Chapter 233: Problem
Chapter 233: Problem
With Richard’s decree in hand, the head butler escorted Emma away, leaving only Richard and Augus in the palace hall.
Augus still looked utterly incredulous at what had just happened.
He stood frozen, still questioning whether all of this was real or not.
"Emma agreed to become your wife, but I think it’s because of material benefits and authority," Richard said, snapping Augus out of his daze.
After that, Augus suddenly broke into a smile.
"It doesn’t matter, it doesn’t matter if it’s because of material things. What matters is that she’s becoming my wife," he said, clearly wanting to laugh but holding himself back since he was still in front of Richard.
Richard rolled his eyes when he heard that and waved his hand dismissively.
"Go! Go!" he said.
"Richard, thank you!" Augus nodded and did not forget to thank Richard before finally leaving.
"Boy, this kingdom will collapse in no time if it’s managed like this."
Just as Richard was about to rest his head in his palm, he froze when Lilith’s voice suddenly rang out.
He instinctively turned to the side, only to see Lilith standing there with wet hair, wearing a loose, long white dress.
She looked displeased.
"Sister Lilith, ahem!" Richard greeted her reflexively while clearing his throat.
He felt awkward because of her words.
After all, this really was an abuse of power. No matter the reason, it could certainly be harmful to the kingdom.
It was wrong, no matter how one looked at it.
Richard felt unable to explain himself, so he scratched his head instead.
In the end, the reason he did this was also because he was amused by Augus shouting for him to kiss Lilith, causing everyone else to shout as well, leaving Lilith unable to refuse his kiss in public.
Richard instinctively stood up from the throne as Lilith approached.
That throne belonged to Lilith. If she was here, he had no choice but to stand.
"Hmph!" Lilith snorted softly before sitting down on the throne.
After sitting, she shot Richard a cold glance.
"Sister Lilith, this is only a one-time thing. I won’t do it again in the future," Richard said.
Their marriage hadn’t even lasted a full day yet, so Richard naturally wouldn’t insist that he was right or claim that it was his right.
"Emma is not an unknown figure. She is one of the most outstanding captains, yet she suddenly becomes a count and a high official. People will know this is not a fair path," Lilith said.
"Of course, not many can challenge you now that you’ve even defeated Dasmond. However, those who have struggled for years to obtain such things will feel dissatisfied."
Richard: "..."
It seemed Lilith was genuinely unhappy with his decision, even though he had said it was only once.
However, Richard couldn’t regret his actions, because this was truly something he wanted to do.
That said, despite her protest, Lilith didn’t ask him to revoke the decision.
She was merely expressing her displeasure.
"Mm..." Richard noticed the palace doors suddenly open, and a middle-aged man walked in.
Dasmond.
He couldn’t help but feel stunned when he saw who it was.
Richard wondered what his purpose was. There was no way he had come to protest the decision. It had just been made, and the matter shouldn’t have spread yet—no one should know except Lilith.
Dasmond showed clear displeasure when he saw Richard, but his gaze was fixed on Lilith.
Richard felt as though he was about to report something.
"Lilith, an order from the Order of the Heaven Emperor just arrived. They informed me that their headquarters will descend upon the Holy Star Kingdom," Dasmond said, his tone revealing deep anxiety.
Lilith immediately straightened her back upon hearing this.
"Uncle, are you joking?" she asked in disbelief.
"How could I joke about something this important? Boy, this must be because of you," Dasmond said, turning his gaze toward Richard.
"You caused the deaths of many members of the Dark Abyss Clan. The Young Master is a candidate of the Order of the Heaven Emperor. That must be why they chose this kingdom," he accused Richard.
Unlike everyone else, Richard merely frowned.
Of course, he knew he would become a target of the Order of the Heaven Emperor.
However, he didn’t quite understand what it meant for their headquarters to descend upon the Holy Star Kingdom.
He wondered if this was what Grace meant when she said the Order of the Heaven Emperor would appear above the Holy Star Kingdom.
"Lilith, what should we do? You know how powerful their headquarters are. They attract enormous amounts of Aether. Our kingdom could lose its Aether once they arrive, making cultivation impossible. And their members will definitely run rampant," Dasmond said again to Lilith, since Richard remained silent.
