Chapter 622: Dao Opening
Chapter 622: Dao Opening
After Dao Generation came the Dao Opening Realm.
This was where evolvers used all the dao notes they had formed within their seed to achieve something greater. The Opening of a Boundless Dao River within oneself marked the first process of creating one’s own Dao.
Grey studied the information carefully within his Lesser Heaven space.
The 10th rank was difficult because it commanded evolvers to form a unique spin on the existing dao they had resonance with. Only then could they Open the Dao River within themselves.
If someone possessed a transcendent core, it would transform into a river of Dao Power upon reaching Dao Opening. Their powers would explode beyond normal logic at that point.
Dao Opening and Dao Generation were simply two different beasts.
The Dao Seed would evolve to create an inner world, and the more dao marks one formed, the better that world would become. All of these elements connected together in a beautiful cycle.
The inner world opened by opening your dao.
You opened your dao by compressing the dao notes into the dao seed.
Then you forged your own specific path.
For example, someone might create the Dao of Extreme Fighter Yang Fire or something similar. They would then be able to reach Dao Opening as long as their concept worked and was theoretically possible.
The Dao Marks formed were based entirely on one’s comprehension of the Dao.
The Major Daos still existed of course. Space, Time, Gravity, Power and more remained at the top. But then there were Lesser Daos, and those were daos created by evolvers later in their evolutionary journey.
The Dao Opening Realm gave birth to unique daos.
In that realm itself, evolvers made their dao unique by forming marks of dao within their inner world. Beings inside that inner world would cultivate that dao and give the owner resonance.
The more dao marks formed, the better it was for the evolver.
It worked on the same principles as the Ultimate Leap.
"So how does this work?" Grey mumbled to himself. "If an evolver evolves their lesser dao into a major dao, they can gain ascendancy valor and ascend to the Ascendancy Domain?"
He was thoughtful about that possibility.
As it stood, there were plenty of ways to achieve transcendence. The Ultimate Leap, the Major Dao Transformation, State Power, and gaining valor through achievements all offered paths forward.
But amidst all those paths, he hadn’t thought about how exactly he was going to transcend.
He understood that Ascendancy Valor was like money in the Ascendancy Domain. For finding Finality, Alissa’s mother Melissa had been promised enough valor to reach Paramount status.
He had no idea what that meant exactly.
But like he mentioned before, it was like currency, and perhaps the way you transcended actually mattered in the end. Different methods might yield different amounts of valor.
But Grey shook his head.
There were still plenty of ranks left until he could ascend. The current priority was forging the 10th rank of his path.
But he had no idea how he was going to do that.
Basing it off Dao Generation wouldn’t work since his path didn’t have the Dao Seed concept. The Summit of Nexus method operated on completely different principles.
But that didn’t mean it would be impossible to reach.
He had always figured something out before, and he would continue doing that. His comprehension had never failed him when it truly mattered.
Just then, he sensed something.
The energy signature came from the direction of Ouroboros’s quarters in the tower.
Grey swiftly went to check.
He arrived at the training room near Ouroboros’s residence and stopped in his tracks.
Alissa floated in the sky above him, her body surrounded by swirling golden and blue energy. The aura she gave off was unmistakably at the 8th rank.
No, it was climbing higher.
"What the hell." Grey stared with wide eyes. "What did you do, Ouroboros?"
The ancient dragon lounged on a nearby bench, watching the spectacle with a satisfied smile.
"Well, my cute daughter said she wanted to go with you to the Higher Realms." Ouroboros said casually. "How can I not realize her wishes as her mother?"
Grey’s lips twitched hearing this.
The energy around Alissa intensified dramatically.
Her form blazed with the light of infinity as her evolutionary base surged upward. The 8th rank shattered beneath her feet as she stepped into territory that should have taken months of practice to reach otherwise.
She had officially stepped into the Origin Generation Realm!
The Summit of Nexus responded to her ascension, pouring amplification power into her existence. Her perfection scale was high thanks to Grey’s own tweaks he had done to her during the time she converted to his path, and the results showed clearly.
