Chapter 235: Shark

Chapter 235: Shark

The images at the top section of the wall were the ones that attracted Richard the most.

There were three of them: a pitch-black shark with black teeth that looked extremely terrifying, a milk-white whale whose mouth appeared unimaginably wide, and a brown octopus with thousands of tentacles.

The first was Tier 82, the second Tier 83, and the last one was Tier 84.

Compared to most Lords, they were equivalent to Mid-Tier Lords—perhaps even stronger than Dasmond.

Richard thought they were worthy opponents.

He had no confidence in defeating them, but they were exactly the kind of enemies that could help him break through his limits and absorb more Aether.

Richard sat down at a table that had just been cleaned by one of the female servers.

"Sir, is there anything you need?" the server asked politely, trying to peek at Richard’s face hidden beneath his collar.

"You see those three images up there? I want information on them," Richard replied casually, startling the server.

"Hurry up!" Richard snapped when she reacted too strongly.

He deliberately adopted a more irritable attitude to make his disguise more convincing.

The server was naturally frightened by his outburst.

She nodded quickly and hurried away.

When she returned, Richard saw that she was carrying three small books.

"Sir, please take a look. You must read them here and are not allowed to take them away," the server said as she handed him the books, which contained information about the locations and abilities of those sea beasts.

Richard did not even read them properly. He merely spread a trace of his Sixth Sense into the three books, instantly grasping all the information inside.

"Done," he said as he stood up and walked straight out.

All he needed was their location.

Richard flew into the sky after leaving the bar.

With a single burst of speed, he crossed the sea base in an instant.

He had to admit that the ocean beyond the base looked terrifying.

He saw numerous storms in the distance, and the waves were almost like tsunamis.

They roared endlessly, giving off the impression of death bells tolling.

He knew that beneath the surface, countless sea monsters lurked.

Yet without hesitation, he plunged into the sea, ignoring the towering waves and the danger he sensed.

At noon, the sea was bright as sunlight penetrated downward. From above, it might not have been obvious, but once Richard submerged his head, he could clearly see the scenery below.

Unfortunately, it was not the beauty of the sea that greeted him.

Instead, he saw devastation as far as his eyes could see—countless holes resembling mining pits.

Of course, these holes were merely the result of sea monsters’ rampages.

This was truly a place where it was impossible to find sea plants or coral reefs.

There were not even small fish. Instead, Richard saw massive fish of various kinds.

Their lengths exceeded fifty meters, with many reaching hundreds of meters.

They fought among themselves, as there was no other food besides each other.

However, when Richard appeared, they stopped fighting and stared straight at him.

Though he was extremely small compared to them, the aura of his existence was overwhelmingly clear.

Still, they failed to realize how terrifying he truly was.

As if spotting more delicious prey, they charged at him at their maximum speed, generating violent waves with explosive force.

Richard felt the powerful impact of those waves.

However, beasts only slightly above Tier 41 were far below his current level.

He casually slashed with his knife—a Tier 6 weapon.

Whoosh!

The slash split the vast sea apart, and all the fish within were cleaved in two, instantly turning the water red with their blood.

There was no way Richard would waste time on them.

He continued swimming forward after slaughtering them.

The depth here was around fifteen kilometers, still relatively shallow, but ahead of him, the depth suddenly increased drastically.

He moved forward, occasionally turning right, following the route stored in his memory.

The base did not merely point the direction; they had also left markers to guide the way.

Richard went farther and farther, and of course, he did not remain near the surface. He swam downward, where it remained surprisingly bright even as the depth continued to increase.

From the initial fifteen kilometers, the depth he traversed had now reached nearly fifty kilometers.

This was extremely deep, but he knew this was only the beginning.

Here, it was rather quiet.

Occasionally, however, Richard saw pairs of enormous glowing eyes in the distance, resembling twin suns.

Fortunately, Richard swam at high speed. Those beasts could not catch up to him, as they were still far below him in terms of level.

Before long, the seabed reached a depth of over one hundred kilometers.

Here, even Richard—who should have been able to survive comfortably—began to feel pressure.

Ahead of him, he saw a vast and deep abyss.

It was dark. Sunlight could not reach inside at all.

A faint rumbling echoed from within. If one listened carefully, it became clear that it was the sound of underwater breathing.

The Giant Black Shark.

According to the information, it lived within this abyss.

It was said to rarely come out unless hunting or attacking the base.

Of course, if provoked, it would still emerge.

Richard stared into the abyss more carefully.

How could he not sense the presence within it?

Tier 81. He had never encountered a beast at this level before, yet merely sensing its existence told him this was a truly dangerous enemy.

That danger came from the beast’s level itself.

In other words, even if its abilities were average, it could still unleash terrifying power.

Since Richard had come here specifically to fight, he naturally acted after observing for a moment.

He sent a dragon punch forward.

Rumble!

Despite the immense pressure of the seawater, the dragon punch still released a frightening roar.

It shook the ocean, sending waves rippling in all directions, throwing newly emerging sharks in the distance violently away.

The shockwave traveled into the abyss, causing rocks along its sides to collapse.

To anyone, this was undoubtedly a challenge.

"Brat, how dare you!" A loud, authoritative voice suddenly echoed from within the abyss.

There was no doubt—it was the voice of the Giant Black Shark.

It was never an ordinary beast, but a Primordial Beast with Royal Bloodline.

Moreover, at Tier 81, its intelligence was naturally high, allowing it to speak human language.

"Come out. I’m here to fight," Richard replied loudly.

"Arrogant human brat, you truly deserve death," the shark responded even more loudly.

In the next instant, Richard saw a massive black figure with red eyes emerge from the abyss.

It was a shark so enormous that it dwarfed Richard’s imagination.

Its length reached nearly two kilometers, and its rows of teeth looked capable of cutting through anything.

Richard inexplicably felt a chill as he looked at each of those teeth.

The fins behind its gills resembled long blades—sharp and dangerous.

If he had not seen it with his own eyes, even after living in a fantasy world for so long, Richard would not have believed such a creature could exist.

He wondered about the whale, which was only two tiers higher yet described as far larger—after all, whales were naturally superior in size.

"Tiny human brat, don’t run after seeing my power..." the shark roared again as it charged at Richard.

Richard was utterly shocked.

It was too fast.

There had been a vast distance between them, yet now, no matter where he looked, all he could see was the shark’s face—it was right in front of him.

In the next moment, Richard realized he was already between its teeth, which were closing in from above and below.

If its body could move that fast, then what about its mouth? After all, for any creature, the mouth could move faster than the body.

Upon closer inspection, each massive tooth was covered in layered barbs, large and small, ensuring that even the tiniest creature compared to the shark would be crushed to pieces.

Richard had no good idea how to deal with this attack—the time was far too short to think.

Since his dragon punch was already active, he could only meet the bite head-on with a punch, naturally activating the power of his Black Heart as well. Without it, the gap in strength would be far too great.

Richard struck downward at the same time the shark’s upper and lower jaws came crashing toward him.

BANG!

His punch struck the shark’s teeth before it could bite him.

The impact was powerful enough to shake the entire mouth of the shark, even cracking one of the teeth he hit.

But that was all—not enough to stop the jaws from closing.

The effect was barely worth mentioning.

In other words, even with the added power of the Black Heart, there was still a significant gap in strength between him and the shark.
