Chapter 1408: Chaos
Chapter 1408: Chaos
The day after Evan returned to the closed world of the Dryads...
The entirety of Utopia had descended into chaos and every major power across the world, including those ruled directly by the Monarchs had begun mobilizing frantically.
Countless shocking events had occurred within a single day, enough to shake the foundations of Utopia itself.
The return of Baphomet and Eldraker, who had mysteriously disappeared for several months.
The deaths of countless demons during the war between the dragons and demons.
Under normal circumstances, either of these events would have dominated the front pages of every information network throughout the world.
Yet compared to what happened afterward, they appeared almost insignificant.
What truly stunned the countless powers of Utopia was the return of the Shadow Monarch—Azroth.
And to the absolute horror of the world...
The very first thing he did after returning was kill Eldraker, a Peak Rank Six Void Dragon.
Across all of Utopia, there were very few individuals confident enough to face Eldraker directly, let alone kill him.
There was no helping it.
A Peak Rank Six Void Dragon who had mastered the power of the Void to an extremely high degree was an existence almost on par with Monarch-level beings.
Yet such an existence had died in less than five seconds after the battle began.
One must understand...
When Rank Six Core Evolvers fought, their battles often lasted for months and sometimes even years.
At that level, killing another Rank Six existence was extraordinarily difficult.
Not only did they possess terrifying regenerative abilities, but their energy reserves were nearly endless due to their Core Worlds constantly replenishing their power.
As long as their Core World remained intact, they could continue fighting almost indefinitely without exhaustion.
Yet Eldraker, an existence standing at the absolute peak of Rank Six had died in under five seconds.
Of course, the people of Utopia only knew that the Shadow Monarch had killed Eldraker almost instantly.
They had no idea how it happened.
If they were to learn that Eldraker had been stripped of all his power by the Primordial Rune of Sealing and reduced to nothing more than an ordinary dragon before being killed...
The terror spreading throughout Utopia would become even greater.
After all, an ability capable of turning one of the strongest beings in the world into a powerless mortal was enough to horrify anyone.
Other than the Five Empires ruled by the Monarchs, Utopia also possessed numerous independent top-tier powers.
These powers were either comparable to the Dragon Islands or only slightly weaker.
Even the Monarchs could not casually provoke such powers because every one of them possessed at least one Peak Rank Six Core Evolver capable of contending against a Monarch to some degree.
For example, the Mecrodrois Empire.
An empire ruled primarily by mechanical lifeforms and artificial beings.
It possessed the most advanced technological civilization in all of Utopia and was considered almost equal to, or perhaps even slightly stronger than the Dragon Islands.
The moment news of the previous day’s events reached the Mecrodrois Empire, the entire empire was shaken.
However, more than Eldraker’s death, what truly disturbed the higher-ups of the empire was the unexpected return of the Shadow Monarch.
During the period when Anastasia had been betrayed by Akasha and Eldraker, some individuals from the Mecrodrois Empire had secretly participated in the conspiracy as well.
Although their true motives remained unknown, they had played a crucial role in Anastasia’s downfall.
With their advanced technology and tracking systems, the Mecrodrois Empire had repeatedly located Anastasia while she was injured and fleeing.
They were the ones continuously feeding her location to Akasha and Eldraker.
And now, the Shadow Monarch had returned.
Not only had he returned, but he had instantly killed Eldraker.
Everyone among the higher ranks of the Mecrodrois Empire knew about the relationship between Azroth and Anastasia.
As such, they could not help but fear what would happen if the Shadow Monarch came looking for them next.
At the same time, it seemed as though someone was deliberately spreading information regarding the upcoming war between the Shadow Monarch and Winterclaw.
Within a single day, the news had already spread throughout all of Utopia.
Many top powers had already noticed the unusual military movements occurring within the Frozen Monarchy Empire during the past several days.
And now, after connecting those movements with the recent information spreading across the world, most people had become certain that the rumors were real.
A war of unprecedented scale was approaching.
Not to mention, almost everyone in Utopia knew that Winterclaw hated the Shadow Monarch to the bone because of the Eternal Night incident.
A kingdom under Winterclaw’s rule had been annihilated completely during that event and not a single survivor had been left alive.
With news of the upcoming war spreading rapidly, the other powers of Utopia had no choice but to take action as well as no one could remain uninvolved in a conflict of this magnitude.
With only a small amount of investigation, people could already connect the recent chaos spreading across Utopia to the Shadow Monarch.
The war between the dragons and demons.
The death of Anderson, the Rank Six vampire.
The destruction occurring throughout various regions.
All of it appeared to be linked to him and with just these events alone, it was highly likely that both Alistair and Baphomet would become involved in the war as well.
And with Winterclaw already standing against the Shadow Monarch, three Monarchs had effectively entered the battlefield.
As for Anastasia, almost no one doubted that she would stand on the Shadow Monarch’s side.
And considering the complicated relationship between Anastasia and Akasha, it was highly likely that the Snake Monarch would also be dragged into the conflict.
Then there was Eilistraea.
No one even questioned whether she would participate as everyone know that that battle-crazed maniac would probably charge into the war even if nobody invited her.
Thus, in one way or another, all Five Monarchs had already become connected to the upcoming conflict.
And once all Five Monarchs became involved, it became impossible for the other powers of Utopia to remain neutral.
After all, nearly every major faction in the world had deep ties with one of the Monarchs.
For example, the Dragon Islands shared a close relationship with the Celestial Empire ruled by Akasha.
Although much of that relationship existed because of Eldraker, no one could deny that if Eldraker were still alive and the Celestial Empire requested his support, he would have unquestionably answered.
The same was true for the other Monarch Empires.
If they called upon the powers allied with them, those factions would have little choice but to respond.
In short, the entirety of Utopia had entered a state of war preparation with every major power secretly choosing which side they would stand on once the war finally erupted.
Yet while the entire world focused on the upcoming conflict, unknown to everyone, an even greater disaster was silently brewing within the collapsed space of the Tomb of the Ancient, where the true Halberd of Destruction was located.
