“I’m ready.”

Almost immediately, another barrage of attacks came flying toward them from a different direction.

Xun Wei’s hands moved rapidly.

Dozens of inscriptions formed in the air as another barrier manifested instantly, layering itself over the exposed side of the rooftop.

Violent explosions erupted against the formation, but the barrier barely trembled.

‘That felt just like Fang’s technique,’ she thought.

But what unsettled her the most, was that coming from Xun Wei, it somehow felt even more terrifying.

After dealing with the soldiers, Xun Wei turned toward Xiao Hei.

“Catch your breath,” she said calmly. “I’ll need you to get us out of here once I use this technique.”

Outside of the barrier, the commander and second-in-command observed everything carefully.

Although they couldn’t fully see what had happened within the formation, they understood one thing immediately, that barrier was no ordinary technique.

“Could this be how she defeated our late Patriarch?” The commander said his thoughts aloud.

The second-in-command’s expression shifted slightly as understanding finally dawned on him. He finally understood why the commander had been so cautious of Xun Wei from the very beginning.

Still, he knew something important about his grandfather—the previous Patriarch.

Though he had possessed terrifying strength, he had also been incredibly old. To unleash Heavenly Realm battle power at his age required dangerous pills that placed immense strain on the body, and that level of power could only be maintained briefly before backlash set in.

His eyes narrowed.

“She may have used this barrier to stall until the pill’s effects wore off,” he said slowly. “Then struck him while the backlash weakened him.”

The commander gave a small nod. It was the most logical explanation.

But if the barrier was truly durable enough to withstand even the previous Patriarch at full power… Then breaking it wouldn’t be simple.

The commander’s gaze darkened.

“Gather the captains,” he ordered.

His aura began to rise.

“We’ll tear that barrier down together.”

The commander’s order spread through the battlefield almost instantly.

Captain-level cultivators began converging from every direction, abandoning their pursuit routes and rooftop positions as they rushed toward the center of the city. One after another, powerful auras rose into the air, layering over the battlefield like gathering storm clouds.

The pressure alone caused nearby soldiers to retreat instinctively.

Soon, more than a dozen captains stood gathered around the collapsed building, each one staring at the layered barrier surrounding Xun Wei and Xiao Hei.

The commander stepped forward. Xun Wei and Xiao Hei could immediately turned their attention to him.

“Captain Wei, of the late Xun clan. You’ve killed our loved ones, the weak, innocent, and frail. How vicious can one person be?” The Commander started. His voice, reaching every soldier within the city. “Today, there will be no room for escape, I will deliver you to our Patriarch, and your life will come to a miserable end!”

The soldiers screamed for justice.

“Come out willingly, and we won’t make it hard on you. But if you continue to struggle, we will tear down these walls, and treat you with the same ruthlessness you’ve treated members of my clan.”

“You hypocrites, I murdered the innocent. But what have you done, who amongst you haven’t committed the same crime against me and the Li family Clan.”

“Silece criminal. Make your decision, are you coming out, or are we coming in?!”

Xun Wei laughed.

“You fools. You think you came to me for me for revenge, for killing your loved ones,” Xun Wei’s tone suddenly became dark and sinister. “But the truth is, I came to you for killing mine. None of you will survive after today.”

The bad feeling the commander originally had suddenly returned in full force.

The trump card he suspected Xun Wei still possessed had yet to reveal itself, but one thing was now certain—

He was already within her range.

His instincts screamed at him to retreat, but the moment had already passed. They had surrounded her, committed their forces, and stepped too deeply into the trap to back away now.

There was no longer a middle ground.

It was now or never.

“Attack!” the commander barked immediately, his voice carrying across the battlefield. “Focus everything on one point!”

The captains reacted at once, their auras erupting as they prepared another combined assault. However, unlike the others, the second-in-command’s expression suddenly changed.

The danger he sensed in Xun Wei’s voice was too real. Too absolute. So without hesitation, he retreated.

The movement was so sudden that even several captains looked at him in shock, but his instincts refused to let him stay any closer. Following him immediately, the ten elites under his direct command withdrew as well, trusting their captain’s judgment more than the commander’s confidence.

The commander noticed, but it was too late to stop them.

In the next instant, the commander, along with every captain and their subordinates, unleashed their attacks simultaneously.

The city shook violently.

Hundreds of attacks slammed into the barrier at once, erupting into a deafening explosion of light and force.

The barrier trembled.

Shockwaves tore through the surrounding streets, collapsing buildings and sending debris flying in every direction.

The noise was deafening.

The battlefield fell silent.

“Impossible,” the Commander’s jaw dropped.

Inside the formation, Xun Wei slowly rose to her feet.

Her grey eyes glowed with a haunting misty blue light as strands of invisible soul power twisted around her like currents no one else could fully see. Even the air near her seemed distorted, as though reality itself struggled to remain steady around her presence.

She grinned.
