Chapter 373: Trident Of The Deep
Chapter 373: Trident Of The Deep
There were countless sharks and other apex predators. They all fought under his command, annihilating the orcs, but now all of them swarmed toward him.
’King. Don’t kill them, they’re being controlled.’ Percival communicated with King, who then spread out his arms, forcing the water to move away, creating a massive hole several hundred meters in radius. That area was devoid of water, from the surface to the ocean bed!
Everything fell, Conquest, the sea beasts, and the corpses of countless orcs. Only the leviathan floated mid-air.
With a roar, Conquest spun, his muscles bulging, veins protruding as he launched the trident. The shockwave sounded like a detonation as the trident flew toward Levi.
It became a blur. Levi was big. It would be hard to miss such a massive target.
But Percival retrieved his leviathan and fell downward, his eyes widening as the trident flew right past him.
Conquest manipulated water from afar and propelled himself into the air to meet Percival. The trident manifested out of water at the last moment, and he swung it at Percival.
Inches away from his face, Percival vanished, and a much smaller leviathan, not longer than twenty feet, lashed out, biting off the orc’s forearm!
The trident fell, turned into water, and reformed in Conquest’s other arm. With a loud roar, he swung it at Levi but was blasted with another powerful burst of water from the leviathan’s maw.
Conquest fell. King took advantage of the moment as he let go, allowing water to fill back that space while he shot upward with all his might.
A trident appeared in his hand, and he plunged it through the orc from its back. Conquest was preparing for Levi’s second blast, and by the time he realised something was heading for him, a trident had pierced through his chest.
Conquest’s eyes widened. He lost... how?
He had the weapon of an ancient god!
"I once fell and I rose but you won’t," Percival said, descending toward him. He manipulated the water to bring the trident towards him as Conquest was swarmed by countless sea creatures.
The orc roared defiantly, but the moment he acknowledged defeat in his heart, he lost ownership of the trident, and that made him defenceless at the bottom of the ocean.
His roars didn’t save him from being torn to shreds in a blink of an eye. King made sure he retrieved his core before a monster could consume it.
Percival, on the other hand, examined the trident. It had some drawings, a megalodon, a stingray, and other sea beasts. Some were small, some were quite big, and some he had not even seen before.
It might be that the sea creatures everyone who had ever wielded this weapon had killed were stored within it; the trident gained the ability to make them shape-shift into that creature.
That meant this trident was a legacy with countless sea creatures stored within it.
The trident also allowed him to make anyone able to breathe underwater as long as he was actively ensuring it. It also had great mastery in water manipulation and could draw water from almost anything, including living beings!
Percival’s eyes widened. ’What’s going on? How do I know all of this?! It’s like the trident is telling me what it can do... but drawing water out of people?! I’ll have to be insane to do that.’
"King." Percival called out and tossed the trident to his summon.
King grabbed it with both hands, studying the trident. Percival could sense the awe in his summon’s mind, and he chuckled.
Levi, who had become so small it looked like a snake, wrapped around Percival’s neck, glaring at him.
"You can’t wield a trident, bud."
Levi roared, although it sounded quite cute since he was so little. Or maybe that roar was of pain.
Levi released him and swam away, broken-hearted.
"Levi! Come on, we’ll get your favourites. Sardines!" Percival said loudly, but the leviathan didn’t even look back.
"King, watch him."
King nodded and followed the departing leviathan. King shook his head and tossed the trident over when they were a good distance away.
"Here, you can have it."
The leviathan wrapped itself around the trident and nodded. In the next moment, the trident unleashed a ripple, and a great number of octopuses made their way toward them.
King’s eyes widened as Levi grew in size and went after his food. This was much better than going around searching for these sneaky octopuses just to satisfy its cravings, which for today weren’t sardines.
On the other hand, Percival faced the surface, gazing at the scattered sunlight that looked just mesmerising from below.
He was pondering. The water spirit sacrificed itself for him and gave him an objective, which he had accomplished. But that aside, it had given him great power, as he had become the mana system of this world!
As he grew, the world grew.
It granted him near-invincible powers. He felt pulling up an island wasn’t even an impossible feat, but the problem was, while all this power was in him, he wasn’t the limitless water spirit.
He was still a summoner, subject to Earth’s mana system, which meant his mana couldn’t keep up.
The water spirit had given him a massive amount of mana, but a great chunk of it had depleted. On the upside, he could bring foes into this water world and fight them in his own terrain, and he had the ability to keep growing.
His eyes went to Conquest’s core. As long as he had a core, his summons would keep growing and growing because mana systems had no upper bar, but there was a time limit. In a few years, another water spirit would be born, and he would lose all these privileges.
Access to the water world and limitless potential.
So what he had was temporary.
Yet, even after knowing this, Percival wasn’t bothered. The power wasn’t his anyway, but if there was one thing he discovered from this battle and the water spirit’s sacrifice, it was peace was good, but battle was necessary to keep it.
He sighed. ’I need to round up things here. I’ve been away from paradise for too long. I wasn’t even there to console Godfrey, what a friend I’ve been.’
With that, he slowly ascended, heading for the surface with a peaceful face while countless sea beasts populated the depths beneath him.

’A credit of two hundred and fifty million.’ A golden-haired young man stared at his phone with disbelief. He knew clearing this purple gate dungeon would give him this amount, but seeing it in his account made him pause.