Lilith could only knit her brows deeply, unable to say anything.
This matter was far too serious. The Order of the Heaven Emperor was not a faction that even a powerful force could oppose, let alone the Holy Star Kingdom alone.
So what plan could be made?
Lilith slowly turned her gaze toward Richard.
But after scolding him once, she seemed somewhat unwilling to do it again.
"Uncle, I will think about it first. However, I don’t want this news to spread. The Order of the Heaven Emperor usually doesn’t appear immediately, so we still have time to prepare," Lilith said.
"Very well. But regarding this matter, we must be extremely cautious and not allow anyone to act recklessly, or our kingdom may be destroyed without us even realizing it," Dasmond replied before turning around and leaving.
"Richard!" Lilith suddenly called out after Dasmond left.
She used his name this time, signaling that she was serious.
"I want you to go to the sea base and train there, advancing to the Lord Realm as quickly as possible. With your current strength, you are still nothing compared to true powerhouses," she said, surprising Richard.
She had chosen to send him to a harsh place to train.
Naturally, this was something Richard preferred far more than managing the kingdom in the palace.
"I will carry out your command, my Queen," Richard replied firmly with a faint smile.
Lilith’s face twitched at his response.
Richard continued smiling as he slowly walked toward the palace doors.
After passing through the doors, he took a deep breath, feeling much more at ease.
Even though the palace was luxurious—and even had an incredibly beautiful woman inside who was his wife—Richard still preferred the freedom of the outside world.
He wondered how he should head to the sea. Should he fly directly, or use his ship?
However, he wasn’t in a hurry to leave. Instead, he first flew through the city toward Mrs. Wilson’s inn and Sister Lisa.
The city was unusually quiet this morning. It seemed that many people had held celebrations the night before.
Richard quickly arrived at the inn and immediately saw Sister Lisa practicing with her sword—though it was only a wooden sword.
"Richard!" She was startled to see him appear so early, especially since he had just married Lilith last night.
Sister Lisa couldn’t help but scan Richard from head to toe, clearly curious after knowing he had slept in the palace the night before.
Perhaps she was wondering whether the boy she had raised since childhood had really slept together with Lilith.
"Good morning, Sister Lisa!" Richard greeted her with a faint smile.
"Is Mrs. Wilson inside?" he asked.
"Yes, she’s cooking," Sister Lisa replied.
Just as they mentioned her, Mrs. Wilson emerged from one of the doors.
"Richard..." She looked even more surprised than Sister Lisa.
"Why did you come out? You just got married. You should be spending more time with the Queen," she said.
"Mrs. Wilson, it’s already morning. Of course I need to be active. I get bored staying in the palace," Richard replied with a chuckle.
"By the way, Mrs. Wilson, are you returning today?" Richard asked.
"Yes. After breakfast, I’ll be heading back. I need to attend to my duties in the Moonshadow Clan," Mrs. Wilson replied.
"Then I’ll have breakfast with you," Richard said.
"Come in. Breakfast is ready, though today I only made something simple."
"Breakfast doesn’t need to be fancy..." Richard kept chuckling, clearly in a very good mood.
He followed Mrs. Wilson inside the inn and found the dining table already full.
The food was indeed simple—fried eggs, toasted bread, and fried potatoes, with warm chocolate milk as the drink.
Richard looked around and asked, "Where’s Grace? Didn’t she return here?"
"No, Miss Grace rented her own inn," Mrs. Wilson replied.
"Ohhh..." Richard nodded.
He wasn’t looking for Grace without reason. He wanted to invite her to go to the sea base with him.
After all, when it came to adventure partners, Richard felt that Grace was the best companion.
Their cooperation was excellent, and they could even make love during their free time.
Richard ate quite a lot. Mrs. Wilson’s cooking was truly amazing, even with such a simple menu.
He stayed at the inn until Mrs. Wilson departed on her return journey.
After that, he went to Grace’s inn, whose location he already knew from Mrs. Wilson.
Grace’s inn was located in a bustling area and resembled a hotel rather than a resort like Mrs. Wilson’s inn.
Every room in the inn had a balcony. Richard immediately spotted Grace, as she was sitting on one of the balconies, still wearing a long nightgown with her hair loose, clearly not having bathed yet.
She was relaxing while sipping warm wine.
