Physician's Odyssey

Chapter 868 - You're more reliable

Chapter 868 - You're more reliable

That was life. There were many things that you had to be concerned about, down to finer details.

Su Tao’s ideal country couldn’t be created by treating several influential officials or dealing with bullies. Su Tao needed to be down to earth in the process, such as bargaining with a shrewd businessman like Yan Peng.

Although Su Tao did not place too much importance in money, he still showed a cunning side to him when he was bargaining with Yan Peng.

After Xia Yu gave a call to Su Tao to inform that Yan Peng had already arranged a contact person from his side, a smile rose on Su Tao’s lips. He knew that he had successfully convinced Yan Peng.

If Yan Peng could represent the Three Flavour Medicine’s products, they would be able to gain a footing in the domestic market swiftly. Furthermore, he could also make use of this opportunity to allow Tosca Pharmaceutical Conglomerate to enter China’s market. Su Tao was, after all, a small shareholder of Tosca, not to mention that he owed Joanna a promise.

Furthermore, there was a high requirement for imported medical equipment. Even if Tosca Pharmaceutical Conglomerate did not swallow up this market, other international giants like Fyrel Pharmaceutical Conglomerate would catch on the business opportunity.

Su Tao had a broad vision. He wanted everyone in the world to acknowledge TCM. Not only did he want to display his medical skills, but he also wanted TCM to influence the daily lives of everyone. So Chinese medicine was a suitable method, which he had been working hard on this path.

Despite his medical skills, there was a limit to what Su Tao could do as an individual. There was no way he could treat all the patients in the world by himself. But if he could generalize Chinese medicine, he could allow everyone in the world to feel TCM’s charm.

Although Joanna promised that Tosca Pharmaceutical Conglomerate would use their marketing channel and international position to bring Three Flavour Medicine into the global market, Su Tao needed to let Joanna taste sweetness beforehand.

Firstly, he needed to open up a market in China for Chinese medicine to show Joanna the potential and business opportunity. Secondly, he needed to help Tosca Pharmaceutical Conglomerate replaced Cambell Pharmaceutical Company in the medical equipment import field.

When the car drove into the south of the Third Ring, it passed through a flourishing street. Aside from famous business districts like Wangfujing, there were many other business districts. Due to the vast population, businessmen who were willing to invest would definitely not suffer a loss.

When the car drove around the corner, Su Tao saw a messy young man in his thirties. He looked scrawny and weak. It was already autumn, but he was wearing thin clothes crawling on the floor with great difficulty. There was a steel basin tied around his waist, which seemed sloppy.

“Please stop the car!” Su Tao suddenly called out.

The driver was surprised and immediately stopped the car by the roadside. The driver was baffled and asked, “I can’t just stop the car anywhere. What’s the matter?”

“Help me give these to him!” Su Tao took out all the large bills in his wallet and handed it to the driver.

The driver was stunned, wondering where this idiot came from. He tried to remind Su Tao, “These beggars are fake, trying to win our compassion.”

“Just give it to him.” Su Tao waved his hand with a bitter smile.

There were a lot of fake beggars in the streets, but Su Tao could tell that this young man had a serious disease. If this young man did not get himself treated immediately, he would definitely die within thirty days. After a brief pondering, he took out a name card and handed it to the driver as well, “Give this name card to him. Let him know that if there’s a need, he can go to the Three Flavour Hall to seek help.”

The driver took a close look at Su Tao. Although he did not know Su Tao, he had heard about the Three Flavour Hall from his customers. He knew that a National Healer founded the pharmacy, and the business was booming every day. Even his mother-in-law couldn’t get an appointment easily after five days.

Seeing that Su Tao’s kindness wasn’t an act, he got down the car and tossed the money over to the beggar.

When the beggar repeatedly thanked, the driver replied, “This is from my passenger. Call it a day quickly since you’re feeling unwell. Don’t let yourself be robbed by fellow beggars.”

The beggar nodded his head and quickly left with incredible difficulty.

After the driver returned to the car, he started the engine and spoke out, “Nine out of ten beggars are professionals at winning people’s compassion to making money nowadays.”

Su Tao shrugged. Looking at the high-rise buildings outside the window, he replied, “We still have to help that one last one. People can be compassionate towards animals, but they can turn a blind eye to people in need. That’s not the way of living.”

Turning the steering wheel, the driver replied, “It’s mainly because people are numb to it. People in Beijing feel that beggars are affecting the city’s appearance. So those beggars will be forcibly taken away by the relevant authorities if they’re found.”

Su Tao took out his phone and did not continue chatting with the driver. He felt helpless. This was the reality of this world. Some people could give up on their dignity to live, while some could give up on their humanity for their faces.

Returning to the Three Flavour Hall, Su Tao smiled when he saw Chen Rui walking over, “Is there any task for me today?”

“Who dares to order you around? You can just sit down here today.” Chen Rui smiled, shaking her head.

