Chapter 844: The Kingdom Of Absurdity’s Absurdities - Part 2

Noticing everyone working on one thing or the other, Raven decided to approach Reina first. She’d been away in Eclanor for a while, working under Meimei in an attempt to learn her techniques. But if the rumors were to be believed, it wasn’t the technique as much as it was the person who made the equipment. Leaving her with little progress, although she hadn’t given up just yet.

"Yo~" Seeing him approaching, she waved a hand, and her salamander Sally crawled across her chest and came to rest on her shoulder at the same time. "Been a while, ain’t it? I still haven’t been paid for quite a bit of labor, you assholes."

"Ekk..." Hiding behind Mel, Aria kept her eyes on the salamander.

The others weren’t as bothered by its presence, perhaps because, as surprising as it was, the pet seemed focused only on the dark elf.

"We’ll get you paid, but here–" turning his attention to Shamisha, Raven gave her a light nod. "Can they steer this thing?"

Hiding a smile behind her clipboard, Shamisha puffed her chest with pride and scribbled on the paper.

"Well... Maybe if you take me on a date again, I will train them into expert pilots in just a few days." Lowering the clipboard just enough for her to look at her secret lover, Shamisha moved one hand to the ground, and her body quickly lifted from the floor. "Gravity manipulation is my expertise; I can and have taught it to even toddlers in my teaching days. Shouldn’t be a problem."

Letting her body down once more, she lowered the clipboard completely. The others eyed her with a twisted expression. In their heads, she was doing too much–at least in front of everyone.

"You don’t have to rub that in, you know..." Lightly punching her metal arm, Regalia sneered. "We all know that you’re a slut for a flying fuck, so no need to be so subtle, you idiot."

Shamisha’s eyes widened to Regalia’s crude words, but instead of a retort, she simply hid her face behind the clipboard again. And what else could she do? After all, she’d been caught having sex with Raven while the two were floating above the bed once already.

"Ughh... Seems like nothing has changed, huh?" Punching Raven’s chest, Reina squinted while looking into his eyes. "Still a playboy, thank god I never let you into my panties."

"I thought you’d wear boxers or something," Mel mumbled in the background, and although she was right, Reina simply glared at her without correcting anything.

Their attention suddenly drawn away from each other by the sound of something metallic hitting the floor, everyone turned to Mono and the others standing not too far from where they were. Beside the queen, Ditsy was in a chair along with Garcia. Lutz, too, was present, but his eyes were more focused on the vessel’s part than whatever conversation they were having.

"So we’d need a donor body, after all?" Asking that question, Mono folded her arms.

Nodding back at her, the vampiress took a deep breath and marked something on a piece of parchment laid out before her on an inclining desk. A few strokes here and there, and she looked up at the queen once again.

"Preferably a single person, and since you hope to invest yourself in the body, I’d say it’s best that we choose a woman."

"Are you guys seriously talking about taking another person’s body and using it as your own?!" A bit too innocent for the conversation, Garcia took a step away with her hand clenched by her chest.

Raising her eyebrows, Mono ever so lightly tilted her head.

"We will use criminals, what’s the big deal?" She asked, genuinely confused about Garcia’s reaction to the plan.

"It happens all the time, Garcia. Even back at the tower, my experiments required prisoners so that we could progress cures for disease and whatnot." Being a vampire, Ditsy was just as nonchalant.

To Garcia, however, the notion of using living people as test subjects was a thing of nightmares. Already she could feel her throat getting dry, and her mind began to question just how long she could be around Ditsy before something happened that would make her heart jump out of her chest. Arresting criminals was one thing, but to commit to their execution was never something she had the heart for.

"I...I guess, but–"

"Why don’t you go ahead and rest at my castle? I’ll have Grace help you calm down; your stress is so apparent that it might get infectious if you stay around." Snapping her fingers, Mono sent a signal to a much smaller flying vessel to warp to her spot. In a flash, it came with a flash of blue, just big enough for a person to stand on. "Here, take the sparrow. It will get you there in a flash. Grace is somewhat tall and intimidating, but trust me, she has the heart of an angel, literally."

Although reluctant, Grace looked at the golden, hovering platform. It quickly lowered itself near her feet and lay in wait for her to step on top. Glancing at Ditsy again, Garcia reminded herself of how different she was than the two geniuses.

’Let them do this. You’re a soldier, not a torturer.’ And with that, she stepped on the platform. The very next moment, it flashed a blue light at everyone and was gone along with her.

After her landing in the castle, she would meet Grace–twice as tall and just as intimidating with her cutting silver gaze. Her long hair sweeping the floor would unnerve her some more, but the hospitality that would soon follow would mend all ache.

But the same could not be said about those she’d left behind as a sudden distress call rang in Raven’s head.

"I need you in June’s room, right now," Linkle said, her voice drained from tending to a mother all night.

"Did something happen?" He asked, but there was no answer for the witch had fallen unconscious from being far too tired.

Clicking his tongue, the hero decided to let the rest of the troubles wait for anything to do with June and Aradin, or their daughter, could not wait.
