Chapter 489: Movement Techniques
Chapter 489: Movement Techniques
’If we were to fight... would I win?’
...
Yu Qiuyan considered it for a moment. Recalling his fight, then comparing his skills to her own. Although she was impressed, she was still convinced she wouldn’t lose because she had too many hidden treasures at her disposal.
’But the fact that he came out here in the middle of nowhere before calling me out, likely means there are more tricks up his sleeve he hasn’t shown yet,’ she thought. ’This boy certainly isn’t simple.’
She was right. If Xiao Fang’s Cannibal Abnormal Beast hadn’t fully recovered this morning, he certainly wouldn’t have left the village.
The Cannibal Abnormal Beast along with Xiao Hei, and his spirit attribute [ Solid Clones ] would’ve been enough to deal with anyone under the Heavenly Realm.
However, she still believed whatever methods he might’ve had, wouldn’t have been enough to beat her. The only thing that made her doubt herself was his spear and speed, neither of which she thought he could use till he recovered.
’At the speed he was going...’
What happened last night replayed in her mind — the clouds, the lightning, the monstrous strength, and impossible speed. She had witnessed Xiao Fang moving far faster than any Divine Realm cultivator she had ever seen.
’It must’ve been a Divine Realm movement technique?’ She thought.
Movement techniques were rare, especially higher realmed movement techniques.
The only sect she knew that possessed one was the Chaos Sect, but not even they had anything at that level.
She didn’t even think that her older brother — a Heavenly Scholar Realm cultivator — could reach that level of speed.
Even more frightening than his speed was his will.
From the condition of Xiao Fang’s shoulder and hand, she thought Xiao Fang must have really been holding on by a thread at the end of the fight.
She didn’t see what injured his shoulder, but she could easily guess what had happened to his hand—it must have shattered the instant he caught Li Liancheng’s [ Divine Arrow ].
Xiao Fang couldn’t evade the arrow forever. So in the end, he decided to sacrifice his hand to stop the technique altogether. Willing to sacrifice his hand, and to do so unfazed... Xiao Fang was a different kind of monster.
’To have these injuries and still confidently stand against Hanlin at the end till he fleed... is he even human?’ Yu Qiuyan thought.
Hanlin had even taken Xun Wei hostage at one point. Xiao Fang had captured one as well—but unlike Hanlin, he chose to eliminate his hostage the moment the opportunity arose. When Yu Qiuyan witnessed that, she understood one thing with absolute certainty: with Xiao Fang, one could only stand at his side—never against him.
A nervous bead of sweat slid down her beautiful cheek as she remained knelt before Xiao Fang, who sat silently in his wheelchair as she healed his legs. However, to an outsider, it might have looked like a devoted subject bowing to her king.
’If we fought... maybe I...’ she thought with some doubt.
Meanwhile, Xiao Fang could feel her divination technique revitalizing every inch of his body, gently mending the damage within. Before he knew it, his shoulder and hand were completely healed, but his legs still had some ways to go.
However, just when Xiao Fang was beginning to admire her divination technique, the inscriptions began to fade and the golden formation beneath his wheelchair slowly dissolved. The lingering glow around his hand and shoulder dimmed, and mobility in his legs nearly returned.
The pain, however, remained — sharp, deep, and stubborn. Even healed, the backlash was something no technique or formation could fully erase.
Yu Qiuyan proudly placed her hands on her waist in satisfaction.
"There. You’ll be able to walk again by nightfall. And you should be completely healed the day after that."
Xiao Fang studied her quietly, then inclined his head.
"Thank you, senior."
This was the 2nd time she helped him recover. Once in Jadepeak City, and again now after fighting Heavenly Fate disciples.
"Don’t mention it," she replied, waving a hand dismissively. "If you don’t mind me tagging along, I can perform the same technique on you again in a couple hours and have you completely healed by tonight."
"If Senior is willing..."
"Hey, just call me big sis," she corrected him.
Xiao Fang smirked in amusement. Yu Qiuyan had the cheerfulness of Xiao Hei, but the calmness of Xun Wei, and the forwardness of Li Lian. He didn’t know much about her yet, but he was already starting to have a good impression of her.
"Big sis, you’re certainly welcome to join us," Xiao Fang replied.
"Hehehe, Good!" Yu Qiuyan said uncharacteristically, as if she were a school girl being told she could skip class to go out on a trip.
"She’s coming with us?" Li Xiang asked.
"Mn, she’s a friend," Xiao Fang replied.
"Can we leave already, I’m getting tired of standing around," Xiao Hei whined.
"Ah right, we should use my carriage," Yu Qiuyan suggested before turning her attention to an open space on the road.
"Carriage?" Xiao Hei asked with some interest.
Yu Qiuyan’s lips curved into a knowing smile. "Watch closely."
She raised her hand and formed several swift, precise hand seals. With a casual flick of her finger, a slender beam of light shot forward and struck the ground.
In an instant, a radiant formation array blossomed beneath their feet—lines of light intersecting and spinning with quiet power. The air hummed.
From the heart of the formation, a large carriage slowly emerged, solidifying piece by piece as if being woven directly from light itself.
By the time the formation faded, a fully formed carriage stood before them, elegant and imposing, as though it had always been there.
In the next instant, the carriage expanded midair and stabilized as it hovered above the ground.
"Woah!" Li Xiang and Xiao Hei exclaimed in unison.
Small golden inscriptions rotated in the air around the carriage giving it a magnificent glow.
"How is it flying like that?" Xun Wei asked.
"With the use of formations, I can make just about anything fly," Yu Qiuyan explained. "But it can only be fueled by my Qi, so it can’t be used for very long."
The carriage drifted down smoothly, golden lines along its surface shimmering as Yu Qiuyan poured Qi into it.
"Here," she said, tossing a pendant into Xiao Fang’s lap. "Use this, it’ll give you temporary control over this carriage."
[ Spirit Perception ]
Xiao Fang’s eyes glowed faintly blue under his blindfold as he examined both the carriage and the pendant. Almost instantly, he realized the multiple inscriptions embedded within them were anything but simple.
