Chapter 3016: Under the Sea of Monsters I

Chapter 3016: Under the Sea of Monsters I

Adrian could not believe his very eyes as the monsters that were actually enslaved were all put into work in this seabed. All of them could be seen chipping away some sort of strange ore from the seabed. It was not bedrock or any type of rock that Adrian has seen before because it carried some sort of divine energy.

Adrian might not like deranged or monsters that become feral but these monsters here were clearly intelligent. It could be seen that they were all being controlled via collars engraved with runes. Adrian managed to see one of the collars up close for a moment and he could clearly see that it was the work of a powerful mage.

"The pattern and how it was engraved are all the same as the magic circle on the Sea Beast Boat. Whoever did the Sea Beast Boat magic circle is also the one that engraved such horrendous things. Those are basically an improved version of a slave collar but creating those are considered taboo." Adrian thought as he kept observing.

He then focused on the other action that the enslaved monsters were doing. All of the enslaved monsters were given cursed tools that are shaped into pickaxes. They strike at the strange luminous ore on the seabed and kept doing it until small fragments can be extracted from it. Even the most powerful of the monsters that he saw which is a cyclops can only take off a small amount per strike.

What Adrian did not like to see was that even monsters that were clearly still in the child stage are all being used. Even monsters have intelligence after all and they should not be subjected to something this cruel. Even Adrian’s soulbounds wanted to release their killing intent as they saw what was happening in front of them.

Adrian was watching carefully when one of the weakened enslaved monsters struck the ore with her pickaxe. As soon as she struck, a part of her life essence actually got absorbed and it broke the ore. The only problem is that she died from overusing her body and using her life essence to empower herself.

"No! She did not do it willingly! Those cursed weapons are using the energy in their bodies to create a force powerful enough to pierce that ore! All of the monsters here are basically expendable beings that would die and be replaced. They would all be used until the all of the ore from the seabed has been mined." Adrian thought as he suddenly remembered the special rules of the Sea of Monsters.

The Forbidden Zone called the Sea of Monsters is a place where even the gods of the oceans and seas do not regulate. It is a place that is filled with powerful sea beasts that will attack anyone that enters it. It is also a special place where even a god’s powerful divine foresight cannot breach. It was the perfect place to create a hideout that is away from the eyes of the gods.

"Still! What is that ore they are mining? The fact that they are mining something like that and even smuggling monsters to do so means it is very important for something. I need to check the other places and see what they are up to. I promise that I will try and help all of you escape this torture." Adrian thought as his soulbounds were actually asking him to free the monsters enslaved here.

Adrian knew that he could not just suddenly show up and then kill the guards here. He needed to find the one that controls the collars around the monsters. If he does not deactivate those collars then they might get controlled to attack him in waves. Even he cannot fight a large army of monsters while holding back.

Adrian followed the pirate looking humans towards one of the chambers. He thought that he was teleported to another place when he passed through the cavern walls. He was met with a large hall that is filled with food and many of these pirates laughing and eating cheerfully. He eavesdropped on their conversation and learned why they were enslaving monsters.

"Woooh! I never thought that such a thing would be possible for us but we are drowning in food and riches because of some fanatic believers of those so-called Titans!" One of the pirates stated as he gulped his large mug filled with alcohol.

"To think that they would pay us such an absurd price just to get monsters and let them work in their seabed mine. I never thought that the deal with using the Sea of Monsters were even real in the first place but it has changed our lives, lads!" A pirate captain shouted as he gave a cheer to everyone.

"They are not even knowledgeable of that ore and are just following orders. They do not even know that they have been marked with a magic circle that can make their heads explode." Adrian thought as he could not believe that these pirates were cheering but all of them are dead men walking.

Adrian knew that the one behind this is very meticulous to the point that they would kill everyone that knows of the operation once it is done. Whatever the monsters were mining in the seabed would still run out and all of them will die when that happens. The enslaved monsters do not have ticking magic circles in their head but he could guess that the slave collars also have that failsafe.

"These idiots are not the ones that I felt that familiar energy from. It should be other beings that might be related to the Titans since these pirates are always mentioning it. All of this points to Titans but those that are driven by madness are all locked in Tartarus. Maybe a titan that was neutral back then suddenly had a change of heart? Could the ore they are mining be used to open the gates of Tartarus?" Adrian thought as he suddenly silently went to a shadowy area.

Adrian then summoned Sirius via the shadows and told him to gather an ore fragment that was being collected. He needed to at least check or present it to some gods for them to verify. He did try inspecting the ore but all he got were jumbled symbols and question marks. The fact that his appraisal has given nothing meant that the ore might be something divine or more powerful.

"I need to check further. I can still feel life signals deeper into the caverns." Adrian thought as he phased through the walls and arrived at numerous smaller rooms.

The smaller rooms housed beings that looked human but did not feel human. It was like they were beings that have been overtaken by a different force. Adrian did not make contact because it was clear that these human husks were in a delirious trance. They were not beings that are in their right minds that could give him information.

Adrian then stumbled upon a group of these human fanatics that were discussing the use of the ores. They were different from the ones in the other rooms that were in a delirious trance. They all had this powerful force in their bodies and it was refined magic energy. One of them even has the most traces of these and Adrian could finally see who was the one that created the collars and magic circles on the boats.

Adrian could see that this Grand Mage is writing magic circles on the board. The same pattern usage has made Adrian sure that this was the one that controlled everything in this place. The only problem is that the slave collars are not connected to him as a lifeline. There should be a catalyst present in this area that serves as a conduit for the slave collars to be always activated.

"It is not enough! We need more power! We cannot force open the Gates of Tartarus with the supply that we have now. Tell the pirates to capture more monsters and put them to mine!" The Grand Mage Fanatic shouted.

"About that, Grand Mage... the Titan of the Ocean Oceanus has declared that he will no longer be in isolation. We can no longer enslave monsters in the waters above him because he has declared that no one shall disrespect his oceans." One of the Acolytes stated.

"What about those Followers of the Dark Gods?! We did not aid them for them to be so useless now!" The Grand Mage Fanatic stated.

"Our contact with them has already been killed. It seems that the promise that they would deliver powerful sea slaves would no longer be delivered. From what I have gathered, the Churches of the Underwater realm have all began a purge. Even the priests that they bribed to turn a blind eye have been killed because of heresy." Another Acolyte stated as the Grand Mage Fanatic suddenly saw red as his anger flared up.
