Chapter 228: The Wedding Part 2
Chapter 228: The Wedding Part 2
As for Richard, who was asked about his full name, he remained silent with a smile.
"Sorry, Lady Marley. It’s not that I don’t know my family name, but I simply don’t want to say it yet," he replied.
"Why?" Lady Marley asked, clearly confused by Richard’s answer.
"I just don’t want to yet. I’m worried it might frighten everyone."
After he said that, everyone fell silent, their expressions filled with shock.
Such a claim could not be taken lightly, considering his extraordinary talent.
If his talent were ordinary, such words would have been dismissed as an unfunny joke.
However, there was one person who showed a cynical expression and even snorted coldly—none other than Dasmond.
"A background that scares us? Hmph, that’s an overblown boast. Just admit it—you’re an illegitimate child of the Moonshadow Clan," he said.
The members of the Moonshadow Clan who heard this glanced at one another, unsure of how they should react.
Richard did not respond to Dasmond. He knew the man was likely provoking him, trying to make him reveal more.
So he simply stayed silent, smiling.
At that moment, he suddenly saw the Red Star Empress emerge from the palace, accompanied by two attendants wearing gowns.
The Red Star Empress herself wore a simple yet elegant purple dress. Without excessive jewelry and with her hair neatly tied up, she was more captivating than any other woman present.
Her gaze immediately fell on Richard, but in a public setting like this, she maintained a formal demeanor.
Everyone turned their attention toward her, curious as to whether Lilith would soon appear.
"Ladies and gentlemen, Queen Lilith is still dressing... Before Queen Lilith comes out, please enjoy the dishes prepared for you while watching a performance by the beautiful ladies of the capital," she announced.
With a clap of her hands, a group of young, beautiful women emerged from the palace.
They wore matching short dresses, walked onto the stage in the courtyard, and carried different musical instruments.
Richard naturally recognized them as entertainers from Sophia’s establishment.
The younger guests were delighted at the sight, with many approaching the stage. Some even took out money to tip them.
Music and singing in this world were not as refined as on Earth, but the people here seemed to enjoy them far more.
For Richard, this was a chance to relax, so he sat down at a table that had just been vacated by some young men who had gone closer to the stage to watch the performance.
He had no real interest in the show, but he was pleased when the Red Star Empress came to his table.
The fragrance of her perfume instantly gave him a pleasant sensation.
She sat across from him.
"Sister Maya," Richard greeted her with a bright smile.
Though he wasn’t drunk, the wine Grace had given him earlier had boosted his confidence.
At the very least, he was no longer afraid to say what was on his mind.
"Richard, thank you for the coins," the Red Star Empress said with a charming, faint smile.
Richard was slightly surprised by that. Her gratitude felt more sincere than he had expected.
Originally, he thought she would tell him he didn’t need to do such a thing.
"Sister Maya, that was simply what I should do," Richard replied.
"Well, in that case, Dasmond no longer has any way to harass me," the Red Star Empress said, glancing at Dasmond, who was clearly looking at them with displeasure.
He was still suspicious of the true nature of their relationship.
"If he dares to bother you, Sister Maya, just tell me. I’ll beat him up for you," Richard replied with a chuckle.
The Red Star Empress looked straight into Richard’s eyes at his words and asked, "Will you always stand up for me if someone tries to trouble me?"
"Of course... I’ll be your knight protector," Richard said with a smile.
He knew she was probing his true intentions, and he wasn’t afraid to reveal them little by little.
From what he could tell, the Red Star Empress herself was slightly influenced by wine, so it wasn’t strange for her to act a bit differently than usual.
Hearing him claim to be her knight protector, the Red Star Empress seemed momentarily at a loss for how to respond.
"Mmm..."
Richard shifted his gaze toward Grace, sensing her stare.
It was a sharp look, but when he looked back at her, Grace lowered her head deeply.
Richard wasn’t sure what the woman was thinking.
He wondered if she was suspicious.
Meanwhile, the Red Star Empress remained silent.
