Chapter 1053: Meeting of the Dharma-Transmitters

"That's right; you've finally made some progress."

"Not only has your acting become more realistic, but your schemes have also started to take shape." The white-haired elder evaluated.

The leading black-clothed cultivator grew anxious: "Senior, you are truly misunderstanding!"

He hurriedly ordered his companions to release the formation's restraints on the white-haired elder: "Senior, you are free now. This cannot still be an act, can it?"

The white-haired elder narrowed his eyes: "The Nether Prison was personally crafted by me back then. If I truly wished to leave, how could it truly trap me?"

"Even this you fail to understand..."

The white-haired elder's gaze grew even more skeptical.

"I told you they are all liars. Senior, come with me instead. I am alone; even if I harbored ill intentions, I could not possibly be your match." Li Fan observed the situation and smiled as he spoke.

Yet, though his words suggested as much, he showed no intention of approaching or welcoming the white-haired elder over.

"You, young man..." The white-haired elder found himself unable to read this youth before him.

A mission that had proceeded exceptionally smoothly had now stalled in a way no one had anticipated.

Every second spent here increased the risk of detection by the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance.

Under the circumstances, the leading cultivator grew increasingly frantic.

He gritted his teeth, his mind already set on subduing the white-haired elder by force and dragging him back.

At that moment, a crisp sigh suddenly echoed above the group.

"Old Wei, you are still so self-assured."

The instant the voice appeared, the black-clothed cultivators' faces lit with joy: "Senior Zhou!"

Meanwhile, the white-haired elder, Dharma-Transmitters Wei—saw his aura shift abruptly.

His originally turbid eyes erupted with a burst of sharp light, staring straight upward.

A woman in simple white robes, with a clear and refined countenance, had appeared silently at some point.

Transmitter Wei scrutinized her closely, then paused in slight bewilderment: "It truly is you..."

He glanced at the group of black-clothed cultivators before him, his expression turning peculiar: "So, what these little ones say is true?"

Dharma-Transmitters Zhou sighed once more.

"You overthink conspiracies so much that everything seems false."

"The Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance has had many incidents lately. I suspect the Dharma-Transmitter Council has become corrupted, so I thought to invite you out."

"But if I appeared in person, I would surely see that smug, loathsome face of yours. So I sent these little ones instead."

"Unexpectedly..."

Dharma-Transmitters Zhou's tone carried an odd note, listless and lacking energy.

Hearing this, the white-haired elder's expression froze for a moment.

But soon, he burst into hearty laughter, dispelling the awkwardness.

To divert attention, he immediately fixed his gaze on Li Fan.

"If you are genuine, then what is the deal with this boy?"

Li Fan remained calm and unafraid, cupping his hands in salute: "Greetings to both seniors."

"This farce was merely to meet you face-to-face."

Wei and Zhou exchanged a glance, both revealing playful expressions.

"People from the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance will arrive soon. Let us change locations."

Dharma-Transmitters Zhou traced a slender hand through the air, opening a spatial passage. She led the black-clothed cultivators inside.

The white-haired elder glanced back at Li Fan: "Boy, do you dare follow?"

Li Fan pondered briefly before entering the small world alongside them.

"Hm? This place..."

Upon clearly seeing the surroundings, Li Fan almost thought he had fallen into some illusion once more.

For the architectural style in this small world bore an uncanny resemblance to the one from his life before transmigration.

Skyscrapers towered everywhere.

Beneath the pitch-black night sky, a misty drizzle fell.

The neon lights adorning the exteriors of the buildings cast a bizarre, multicolored glow over the city in the darkness.

This somewhat ancient yet utterly familiar scene caused Li Fan to pause in a daze for a moment.

Not just him.

Dharma-Transmitters Wei also struggled to adapt.

"How about it? Quite the sight, isn't it? I went on vacation to the Land of Carefree Paradise earlier and thought the scenery there was pretty nice. So I copied it over."

Dharma-Transmitters Zhou's voice drifted over slowly.

Li Fan looked toward the source of the voice and saw that she had already changed into a new outfit.

A crisp white blouse paired with fitted long pants.

She even wore a pair of black-rimmed glasses on her face.

She did not resemble a Dharma-Transmitters at all; instead, she looked like an urban beauty.

"Your taste..."

"Is as incomprehensible as ever." Dharma-Transmitters Wei shook his head slightly, unable to agree.

"You are still as stuck in the past, utterly detestable." Dharma-Transmitters Zhou retorted with a sneer.

"I think it's rather good. Especially this outfit; it suits you perfectly, Senior." Li Fan interjected at this moment.

The gazes of both Dharma-Transmitters fell on Li Fan simultaneously.

"Hee hee hee, the eyes of the young are always so much sharper than those of certain old fossils. That's also why I enjoy collecting young people." Dharma-Transmitters Zhou eyed Li Fan, smiling as she spoke.

"Boy, if you have any ulterior motives, best to speak plainly. This old man's patience is quite limited." Dharma-Transmitters Wei's expression soured.

However, Li Fan could tell that Wei's anger was merely feigned.

At this point, the three of them stood on the top floor of the city's tallest building, where the bustling metropolis at night could be taken in through the massive glass curtain wall.

The entire floor, aside from the central office desk and sofa, along with the red carpet covering every inch, held no other decorations.

Li Fan sat casually on the sofa as if it were his own home.

He then explained his reason for seeking out Dharma-Transmitters Zhou: "I want to know what exactly happened at the Ten Thousand Immortals Alliance headquarters five years ago."

"And where the true Tianxuan Mirror is now."

Dharma-Transmitters Wei had been imprisoned for many years and was still unclear on the situation.

As for Dharma-Transmitters Zhou, the indifferent expression on her face slowly faded. She scrutinized Li Fan carefully, seemingly trying to discern his origins.

"You appear out of nowhere before me and immediately demand such confidential information."

"Little one, where does your confidence come from?"

Zhou's tone gradually shifted from languid to icy: "Merely a Nascent Soul True Lord. Even if the Cave-Heaven you have devoured is somewhat vast, you are still just at the Nascent Soul stage."

"And you dare speak to me like this?"

Li Fan remained unflinching: "I have always addressed you Dharma-Transmitters in this tone. The fact that you have not struck me down but instead probe with words does it not reveal the source of my confidence?"

The atmosphere instantly grew tense once more.

But it shattered in an instant with Dharma-Transmitters Zhou's charming smile.

"You are right."

"It has been ages since I last saw such an exceptional young person. Why not become one of my collectibles?"

"If you agree, I can tell you any secret you wish to know."

Dharma-Transmitters Zhou's tone returned to its previous languid drawl.
