of Liaoxi, Gongsun Kang was on an equal position with his father. Because of this, Gongsun Kang no longer respected his father.

It was truly foolish. Gongsun Kang believed that he has Cao Cao's backing but all he is doing is surpressing his own family member with Cao Cao's power.

“If he attacks, we will get to see if Yangzhou is as powerful as people say. The Wolf Cavalry? The Urban Army? Hmph! I will simply bury them at sea!” Gongsun Kang sneered.

“Hmph! Arrogant!” Gongsun Du snorted. “Old Chen. Continue to watch Yangzhou's movements and report any abnormalities to me!” Gongsun Du still felt uneasy even as he left. He sincerely hoped that he was just overthinking.

“This old fool.” Gongsun Kang could not help but mutter as he watched his father's back. In his opinion, his father was really old fashioned and still clinging on to this little bit of land, unaware that Prime Minister Cao was the future. Besides that, Gongsun Du was too cautious and is always thinking of leaving a way out. Gongsun Kang did not care for any of that at all. Had Yang Chen not leave early, Gongsun Kang would have killed him by now.

“Le'ts go back and sleep!” Gongsun Kang said before heading to the room of his favorite concubine.

Meanwhile, a large fleet slowly approached Liaodong.
