My Werewolf System

Chapter 1802 No Pride

Chapter 1802  No Pride

Kai and Gary had been traveling together for quite some time, and along the dark path through the dense forest leading up to the old White Rose base, they had already run into their fair share of mutated Gluttons.

They had purposefully offered themselves as a highly visible distraction for the wandering Gluttons they had come across in the woods, trying to draw the heat away from the others.

There were a few deeply unsettling things about the encounters; although Gary and Kai didn't remember the specific face of every single strike force member they had previously worked with, they undeniably recognized some of the distinct features hidden beneath the mutations, and they knew for a fact that these monsters were once a proud part of their allied group.

Feeling a heavy sense of responsibility and knowing they had to put a definitive stop to them, the two of them had decided to be the ones to handle the vanguard. At first, they had actively attempted to hold back their lethal strength and try to just severely injure the mutated fighters rather than outright kill them.

Their working theory was to injure them so badly that they simply weren't able to physically move or pose a threat, hoping that maybe once they finally dealt with Unzoku at the source, then everyone affected by the transformation would miraculously return back to normal.

However, they quickly realized that there was a much larger, horrifying issue with that merciful strategy. The Glutton Werewolves were simply far too resilient for that to ever work. Their mutated bodies, even if their thick bones were broken in half by heavy strikes, would eventually start to violently knit back together and heal.

Their unnatural healing capabilities were even greater and far more aggressive than that of a regular Werewolf, twisting their flesh back into place in a matter of seconds. It was quite odd and deeply concerning where they might be getting their endless energy or raw strength from to sustain such rapid regeneration.

Maybe they would just stubbornly continue to heal over and over until they suffered true, complete death, but Gary and Kai simply didn't have the luxury of time to stick around and find out the limit of their endurance.

The two of them still found it difficult to bring themselves to finish their former allies off , so after dealing with as many of the beasts as they could to at least buy the rest of the alliance some amount of precious time, they had rushed off toward the main compound to try and finally find Midwak.

Before that final confrontation, it was Kai who had suggested he would actively hold back in the shadows and closely observe the battlefield, because he was deeply worried about the vampire lord. It was the perfect chance, while Gary was distracted by fighting a powerhouse like Midwak, for Rowa to turn around and deal a lethal blow to the young Alpha.

Even if Gary had just magnanimously saved his ancient life, there was still a very good chance that a cunning survivor like Rowa would act purely in his own self-interest, so that's why the blonde teenager had decided to stay back and continue to observe the vampire even now. And besides all of those tactical variables, Kai knew for a fact that Gary simply didn't need any outside help to win this fight.

Right after bashing into Midwak's heavy arm, the shattered bones started to rapidly reform, and his dense muscles that were ripped apart joined back up together, as the massive arm immediately stretched out and was swung in a wide, lethal arc aiming directly to hit Gary.

The Alpha had easily jumped high into the air, gracefully flipping entirely over the heavy attack as the stretched arm just swept uselessly across the ruined floor, but the exact moment his boots landed back on the concrete, another mutated arm shot out like a loaded spring, aiming to hit him directly in the center of his chest.

Midwak was relentless as he charged forward, blindly attacking and throwing wide, devastating swings that tore up the surrounding debris, but as Gary effortlessly blocked and parried every single one of them, he found his opening and delivered a brutal, crushing uppercut right to the Glutton's chin, hitting him perfectly when he had the best chance.

"You were far stronger before than you are now, now you're just this mindless thing!" Gary shouted, his voice echoing with genuine frustration. "Midwak, I know you are still somewhere inside there, right... can't you fight against this control? You of all people would never willingly let him take over your pride like this!"

Midwak merely growled, getting right back up again and swinging his heavy fists, and Gary avoided all of the frantic attacks with relative ease, reading the telegraphed movements before once again swinging his own heavy fist out and slamming it brutally into the side of Midwak's mutated face.

Due to the overwhelming, concentrated power of Gary's Qi and the sheer kinetic impact of the strike, Midwak's jagged teeth were shattered into pieces, but his heavy head simply swung right back around, and the Glutton was immediately attacking again without a single moment of hesitation.

Seeing the proud Midwak reduced to acting like this was deeply painful to Gary. Watching his former rival's body constantly healing, enduring the agonizing physical pain of the shattered bones, and surely being forced to do something he didn't want to do, fueled a dark anger inside the Alpha's chest.

Still, Gary maintained his focus, continuing to avoid the heavy hits, and then he forcefully swung his thick leg low, hitting the Glutton's shin and shattering the dense bone on impact, sending Midwak crashing to the floor.

When the beast landed hard on the cracked floor, it terrifyingly used its two massive hands to aggressively drag itself forward and literally throw its entire heavy body high into the air, continuing the relentless assault even without its legs properly working. When Midwak landed back on the ground, his shattered legs were already starting to forcefully form back together again, and he was quickly able to stand up straight, looking like the terrifying, Gluttonous monster he truly was.

"I see how it is," Gary said, his voice dropping to a low, dangerous growl. "You are a lot more sturdy than the other regular Gluttons out there, right? So that means I am going to have to hurt you even more to make you finally stay down."

Gary said this as he slowly walked over, and his physical body started to drastically change in response to his rising aura. His standard Werewolf fur was rapidly starting to turn a deep, dark charcoal black, the thick veins running along his muscular arms were beginning to faintly glow with immense internal power, and the deep striations in his expanding muscles were starting to show even further as his physical density increased exponentially.

While Rowa was silently watching this transformation take place from the sidelines, the ancient vampire lord was actually getting cold chills down his spine, as he could see Gary's entire physical body changing and evolving into a terrifying creature he had never once seen before in his long centuries of life.

[You have fully transformed into Your Shadow Ash Lycan form]

Reaching a clawed hand up to his ear, Gary then pulled out his signature earring, and he held his open hand out as the small piece of metal started to glow brightly before a long, heavy handle materialized directly into his waiting hand, and the large, menacing head of the demon-geared weapon could be clearly seen taking shape into that of a war hammer.

Chucking the massive weapon casually over his broad shoulder, standing tall in his imposing Shadow Ash Lycan form and tightly gripping his newly summoned weapon, all of the fine hairs on the back of Rowa's neck were standing straight up in pure, instinctual fear.

"I'll beat you down with everything I got, because knowing your pride, that's how you would want it to end, right?" Gary asked, his glowing eyes locked onto the beast.

(Some bad luck, my computer fried and died on me. So I had to spend the whole day getting a new one and transferring everything over. Good news: no files were lost. That's why chapters were a bit later than usual.)
