My Girlfriend is a Zombie

Chapter 1044: The Dancing Mascot

Chapter 1044: The Dancing Mascot

With a flick of Ling Mo’s fingers, the Centipede King, poised to strike, suddenly veered off course. It struggled to regain its balance, but its fists and tentacles kept flailing towards its own face. A series of dull thuds echoed as blood splattered everywhere, quickly staining the ground around it.

Ling Mo stood motionless, murmuring thoughtfully, “Hmm… when targeting the light clusters at the chest and abdomen, the effect is much weaker… same goes for the thighs… it seems the most effective spots are the limb joints. But these light clusters are elusive, making them hard to pinpoint…”

Thud!

The Centipede King tried to grab its own fists, but the more it tried to control them, the more they acted on their own.

“I see, I misunderstood…” Ling Mo’s eyes glimmered with a hint of excitement. He raised his other hand, sketching in the air around the Centipede King’s body. “If… the psychic light cluster is considered just another light cluster… then the true nature of these clusters becomes clear! The largest cluster, the psychic light cluster, is essentially the creature’s neural control hub… though not entirely accurate, that’s the essence of it… so, these clusters appearing all over the body must be akin to nerve endings…”

With that, Ling Mo flicked his finger again. The Centipede King let out a howl as it punched itself in the face once more.

“Indeed… choosing the right light cluster allows for more precise interference with its actions… compared to psychic interference, this is an evolution… an evolution of interference ability. And also, an evolution of observation and sensing ability…” Ling Mo looked at his hand, feeling a sense of transformation. He seemed to have become a true controller… Control wasn’t just about manipulating zombie puppets; it had a deeper meaning.

“If I could see more… interfere more…” Ling Mo murmured, gazing at the Centipede King, “then even such a monster could be completely controlled without erasing its mind… its every move would be under my command… it would be like turning it into a marionette…”

“Roar!”

In less than ten seconds, the Centipede King’s face was already a bloody mess. The intense pain triggered its primal instincts, and with a furious roar, it bit down on its own swinging fist, snapping it with a “crack,” while its other fist swung fiercely towards Ling Mo.

“Ling Mo!”

“Ling-Ge!”

Several voices cried out in alarm.

Although Ling Mo’s recent transformation seemed to offer a glimmer of hope in sustaining the situation, his current state was clearly off. The Centipede King, using a self-inflicted wound to launch a deadly strike, was met with no attempt from Ling Mo to dodge. In fact, he didn’t even flinch; he just stood there, staring blankly at the Centipede King.

“The psychic light cluster… has shrunk. But the light point on that arm has grown larger…” Ling Mo thought to himself, paying no heed to the anxious cries of those around him. He remained in that strange state, seemingly oblivious to everything except the light points and his own consciousness.

“Attack the light point? No, it’s too large; a single hit won’t complete the Interference… If I continue like this, my head will be smashed… So…” Ling Mo’s focus shifted to the Centipede King’s psychic light cluster. “Here, then…”

Boom!

It all happened in a flash. The crowd only saw the Centipede King’s fist come crashing down, and by the time the dull thud echoed, the scene had completely changed.

The ground was dented, the railings twisted, and there stood Ling Mo, unscathed, right in front of the Centipede King.

He hadn’t dodged, yet the punch had landed just in front of him…

Between him and the Centipede King, a jagged pit had appeared, shaking the entire rooftop violently.

Several Hellforged Monsters that had tried to seize the opportunity to attack were shaken off, followed by a series of distant thuds echoing from below…

“Ha…”

As soon as the Centipede King lifted its head, Ling Mo snapped his fingers.

Its neck, halfway raised, suddenly twisted to the side with a “crack,” its roar caught in its throat.

Yet, even so, the Centipede King showed no signs of giving up. It raised its claw again, attempting to grasp the human who was so tantalizingly close, yet just out of reach…

However, another “crack” echoed…

Crack!

Snap!

Boom…

For the next ten seconds or so, these sounds repeatedly echoed across the rooftop. Though no one turned to look, most people’s faces turned pale, and cold sweat flowed even more… Compared to the terrifying Monster, it was Ling Mo who seemed more frightening at this moment… ɽAℕọBЕŞ

With a highly composed and indifferent expression, unwavering attacks, and immense confidence… Even when faced with the shadow of death, he remained standing, a reaction far from what any normal person would exhibit…

“Speaking of the fusion of zombies and humans…” Black Silk suddenly spoke up.

Xia Na, after fiercely sweeping away two Hellforged Monsters, asked, “What about it?”

“Isn’t Ling Mo one of them?” Black Silk continued, “Though most of him remains human, a part of his brain has probably undergone Zombie-ification.”

“Zombie-ification… Maybe it’s more like an instinct,” Xia Na pondered aloud.

“Are you suggesting that zombies have simply awakened and follow their animal instincts?” Black Silk chuckled softly, “But I think I understand now why that Progenitor… and this centipede-like creature are so interested in Ling Mo.”

“To them, Ling Mo must be quite the delicacy… haha…” Black Silk scoffed.

Xia Na glanced at it and suddenly reminded, “You’re drooling…”

“Ha… huh? Ahem, I forgot this body was dug up from underground… It’s a reflex, instinctual…” Black Silk explained.

Bang!

The Centipede King finally collapsed, twitching, its remaining eye fixated on Ling Mo. With its intelligence, it couldn’t fathom how it ended up like this… All this human did was wave his fingers at it…

And now, the feeling this human gave it was different from the beginning…

What was different? It couldn’t figure it out…

“Ling Mo!” Yuxuan’s shout suddenly echoed.

In fact, there was no need for the shout; everyone had noticed…

“It’s the helicopter!” Gu Shuangshuang exclaimed excitedly.

Five minutes, they made it!

With reinforcements arriving, everyone felt invigorated. After barely fending off a wave of Hellforged Monsters, Mu Chen immediately raised his gun and shouted, “Retreat, retreat!”

Skinny Monkey was the first to be moved into the cabin, and the others followed suit, fighting as they retreated. Just as they entered the cabin, another swarm of Hellforged Monsters surged forward, frantically lunging at the helicopter that was already taking off.

“Damn it! Are you guys addicted to chasing us or what!”

He leaned out and fired a barrage below until the helicopter was completely out of danger. Then he turned sharply, drenched in sweat, leaning against the cabin wall.

Everyone was panting heavily; those five minutes felt like five hours. Even now, they felt a sense of unreality, their nerves still taut and not fully relaxed.

Yuxuan turned his head to glance below. The rooftop was now entirely overrun by Hellforged Monsters. He could vaguely see the Centipede King still struggling, but the monsters were already swarming over it…

“These monsters… they’ll probably spread throughout the city soon,” Mu Chen said, frowning.

No one responded, because the answer was already obvious…
