Chapter 6307 Unmatched Evilmoon
Chapter 6307 Unmatched Evilmoon
Just as everything was hanging by a thread, Long Chen arrived, blazing with killing intent. Had he arrived a single breath later, Di Mengyao’s Sovereign flames would have scattered. Even if she survived, her cultivation would have been crippled forever.
For Di Mengyao, such a fate would have been crueler than death. From the moment of her birth, she carried the hopes of the entire dragon race. The weight of their future pressed upon her every step, driving her to cultivate ceaselessly.
Her talent was extraordinary. Yet, what she possessed in talent, she lacked in experience. She had never been tempered against true experts of her level. After all, the dragon race had never dared risk her in such battles.
Her path was eerily similar to that of the Heavenly Bat Sovereigness—both unrivaled in cultivation talent and dazzling across the long river of history. Even among countless so-called heavenly geniuses, they stood at the pinnacle.
However, heaven’s blessings always came paired with heaven’s cruelty. Their fatal weakness lay in combat.
If Di Mengyao possessed the battle experience of the Dragonblood warriors, or even the honed instincts of Qing Yi and Xue Tu, these fellows would already be crushed beneath her feet. Regrettably, she had grown like a tiger in a cage. She was powerful enough to kill the wolves before her yet unable to unleash that strength properly.
“Lord Long Chen!” Di Mengyao exclaimed.
Relief washed across Di Mengyao’s pale face. Her complexion flickered between red and white, her breathing ragged. She had long since reached her limits and was only holding on through sheer will. The instant she relaxed, her vision spun, and she nearly collapsed.
Long Chen swiftly pressed a pill to her lips. “Hold on. You can’t faint yet. Recall your Sovereign flames—if you don’t, the Heavenly Daos will steal them, and all your efforts will be wasted.”
Although Long Chen had shattered the chains pulling her Sovereign flames, if she didn’t recall them into her body herself, a large portion of them would be absorbed by the Heavenly Daos.
Di Mengyao gritted her teeth and nodded. However, her worried gaze flicked toward the enemies surrounding them.
“Don’t look at them,” said Long Chen firmly. “Just focus on recovering. Leave everything else to me.”
Drawing a deep breath, Di Mengyao forced her hands into seals. She started the arduous process of reeling her flames back in.
“Long Chen?!” A furious roar shook the battlefield. “You dare interfere in the Netherdragon race’s affairs? Then die!”
One of the Netherdragon experts was the first to strike, his dragon fang spear surging with Sovereign might as it thrust at Long Chen.
But before the weapon could reach him, a thunderous explosion rang out. Blood-colored petals bloomed into a radiant shield, halting the deadly strike three meters away from him.
The clash unleashed terrifying ripples, yet behind the petal shield, Long Chen and Di Mengyao were unscathed.
“What?”
The Netherdragon expert’s face twisted in disbelief. The backlash numbed his arm, nearly wrenching the spear from his grasp. Those petals looked as delicate as drifting feathers, yet the power they emitted was unfathomable. The onlookers gasped in shock.
At that moment, Qing Yi quickly waved her hand, pulling her group away. She finally understood Long Chen’s intent—if they stayed, they would only hinder him. Worse, they would likely become hostages.
Quietly, she led them off without drawing attention.
BOOM!
Just as Qing Yi and the others withdrew, the rest of the Netherdragon experts attacked. A Divine Sovereign weapon cleaved down at Long Chen, only for another cascade of petals to materialize and block it.
“What is this?!” one of them roared in disbelief.
Each petal seemed weightless and fragile, yet when bunched together, they formed an impregnable bulwark, even against their Divine Sovereign magical items.
“Attack together! Don’t let that woman recover!” shouted one of the vile dragon race’s experts.
A storm of attacks rained down. In response, millions of petals swirled around Long Chen, continuously forming shields that blocked their attacks.
Driven mad, these experts poured out their strongest techniques. They were confident that such a tight defense had to be draining Long Chen’s energy. He couldn’t possibly last long.
Long Chen stood still, one of his hands pressing on Di Mengyao’s back. He didn’t dare to relax for even a breath. With his astral energy, he had to lock down her Sovereign flames so they didn’t flee.
The flames still struggled violently, desperate to flee. Fortunately, he had arrived in time to stop them from completely spiraling out of control.
Even so, suppressing them was immensely taxing. Di Mengyao’s Sovereign flames were the most numerous he had ever seen—so many that their combined power even threatened to surpass Long Chen’s astral energy.
It was exactly as Qing Yi had said: the final steps of this path were harder than ascending to the heavens themselves. The gap between each Sovereign flame was an abyss that defied imagination.
“Evilmoon, are you alright?” Long Chen asked.
With his focus entirely on helping Di Mengyao, Long Chen had to rely on Evilmoon to block all the attacks.
“Why? Did you think a group of ants could rattle me?” responded Evilmoon apathetically.
Long Chen was left speechless at its arrogance, but that response was enough to set him at ease.
With Di Mengyao’s own efforts added in, her Sovereign flames finally started to return to her body. Seeing this, Long Chen sighed in relief.
Once she regained control, the struggle lessened greatly. Within moments, Long Chen’s astral energy was no longer under crushing strain.
Even so, Long Chen kept acting nervous and on edge. Evilmoon also played along with his ruse, its defenses quivering as though on the verge of collapse, making their enemies believe that one more push would shatter it.
That illusion drove them mad with hope, and they launched their attacks even more frenziedly. This moment only highlighted how terrifying Evilmoon had become after devouring the black spider’s dark energy. Even without Long Chen’s Spiritual Strength to reinforce it, it easily withstood the combined might of these experts.
As Evilmoon had once boasted—it could hold this line for a month and three days without faltering.
Half an incense stick later, Di Mengyao succeeded in reclaiming all her Sovereign flames. She slowly opened her eyes, only to see Evilmoon’s shield trembling beneath the relentless barrage. At this moment, her heart clenched, and she gritted her teeth.
“Lord Long Chen, I’ll fight with you! We can fight together!”
However, her body betrayed her words. She was utterly drained, barely holding herself upright. It wouldn’t be good for her to keep fighting.
BOOM!
At that instant, one of the Netherdragon experts smashed through the scales of Evilmoon’s defense and lunged forward.
“Die!”
With a furious roar, his spear shot straight toward Long Chen’s back, intent on skewering both him and Di Mengyao in a single strike.
But when the tip of the spear was less than a foot away, another wall of blood-colored petals suddenly blossomed into existence, intercepting the attack with a resounding crack.
“What?”
That person was startled. Hadn’t he already broken through the petal barrier? Why was there still another layer here?
And then, his heart froze.
He realized with horror that the only one before him now was Di Mengyao—Long Chen had vanished from his spot.