Naturally, she couldn’t immediately trust Richard’s intentions, and her suspicions only grew stronger.
Suddenly, the Red Star Empress stood up.
"I’ll go inside first. Lilith will be coming out soon," she said.
After that, she quickly headed into the palace.
Many people began to stand as they saw the Red Star Empress return inside. They knew this was a sign that Lilith was about to appear.
As her future husband, how could Richard remain seated?
At this moment, even the musicians changed their tune to a gentle, romantic melody.
Everyone looked toward the palace doors with anticipation.
Lilith was always known for her beauty and charm, but today, she would be a bride.
She would surely appear in her most stunning form.
People were convinced this would be an unforgettable sight.
Not long after, the figure of the Red Star Empress appeared again at the palace entrance. However, what truly captured everyone’s attention was the woman behind her.
Her neatly tied blonde hair was the first thing to come into view, brighter than ever, adorned with a silver tiara set with purple gemstones.
As the light focused on the palace doors, her full figure became clear.
Her face was breathtaking, enhanced by light makeup and eyeliner that framed her eyes, while her cheeks carried a soft rosy hue.
She wore a diamond necklace shaped like a star, radiating a glow between gold and silver.
Naturally, she was dressed in a white wedding gown—so long that two female attendants had to lift its trailing hem.
Richard felt restless at the sight, but it was the restlessness of anticipation.
Lilith appeared calm and composed, offering a charming smile to everyone.
It took some time before her gaze reached Richard.
Even then, it was only for a brief moment.
She stopped beside several people who offered gifts, exchanged a few words with them, then continued forward.
Her destination was the center of the palace courtyard.
There stood a small silver altar, beside which stood a middle-aged woman dressed as a nun.
She was clearly the one who would officiate the marriage.
"Sir Richard, please proceed to the altar," the head butler said, suddenly appearing behind him.
Hearing that, Richard immediately walked toward the altar.
His steps were slow, but everyone’s gaze shifted to him at once.
They were captivated by Lilith’s appearance, but now they were reminded that she was about to belong to this young man.
He would be the one to take Lilith into her chambers and witness even more of her beauty.
Richard smiled brightly.
The altar had four steps. He climbed them one by one until he stood before Lilith, who was not only beautiful but also incredibly fragrant.
"Boy, can’t you restrain that smile?" Lilith said.
Richard rolled his eyes at her words.
Just because she looked stunning didn’t mean her personality had changed.
"How could I not keep smiling when you’re about to become my wife?" Richard replied.
"Look at how jealous everyone is of me," he added.
Then he continued, "Sister Lilith, may I ask you something?"
"What is it?" Lilith replied.
"I want to ask about your intentions. After we’re married, do you want to spend the night with me or not?"
Richard deliberately asked this to confirm the purpose of this marriage.
Of course, no matter what kind of marriage it was, Richard had no intention of backing down. He could still force the issue if necessary.
It was merely a matter of approach.
Lilith rolled her eyes and cleared her throat lightly.
"Why would I get married if not to have sex?" she replied bluntly.
Richard hadn’t expected such an answer from her.
Fortunately, it was a private exchange, or everyone else would have coughed up blood from jealousy.
Her answer made Richard’s heart race.
He turned to the nun beside them, who had been silently observing.
"Nun, please hurry up and marry us," Richard said impatiently.
"Please proceed," the nun replied, gesturing for them to continue.
Richard was momentarily confused.
Then, suddenly, Lilith extended her hand toward him.
"Give me the wedding ring," she said.
"Don’t tell me you didn’t prepare one?" she added before Richard could even process her words.
So that was what the nun had meant.
Richard smiled and took out the plain golden ring he had received from the White Ancestor. If the White Ancestor hadn’t brought it, he truly wouldn’t have had one.
Lilith immediately looked at the ring Richard had prepared.
She didn’t seem to care about its design, as long as it wasn’t a storage artifact.
Richard calmly placed the plain golden ring onto Lilith’s slender, elegant ring finger.
The moment instantly plunged the surroundings into silence.
