Chapter 20
Chapter 20
In fact, Qiao Shao didn’t know who the owner was. Let alone his appearance, Chen Su had refused to even tell him his name. Qiao Shao could not ask anyone else.
The reason he judged that the person who threw the schoolbag was not the owner was because the boy threw the textbooks in the schoolbag into the nearby bush. If the owner had thrown the schoolbag himself, how could he throw away his own book like that? So Qiao Shao judged that the boy caught in the surveillance video was not the owner, but some other person.
The schoolbag was thrown away in the morning. In the afternoon, Chen Su went to take out the trash and that was when he saw the schoolbag in the trash bin.
Chen Su was obviously stupefied. There wasn’t much garbage in the trash can, but there was also a lot of fine dust. When he pulled out the bag a large amount of dust flew up in the air. Chen Su coughed, but he couldn’t help looking at the black and blue striped school bag with happiness.
It was covered with dust and was stained with some food grease, but it had no defects and it was an honest to god schoolbag.
Chen Su has always wanted a school bag. But he couldn’t afford to spend a week’s living expenses to buy a non-essential item.
And now, a thrown away schoolbag that no one wanted appeared in front of him.
He picked it up and thought of it as a gift from the sky.
Seeing this scene, Qiao Shao felt very upset.
He Shen couldn’t stand looking at his “be moved by poverty” kind of look and said, “If you want to cry, I can lend you my shoulder.”
Qiao Shao: “…”
Cry my ass!
Qiao Shao looked away and said, “Can you copy these two sections of the surveillance video? I’m going to find this guy.” It was the one who threw the schoolbag.
He Shen, while storing the video on his mobile phone, asked Qiao Shao, “Do you recognize this boy?”
Qiao Shao said, “We’ve got his picture, are you afraid we won’t find him?”
He Shen asked again, “How will you find him?”
Qiao Shao said, “I’ll look class by class. I’m sure to be able to find him!” In any case, he’s definitely a student of this school.
He Shen glanced at his foot. “You’re going to search with your limp foot?”
Qiao Shao had been so fired up that he had completely forgotten his bad foot.
“My sprain’s not that serious,” Qiao Shao said, “and the classes are located close together, I k2026;”
He hadn’t finished speaking when He Shen said, “Class Three, Zhao Haoyuan.”
Qiao Shao froze.
He Shen added, “The person who threw the schoolbag into the trash can is called Zhao Haoyuan, First Year, Class Three.”
Qiao Shao looked back. “Do you know him?”
“I don’t.”
Qiao Shao even more puzzled, “Then how do you know his name?”
“I stumbled upon his student files.”
Qiao Shao was startled. “What?”
Why did he feel that this was all kinds of inconceivable!
“You can rest assured. I have a highly retentive memory and I didn’t remember it wrong.”
Qiao Shao looked at him speechlessly. “You … Have a highly retentive memory?”
He Shen smiled. “It’s very troubling. I can never reread or re-watch movies and books that I like.”
Because, having seen it once, he already remember everything.
Qiao Shao: “…”
He was also very troubled. He was troubled by how his seatmate can brag like this on the fly!
“Let’s go,” He Shen shook his phone. “I’ve saved the video. I’ll take you to Zhao Haoyuan.”
He was Qiao Shao’s human crutch. If his ‘crutch’ wanted to leave, Qiao Shao could only follow.
By this time, mid-morning exercises were over, and the students were returning to their classroom in quick succession. Before long, Qiao Shao saw the boy who appeared in the video.
Is it true that he’s in Class Three?
Is it true that he’s called Zhao Haoyuan?
Okay, looks like it’s true.
So what? He Shen probably already knew this boy a long time ago, and deliberately made up bullsh*t to tease him.
Qiao Shao didn’t believe he really had a highly retentive memory.
Zhao Haoyuan was surprised. Someone had called his name from the mouth of the corridor. He had no idea what was going on. He had never met Qiao Shao, but he knew He Shen.
Who didn’t know of East High most influential figure? Despite having the highest scores in the city, he still came to this second-rate school, and upon entering the school he overtook the senior high school top students in the end of term exams. All this while maintaining the highest score in the city, allowing East High to hold its head high and breathe a sigh of relief.
Zhao Haoyuan asked politely, “Tongxue, why have you come to look for me?”
He Shen didn’t say anything but Qiao Shao got right to the point and asked, “Half a year ago, why did you throw someone else’s schoolbag into the trash?”
As soon as he said this, Zhao Haoyuan’s expression changed slightly.
Qiao Shao kept staring at him, keenly capturing the changes in his mood.
Zhao Haoyuan said, “What are you talking about?”
Qiao Shao stared at him, “Don’t tell me you weren’t the one who threw it.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, I don’t know you either. Class is going to start soon. I’m going back to the classroom …” Zhao Haoyuan turned and was about to leave, but was held down by a hand on his shoulders.
He Shen said, “Stay.”
This single word was uttered light as a feather but it contained a lot of deterring force. Zhao Haoyuan didn’t dare return to the class without any compelling reason.
Qiao Shao now felt the benefits of this delinquent. He’s certainly useful for scaring people!
Qiao Shao took out He Shen’s cell phone and said, “I have the surveillance video.” As he said that he played the video with the sound turned off.
Zhao Haoyuan panicked. “What are you doing? What are you going to do with these videos?”
Qiao Shao asked him again, “Are you saying you’re not the one who did this?”
Zhao Haoyuan was a bit angry. “What does it have to do with you? It was Xu Feifan’s schoolbag that I threw away. It has nothing to do with you.”
The person whose schoolbag got thrown into the trash was Xu Feifan. Qiao Shao now knew.
He felt a surge of anger in his heart: “You threw someone else bag in the trash for no good reason, and you’re the one getting angry?”
Zhao Haoyuan said, “I was just playing a joke on him …”
Qiao Shao couldn’t help it. “Just a joke? Do you know someone has been bullied for half a year because of this joke!”
Zhao Haoyuan apparently understood, his expression turned increasingly dodgy, and his voice sounded very uncomfortable. “I was just playing a joke on Xu Feifan, who knew that that guy would pick things out from the trash …”
Qiao Shao loosened the hand holding onto He Shen’s arm, He stepped forward and grabbed the front of Zhao Haoyuan’s shirt. “You knew Chen Su wasn’t a thief. Then why didn’t you explain it clearly? Why didn’t you tell everyone!”
His foot was sprained, and for the past couple of days he had never dared to set it down. But now he had forgotten the pain because of his anger and took a big step forward.
Zhao Haoyuan was completely shocked by him.
It wasn’t just him, even He Shen was stunned.
Zhao Haoyuan snapped out of it. Stalling, he said “How could I have known it would turn out like that? I was just joking, how could I have known it would blow up like that…”
Hearing this, Qiao Shao understood. Anger and hatred intertwined in his heart and he whispered, “Go and apologize. Go and apologize to Chen Su in front of everyone!”