Space trembled around her as the breakthrough completed.
The overwhelming pressure gradually faded as Alissa stabilized her new realm. She descended slowly from the sky, her feet touching the ground with gentle grace.
Her eyes opened.
She saw Grey standing there, watching her with a warm smile.
"My wifey is working hard it seems." Grey said.
He snapped his fingers.
Space folded instantly, and Alissa found herself standing right next to him. Before she could react, his arms wrapped around her in a tight embrace.
"N-Not in front of Ouroboros." Alissa said with a flustered look on her face.
Her cheeks turned red as she glanced toward the ancient dragon.
Grey cutely pinched her cheeks.
"Too bad." He grinned.
Ouroboros laughed at the display.
"You youngsters are so full of energy." She said with amusement. "It reminds me of when I was young, countless eras ago."
"Though, I never had a partner before. But I loved watching young and promising True Source Beings that were power couples."
She stood up from her bench and stretched lazily.
"Alissa was already capable of reaching 9th rank actually." Ouroboros continued. "In fact, I can help her reach 12th rank right now. Same for you Grey, thanks to your Infinity Dragon race."
Grey’s eyebrows rose at those words.
"But 9th rank is what I can help you both with for now." Ouroboros added. "Since your path only has 9 ranks currently, that’s the limit of what the Infinity Dragon bloodline can assist. It cannot help you reach a nonexistent realm unless you have like the Artifact of the Jade Emperor."
Grey nodded with understanding.
That made sense. The Infinity Dragon race could accelerate evolution through the existing ranks, but it couldn’t create new ranks that didn’t exist yet.
He would have to forge the 10th rank himself before that assistance could go further.
Grey turned to Alissa and gently pulled her away from Ouroboros’s quarters.
"Let’s go somewhere private." He said softly.
Alissa’s face went redder but she didn’t resist.
They arrived at Grey’s personal room moments later.
The door closed behind them, and Grey pulled Alissa into another embrace. This time there was no one watching, no ancient dragon making comments.
Just the two of them.
"You worked hard to catch up." Grey said, his voice warm. "I’m proud of you."
Alissa buried her face in his chest.
"I-I just want to come with you." She mumbled. "In case you decide to get more women in the Higher Realms."
She pulled back slightly and glared at him.
"You can’t have more." She declared firmly.
Grey chuckled helplessly at her possessiveness.
"Why would I do that?" He asked with a teasing smile. "When a beautiful girl like you is already with me?"
He lifted her chin gently.
"You’re everything I could want." Grey said. "Strong, cute, and loyal. I love you a lot Alissa."
Grey leaned in and kissed her.
After that, he gently stroked her blue hair.
"You know, you’re the first person who believed in me." He said. "Even though you hated my guts back in Blue Star."
Alissa looked up at him with soft blue eyes.
"You were never a nobody to me." She replied.
Grey’s heart warmed at her words.
He leaned down and kissed her forehead, then her nose, then finally her lips again. Alissa made a small sound of surprise but melted into the kiss without resistance.
When they separated, she was breathing slightly heavier.
"G-Grey..." She stammered.
"Hmm?"
"We should... we should focus on evolution." She said, though her voice lacked conviction.
Grey laughed at her weak attempt to change the subject.
"We have time." He said with a playful grin. "The Higher Realms aren’t going anywhere."
Alissa’s face burned even brighter.
Before she could respond, Grey suddenly stiffened.
His expression shifted from warmth to sharp alertness in an instant. His senses had picked up something, a disturbance at the edge of his perception.
"Wait here." Grey said with a frown.
He released Alissa and prepared to investigate.
But Alissa grabbed his arm before he could leave.
"I’m coming with you." She said. "I’m at the 9th rank now Grey, I’m as strong as you are."
Grey looked at her determined expression.
She had just broken through, and her combat power was rather close to his own. The amplification from her Infinity Dragon bloodline and the Summit of Nexus had pushed her to heights that rivaled a perfection of 85%.
He smiled at her resolve.
"Fine." He nodded. "Let’s go together."
They both vanished from the chamber, racing toward the source of the disturbance.
