My Living Shadow System Devours To Make Me Stronger

Chapter 1159 - 1160: Witness To Her Power

Chapter 1159: Chapter 1160: Witness To Her Power

However, that would hardly be enough.

Ric had just used one of his strongest trump cards.

He was in trouble.

Still, he had managed to buy them time.

He rushed over and grabbed the fat Beastkin boy by the shoulder. Surprisingly, despite his size, the boy was running incredibly fast.

"Which way?" Ric shouted.

"Hurry! We’re almost there! They don’t come out into the mountains!" the fat boy yelled back, pointing ahead.

The adventurer ran after them, his face caked with blood, his breathing ragged.

He gritted his teeth before glaring at the two children.

"Who are you children... and who do you work for?"

"Shut up and mind your own business," Ric replied between breaths, never slowing down.

The adventurer’s expression darkened at the disrespect.

"If you want to escape, I know another path... but only after we get out of this place!"

Ranar remained at the front of the group.

She was the fastest among them.

Suddenly...

She heard movement ahead.

Without hesitation, she raised a hand.

A sphere of light floated from her palm, drifting into the darkness.

Its golden glow illuminated several lesser orcs waiting in ambush with crude spears and jagged stone axes.

The moment she saw them, she instinctively slowed.

Ric didn’t.

He shot past her.

Sword drawn.

He stepped against the cavern wall, using it as a foothold before launching himself forward.

His blade pierced straight through the neck of the first lesser orc.

Before the others could react, he raised his free hand toward them.

"I don’t like using my attribute..."

"...but die."

A tiny black sphere appeared between the lesser orcs.

Silent.

Small.

Then...

Everything was dragged toward it.

Wind.

Stone.

Blood.

The lesser orcs screamed as their bodies were violently compressed.

Bones shattered.

Flesh folded inward.

Even Ric was pulled several steps toward the sphere before he dug his boots into the ground.

The black hole vanished just as suddenly as it appeared.

A rain of blood and torn flesh splattered across the cavern.

Some of it landed across Ric’s face.

Some stained Ranar’s dress.

Her hands trembled.

She closed her eyes tightly while holding the hands of the two youngest children.

Without looking down, she stepped over the mangled corpses.

She didn’t want to see them.

But she could smell them.

Warm blood coated the stone beneath her boots, making every step slippery.

She took a deep breath.

Then another.

Suppressing the urge to vomit.

Behind her, Ric dropped to one knee.

His breathing became heavy.

That single attack had consumed an enormous amount of mana.

This was exactly why he hated using his attribute.

It was far too powerful.

Far too dangerous.

Even to himself.

After catching his breath, he reinforced his body with physical enhancement and burst forward, quickly catching up with the others.

Ranar looked back.

More and more lesser orcs were pouring into the tunnels.

From every passage.

Every crack.

Every direction.

She clenched her fists.

She was the strongest one here.

If she didn’t stop them...

Who would?

Wouldn’t her father have made the same choice?

At last, they reached the exit.

High above them, pale moonlight spilled into the cavern.

Freedom was only a climb away.

The children immediately began climbing.

The rescued adults struggled behind them, weakened by their injuries.

"Come on! Climb!" the male adventurer shouted before scrambling upward himself.

He never once looked back.

The children climbed after him.

Ric placed one foot against the wall—

Then stopped.

He looked back.

Ranar hadn’t moved.

She remained standing at the bottom of the cavern.

She knew.

The children would never make it to the top if someone didn’t stay behind.

She wasn’t afraid of the lesser orcs.

She was afraid...

...of herself.

She still remembered the fearful expressions people wore whenever they looked at her.

She knew...

Her father had executed more than one person for calling her a monster.

Sometimes...

She wondered if they had been right.

Perhaps that was why she always called herself...

The girl who almost had everything.

Because nobody could truly have everything.

Slowly...

She raised her hand.

She called upon her Fourth Class skill.

Unlike everyone else, Ranar never needed skill scrolls.

She never needed to purchase abilities.

Every time she advanced...

A new skill simply appeared.

Because...

She was special.

The horde charged toward her.

Ric immediately let go of the wall.

"Hey!"

"What are you doing?"

"Hurry!"

Ranar looked over her shoulder.

She smiled.

It was a small smile.

One that barely hid the fear in her eyes.

"Go."

"I’ll buy some time."

A crude arrow whistled toward her.

The instant it entered her range—

A veil of golden light stopped it in midair.

Her golden hair slowly rose behind her as though lifted by an unseen wind.

The cavern began to tremble.

A deep vibration echoed through the stone.

Then...

She stretched out her hand toward the approaching horde.

"[Star Burst.]"

The world turned gold.

It was as though thousands of tiny suns had suddenly ignited throughout the cavern.

An ocean of radiant light exploded outward.

"Eeeeeiiiii!"

Screams of agony echoed from every direction.

Ranar watched.

For the first time...

She truly witnessed the destruction she was capable of unleashing.

Bodies vanished beneath the light.

Others were torn apart.

The cavern floor became littered with broken limbs, shattered weapons, and dying cries.

At that moment...

She understood.

She finally understood why children her age feared her.

Her father had been right.

She was scary.

Even if he had only ever said it jokingly...

Now...

She saw it herself.

Among the incomplete corpses and groaning survivors lay the tribe chief.

Half his body had been burned away.

His charred lips trembled.

He whispered something.

Ranar should have climbed out.

Instead...

She slowly walked toward him.

He spoke in a language she had never learned.

A language she should not have understood.

Yet somehow...

She did.

"Mercy..."

"Mercy..."

"Mercy..."

Ranar froze.

She took one small step backward.

Her breathing caught in her throat.

Then...

She slowly raised one trembling hand.

A lance of light formed above her palm.

It shot forward.

The spear pierced straight through the tribe chief’s chest.

His voice fell silent.

His body stopped moving.

Ranar stared at him for a long moment.

"...Mercy."

She whispered the word back to him.

"Now... you don’t have to suffer anymore."

Without looking back again...

She turned and walked away.

Behind her...

She left only silence.

And a trail of carnage.

For the first time in her life...

Ranar truly witnessed the horror of her own power.