Five new employees were added yesterday. So the manpower in Beijing’s branch was sufficient, and Su Tao had no room to help out. He might be able to lessen the employee’s workload if he helped out, but at the same time, he would also be reducing their opportunities to practice. It was especially so for the new physicians. Those newcomers needed to feel some pressure to adapt to Three Flavour Hall’s rhythm.

Feeling bored, Su Tao held onto his phone and chatted with Cai Yan, Lu Shimiao, and Yan Jing. That was the benefit of the internet. Despite the distances apart, he could easily keep in contact with the women.

Sensing the vibration from his phone, Su Tao frowned. He looked at the phone, and it was a call from Su Mu. Picking it up, he asked curiously, “What’s the matter?”

“A colleague is twitching on the ground with white foam from his mouth. He looks to be in a serious condition.” Su Mu nervously replied.

“Have you called for the ambulance?” Su Tao asked. The company that Su Mu worked at was naturally Ni Jingqiu’s company. So Su Tao couldn’t just sit by idly.

“A colleague had already called for the ambulance. But I notified you because I feel that your medical skills are good.” Su Mu placed Su Tao before the ambulance, which made Su Tao feel touched.

Furthermore, Su Tao could tell that Su Mu was feeling very nervous right now, which meant that the person must be someone important to her or Ni Jingqiu’s company.

“I’ll set off right now. Send me the address when the ambulance reaches the hospital.” Su Tao solemnly replied.

After he ended the call, he started packing his medical box. He received a message from Su Mu roughly ten minutes later. Carrying his medical box, he waited outside for several minutes for the cab to arrive. He only reached the hospital half an hour later.

Su Mu was anxiously waiting outside the hospital. When she saw Su Tao coming down from the cab, she immediately went up to him, “The patient has already been sent to the emergency room. The doctor said that he might be suffering from poisoning, and they’re performing emergency treatment right now. But there might be side effects left behind since the emergency treatment was delayed. It might even cause a disability.”

“I’ll take a look immediately!” Su Tao replied solemnly.

When they arrived outside the emergency room, Su Mu pressed on the communication button. Two nurses came out when the sliding door opened. The nurse who looked older asked, “What’s the matter?”

“Can you let this physician beside me into the emergency treatment? He’s a famous National Healer.” Su Mu asked.

The nurse looked at Su Mu for a long time, as if she was looking at an idiot. She asked, “May I ask about your relationship with the patient?”

“We’re colleagues!” Su Mu quickly replied.

“The patient is currently in a critical condition, and you’re not his family or relatives. Let’s say that you’re his family or relatives. We can’t allow a random person into the emergency room. Not only is this the hospital’s rules, but we’re also responsible for the patient.” The nurse said in a solemn voice.

“But there’s a high chance of him treating the patient if he goes in.” Su Mu was growing anxious.

“Please don’t be unreasonable. If everyone brings someone random over and say that he’s a divine doctor, what will the emergency room look like?” The nurse sneered.

But just when Su Mu wanted to say something else, she was pulled to the side by Su Tao. Wearing a bitter smile, Su Tao calmed her down, “Relax. Let me think of something.”

Su Mu’s forehead was covered in sweat. Looking at her, Su Tao sighed. He could guess that she must have an unusual relationship with the patient, and this was why she reacted so violently.

Ni Jingqiu also rushed over when she heard the news. Seeing that Su Tao was also here, she looked at Su Mu and asked, “What’s the situation now?”

Shaking her head, Su Mu explained the situation to Ni Jingqiu. Letting out a sigh inwardly, Ni Jingqi asked, “How confident are you in treating him if you’re the one performing the treatment? His name is Lu Yunchuan, a talent in the company. He fully manages your TCM Cultural Project. If something happens to him, it will be extremely difficult finding someone to replace him. I’ll contact the hospital and see if they can make an exception.”

Ni Jingiqu immediately started making calls in the corner. Although the Ni Family had a huge background, it wasn’t easy finding the leader of a particular hospital so quickly. After a series of phone calls, she came back with a bitter smile, “I’ve already gotten someone to find the hospital’s leader, but I’m afraid that it will take some time.”

“Let me try!” Su Tao replied. He pondered briefly and gave a call to Yue Zun. When he explained the situation to the latter, Yue Zun smiled, “It’s nothing much. Wait for a moment. Let me check the address book for you.”

Ten-odd minutes later, the sliding door opened once more. A nurse came out urgently and yelled, “May I ask, who’s Mr. Su?”

Yue Zun easily got this done, relying on his connections.

Looking at such efficiency, Ni Jingqiu smiled, “It looks like you’re more reliable when it comes to the medical field!”

“I am!” Su Tao smiled and strode over.

When the nurse saw Su Tao, she wore an awkward expression. After all, Su Mu had just emphasized to her that Su Tao was a National Healer. Back then, she still claimed that Su Tao was just ‘anyone’ when Su Mu wanted Su Tao to enter the emergency room. But now, she had to invite him courteously. It felt like she was slapping her own face.
