My Werewolf System

Chapter 1737 Family

Chapter 1737  Family

The words spoken from Lupus, Gary could tell he really meant it. There was a part of Gary that had been hesitant when they went to the other world. A part of him that wondered if Lupus had only said he was being controlled by Unzoku. Maybe that had just been an excuse. Maybe deep down, Lupus really had wanted to get rid of Gary and his pack.

It was a thought that had lingered in the back of his mind. When everything was chaos, when trust was thin, those doubts had been easy to believe.

But from their first encounter with each other, even back when the Altered hunters were involved, Gary had a gut feeling that it wasn’t the case. Lupus never acted like someone driven by jealousy or blind hatred. Even when his father spoke about his uncle, there was never bitterness in his voice. It was clear that every decision Lupus made had been painful. It had always been for the sake of stopping the two of them from hurting each other.

Now hearing those words directly, seeing the look in Lupus’s eyes, Gary could tell he cared about his family and the Werewolves as well. Not just his own pack, but all of them.

“Hey, you don’t need to tell me,” Kai said. “One of those guys tried to kill me. It’s quite clear they hate our guts. But I would say it’s definitely on a case-by-case basis.”

Kai rubbed the back of his neck.

“Edvard, that guy seemed genuinely interested in not fighting if they could help it as well.”

Hearing those words, regardless, Gary felt like he needed to answer back to his uncle properly.

“We saw it, right?” Gary said. “The Werewolves shouldn’t work against each other. We should always work with each other. And I’m giving everything you’re giving to me back to you.”

He stood firm as he spoke.

“I’m saying this right now, Lupus. If you or your pack are attacked by the Vampires, I will be there to stop it.”

Lupus didn’t respond immediately, but there was a small smile on his face.

The three of them smiled, and they all had the same thought on their minds.

The Vampires wouldn’t have liked to have heard that.

“So, are you going to keep us waiting or what?” Tom said. “Are you not going to say where you went, or where you’ve been this entire time?”

“Haha,” Gary replied, glancing at Kai, who had pulled out the medallion in his hand.

“Actually, the whole reason why we disappeared… it has a lot to do with you.”

Tom blinked in confusion.

Gary remembered clearly that he hadn’t even been the one to find the medallion. It had been given to him by Tom and his research team. At the time, none of them had thought much of it. Just another strange artifact.

“You know,” Gary said, “it would have been really nice if those guys left us some armor or something, right? There really was nothing but the medallion there. Not even a suit of golden-looking armor.”

“Golden-looking armor?” Tom frowned. “Did you go crazy in these last two months?”

“You know,” Gary answered, “if I was on my own and you just asked me that, I would’ve said that might be the case. But thankfully, with these two next to me, I know everything we went through was real.”

He let out a small breath.

“To save myself explaining everything again and again, I’ll wait for the others to come. It’s a wild and long story.”

“They should be here in a few hours,” Crawley added. “They’ve been informed, and it seems they’re rushing back as quickly as possible.”

Gary nodded. He was excited to see the others. It had only been two months in this world, but for him it felt much longer.

There were no phones. No internet. No distractions. Nothing to pass the time except fighting against each other and surviving.

It was good in a way. It forced them to grow stronger. But it also made the days feel endless.

“Oh right,” Gary said. “Kai always keeps spare phones in the safe since we keep breaking ours during fights. And Tom, you set it up so it auto-backs up to a server, so when we log in everything transfers, right?”

“Ah right,” Tom replied. “I guess everyone must’ve been worried about you. And who knows, maybe someone contacted you thinking they needed help from one of the kings.”

The group ventured downstairs and reached for their phones. Lupus wasn’t too bothered, although he did use a phone. He had never asked his men to set up such a system.

To be honest, Lupus hardly fought, and when he did, it usually ended quickly. He hadn’t had the same problem of smashing devices during battles like the others.

When Gary turned on his phone, it immediately began pinging.

Messages poured in one after another.

People from other cities he had met during his journey. Members of the Howlers. Allies. Even those who had heard he was missing had sent messages, hoping that somehow he would see them.

Gary scrolled through them briefly.

That’s when he noticed a more recent message.

[Gary, I heard you’re back! I was so worried. Me and Mum will be happy to know you’re safe.]

[There’s something I need to tell you. Call me ASAP.]

His heart tightened slightly when he saw Amy’s name.

Without hesitation, he called instantly. It only took a few rings before she answered.

“Amy, is everything alright? Are you and Mum okay?” Gary asked.

“Yeah, we’re doing fine,” Amy replied. “I was going to ask you the same thing. I can’t believe you were missing. Where were you this whole time?”

“Ha, that’s a long story,” Gary said. “I think it’s better I tell you in person once I’ve sorted this all out. If I have the time, I’ll pop over to visit both of you…”

He paused.

Unzoku.

If Unzoku was targeting them, maybe it wasn’t smart to visit. Maybe it was safer if their location stayed hidden at all costs.

“What was the message about then?” Gary asked instead. “If everything is okay?”

There was a short silence on the other end.

“It’s about White,” Amy said.

Gary’s body stiffened.

“She’s missing.”
