Chapter 1005: The Path Was Never For Me
Chapter 1005: The Path Was Never For Me
Every year, a hundred men and women were granted the honor to grace the capital city of Hamleth. There, on an empty throne, sat their god–present only in spirit and not body, and yet the faithful made the climb atop the impossible plateau to have a chance to set their eyes on his visage. Many slaves they would bring with them, and they were promptly put to work throughout the city of gold and silver.
Only the castle of the god’s throne and the walls surrounding it were the capital’s residence; however, with the slaves left behind even after the pilgrims left, they had but two choices. To stay and keep the city clean with a chance to be freed once the next pilgrims arrive, or to try their hands at the descent–a sheer fall that none granted Hamleth’s grace could survive.
By the time the pilgrims would come, the slaves, including their bones, were naught but dust. Picked away by vultures and other scavengers, leaving the city. No slaves made it out of the city; only the pilgrims did. However, today it was neither the slaves nor the pilgrims who were visiting; instead, it was the god’s enemies.
Raven, Helga, and Moeria in her spiritual form had arrived at the capital city. On their way, they’d passed their other companions, but there was little time to exchange pleasantries since those left behind were also keeping entire cities from committing to an all-out war against Athenia’s army.
Arriving at the castle’s golden doors, Raven pushed them in and, without even taking a step inside, he saw the only room within, along with the throne at the end of it. But it wasn’t empty, as his party had been led to believe. A tall masculine man with a simple white robe was sitting on the throne. His eyes were fierce and golden, staring at them with a look of pure disgust.
"No surprises then." Dropping his shoulders, Raven led the other two inside. Helga walked on her own two feet while the spirit of Moeria was wrapped around her neck like a scarf. Quietly approaching the god took a whole minute of walking, but in that time one thing was made clear. "You want to talk before everything goes to hell, I’m assuming. Is that right, or is this another trick?"
The lord of law simply grunted behind his sealed lips. He did not see the hero as his equal and surely not worthy of speaking to him directly. Yet as Raven reached for his blade after an exhaustive amount of silence, Hamleth reluctantly broke his silence.
"You truly believe that you can kill me? Three mortals against the divine? Your hubris will be the talk of history, arrogant hero." Hamleth’s grip on the armrests imprinted his fingers into the metal. The sheer heat of his rage was enough to soften the gold and bend to his will. "Had we no use for you, your life would’ve been forfeit long ago. But you had to impose upon my people, shut them from the window of my grace! And now! Now you’ve come to kill me?"
Hamleth’s perfect teeth rattled with a thunderous rumble as he laughed. His voice had a sway of command and bled of pure authority, but none before him shook an inch–another blow to his ego, a god who was used to seeing his followers tremble before him whenever he spoke.
With no lick of fear, Raven lifted his right hand and pinched a ring on his ring finger. A deep violet stone rested on it, but before Hamleth could even look at it properly, the hero squeezed his fingers into a fist and yelled out loud.
"The path we cleared was never for me, you stupid single-minded fuck!" Smirking like the devil, he activated the ring–giving everyone access to the territory, but more importantly, to a group of three specific people. "Your territory is now under Athenia; that means she can come down and slap the crap out of you herself!"
A blinding light of deep violet consumed the entire room, even disrupting the mind of the gods sitting on his throne. As it subsided eventually, however, standing before him were not one but two goddesses, as well as a follower of one of them.
"Athenaia?! Elenaria?!" Seeing the goddesses in the flesh, Hamleth’s rage pulled him out of his seat. Slamming his fist into the armrest as he did so, he shattered a portion of his own throne. "And this runt!"
Glaring at Mono, he grunted through his teeth.
"Now, now, don’t blame me, Hamloss; she insisted on coming with–she missed seeing your face ever since you two met at Heaven’s Court." Elenaria’s words were like daggers to Hamelth’s ego, but as if she hadn’t said enough, the goddess of mockery decided to take over.
"Oh~ The poor most powerful god in the council~ Your people chose peace over dying for no reason? How dare they! Now who’s gonna help you change your nappy? Hmm? Don’t worry, I’m sure the angels would love to deal with your duty."
"YOU STUPID WENCH!"
"Aww~ Is that the best insult you could come up with?" Clicking her tongue a few times, Athenia kept shaking her head with a smirk. "If only the whores you pay with your ’blessing’ to let you fuck them were honest, maybe then you could’ve learned how to arouse a woman."
With no warnings at all, Hamelth’s fist came crashing down on Athenia’s semi-mechanical body. The goddess was pinned under it, with only one of her hands holding the god’s fist from even touching her head. A moment later, a rush of wind rippled in all directions from the sheer strength of the blow, and yet with a smile on her face, Athenia leaned to the side and looked at Hamleth from under his strained fist.
"Hit you where it hurts, did I? I haven’t even gotten to how you take it up the ass." Instantly covering her mouth, Athenia looked around with mock surprise. "Oh, I’m sorry. I didn’t think about our company. Sorry, but you’d all have to get in line; I’ve only brought one dildo, so we’d have to take turns and share."
A smile crept up everyone’s lips, though Mono and Moeria were somewhat disturbed. One thought came up in their heads. ’Not to get on Athenia’s bad side on any arguments’. Hamleth, on the other hand, however, was far from a little upset. His body–ten times the size of everyone else-was burning red hot with rage, and the heat of his golden blood could be felt throughout the castle.
"I SHOULD’VE KILLED YOU ALL AND THE DAMNED COUNCIL GODS LONG AGO!!!" And thus, with the law’s rage–the fight against the tyrant emperor–finally began.
