Chapter 284: World of Death
Chapter 284: World of Death
The clan residence remained as quiet as ever.
From above, Richard saw two middle-aged men with black hair fishing side by side in a small river.
They looked similar, differing only in their aura.
"Mm..." One of them narrowed his eyes toward Richard the moment he revealed himself.
The other followed his gaze—and was even more shocked.
Aside from Aldric, Richard knew that the other was Leonardo—his grandfather, Rebecca’s father, and Aldric’s own grandson.
Richard smiled at them before descending.
"Boy, you finally showed up," Aldric said.
"I didn’t know that seven years had passed when it felt like only a single day to me," Richard replied. "But Grandfather, you also disappeared for a long time. I thought you had gone into the river. Turns out, you chose to give this opportunity to me instead. I don’t know how to thank you."
If Aldric had been selfish, it would have been easy for him to enter the Sea River first. One era belonged to one person—doing so would have drastically increased his strength.
"It would have been meaningless for me. Now, I can see the results are extraordinary. Without even increasing your realm, you’ve become completely different. I’m curious what you can do now," he said.
"I’m not so sure either," Richard replied, pretending to be modest.
"Boy, are you trying to make me die of jealousy..." Aldric grumbled.
On the other side, Leonardo felt somewhat awkward.
He was considered an important figure in this kingdom, yet compared to them, he was nothing—he didn’t even feel qualified to join the conversation.
What puzzled him was why he had turned out like this, while both his grandfather and grandson were so extraordinary.
He didn’t even dare to clear his throat.
"Grandfather..." Richard suddenly looked at him and greeted him.
"You helped me in the past. Take this as a gift..." Richard handed him a Tier 6 weapon he owned—a dagger he no longer needed.
The weapon was already far too powerful for Leonardo. Besides, their clan didn’t even possess such items—only Rebecca had one personally, and she had never shared it.
"Are you sure?" Leonardo was naturally tempted.
"Just take it..." Aldric answered on Richard’s behalf.
And in truth, Richard had already placed the dagger into Leonardo’s hand.
"Boy, you must feel uncomfortable now that your realm hasn’t advanced..." Aldric said when Richard looked at him, knowing what he was thinking.
"Yes, it’s a bit ridiculous, but actually understandable since it’s only been a few days since I broke through to the Lord Realm. Even though I’ve become much stronger, my rivals are Rulers—some may have already reached Peak Ruler. Wouldn’t it be laughable if I failed just because my realm lagged behind? The Fire Spirit Queen mentioned there’s an opportunity in her kingdom, but before going there, I want to make some progress first," Richard replied.
"That makes sense... However, I can’t help you much in that regard. Still, there is an opportunity if you visit the Order of the Crimson Veil," Aldric said.
"The Order of the Crimson Veil? What’s there?" Richard asked curiously.
When he thought of that faction, many figures came to mind—Prince Charles, Ethan Holystar who was a Lord of that faction, and Carla, who had only been ten years old seven years ago. Now, she should have grown into an adult.
"Isn’t what you need battle? But fighting your current rivals is too early—it would only expose your trump cards. The Order of the Crimson Veil will open the Gate to the World of Death tomorrow morning. There, you can fight as much as you want," Aldric explained.
Unfortunately, it was Richard’s first time hearing about the World of Death.
He felt confused but also a bit embarrassed to ask further, as it would reveal his lack of knowledge.
"It is an ancient relic in the Eastern Region. You’ve probably never visited it. It can be considered a Hidden World from an unknown era. Every ancient relic is among the most dangerous places in this world. Even peak existences can sometimes die there."
"Oh..." If it was an ancient relic, Richard had at least heard of such things before.
He simply lacked more detailed information.
"If you’re lucky, you might obtain valuable treasures there. However, I don’t recommend venturing too deep—the risks are extremely high. Many geniuses have disappeared because they couldn’t get out."
"I understand..." Richard nodded.
This world produced many powerful beings—especially Grand Sovereigns in every era—yet these ancient relics still remained intact.
This alone proved that their danger could not be underestimated. Otherwise, they would have long been emptied by the Grand Sovereigns for their hidden treasures.
"There’s no need to rush. It will be a lively adventure. Sit down first—eat and fish with us. Didn’t you enjoy that before?" Aldric said.
"Yes..." Richard nodded.
He even had his own fishing gear, so he didn’t need to borrow from them.
"Richard, do you know what your mother has been doing?" Leonardo suddenly asked.
Richard nodded at that, while Leonardo let out a sigh.
"I have three children. The first is ordinary. Then your mother—she gives me headaches. And your uncle—he’s become a mindless wolf controlled by your mother... Honestly, I still don’t understand her. At first, she disappeared to focus on magic and aimed to become a Grand Sovereign without any attachments. But then she returned pregnant and started a relationship with the young master of the Skylight Clan. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. And now, she’s involved with another man."
Even though Richard didn’t really care about what Rebecca did, he still felt a headache hearing about it.
He could understand why his grandfather seemed to have lost the meaning of life.
"I heard your father went to confront her for an explanation, but was ignored," Leonardo continued.
"Have you met your new son-in-law, Grandfather?" Richard asked.
"Yes. That man—the Sun Spirit King—sent his manifestation here. I’d say he’s no inferior to your father. He has top-tier appearance, talent, and background. He was even very polite to me... A man like him should have found a good woman, yet he chose Rebecca—someone who has already been with another man."
"Your daughter’s charm is indeed unique... Two great men have lost their ambition because of her," Aldric commented jokingly.
On the other hand, Richard thought to himself, ’She just likes being fucked.’
Perhaps she had simply grown bored of being with Edward and wanted something new.
But because of her ambition, she only chose men with powerful backgrounds to support her.
