Chapter 1000: Chapter 1217: Celebi
Chapter 1000: Chapter 1217: Celebi
Now all the wine that had been approved by the Champion Ambipom had been poured into a large barrel, and what followed next would depend on its performance.
All the Ambipom leaders around were staring at the Champion Ambipom at the center, their eyes filled with anticipation and excitement.
Julian also noticed this and, looking at the Champion Ambipom, made a gesture of invitation.
"Please begin your performance."
The Champion Ambipom nodded slightly, walked over to the large barrel, and took a small sip.
This poison wine couldn't even kill a Pseudo-Champion-level Pokémon, let alone Ambipom, who was at the Champion-level.
So naturally, there wasn't any real danger.
But the moment it took that sip, its expression looked like it had just eaten something disgusting.
"Is it really that bad? I don't believe it."
Just then, Celebi, who had been lying on top of Julian's head, suddenly flew over to the barrel. Before Julian could even stop it, it eagerly took a big gulp from the barrel.
Celebi refused to believe that something with such an amazing aroma could taste bad.
The expression that Champion Ambipom had just made was definitely meant to trick them, the goal being to stop them from drinking any.
If that fool (Julian) couldn't see through it, that was normal.
But how could its little buddy Jirachi, after so many years together, still be this slow?
In reality, the moment Celebi flew over, Jirachi reacted and tried to immediately follow—but just as it wanted to take off, Julian tightened his hold on it.
"Julian, what are you doing? I want to drink it too!"
Jirachi immediately began to struggle, watching unwillingly as its good buddy Celebi took a gulp—then urp~, clutching its stomach, Celebi's face turned green as it collapsed to the ground.
Julian let go of Jirachi and said calmly, "Go ahead and drink if you want. You're a First-class Legendary—you'll be fine."
With a First-class Legendary's physique, it should definitely be able to withstand this poison wine.
But Celebi couldn't—it was only a Pseudo-Champion.
Celebi lay on the ground, foaming at the mouth, its body twitching slightly. Its expression was full of disbelief, mixed with deep sorrow, as a tear quietly slid down from the corner of its eye.
It had eaten countless kinds of food in its life—even the worst "delicacies" from certain regions hadn't taken it down.
And yet… this time, it had truly been defeated.
It had actually been knocked down by a single sip of wine—collapsed on the ground, unable to even stand up, with foam coming out of its mouth.
And most importantly—
With great effort, Celebi turned its head, eyes wide with fury, because it saw that those two scoundrels, Julian and Jirachi—not only did they not come to help it or detoxify it—
They had instead immediately taken out their phones.
Julian aimed his phone camera at Celebi: "Kids, take note: never eat food of unknown origin, no matter how delicious it smells."
"Celebi has just personally demonstrated the consequences of consuming unknown substances for us."
"If you're greedy and eat things you shouldn't, you'll end up just like Celebi—foaming at the mouth and losing control of your bodily functions."
"I did NOT lose control of my bodily functions!"
Celebi immediately tried to refute, but the moment it opened its mouth, all that came out was foam.
And even if it had spoken clearly, there were hardly any humans in this world who could understand Pokémon speech.
Julian finished recording and saved the video.
Jirachi, meanwhile, was still holding its phone and had flown right up to Celebi's face, filming it directly in close-up.
At the same time, it asked with a mix of anger and relief: "When you flew over just now, why didn't you call for me?"
Though as a good brother, Celebi had just gone to "test the food," so Jirachi actually felt a bit lucky.
Celebi had no idea how to respond to its dear brother Jirachi and its uniquely wired train of thought.
More importantly, it realized that its tongue had gone numb and it couldn't even speak anymore.
The Champion Ambipom stared blankly at Celebi lying on the ground. Honestly, it had never expected someone to just run over and secretly take a sip.
Even with its Champion-level body, it had almost failed to withstand that wine. So the fact that Celebi hadn't passed out instantly already meant it had a strong physique.
'Though… is this "Nature Spirit" mentally fine?'
And it wasn't the only one thinking this.
Thousands of Ambipom present all shared the same thought.
They had never seen someone so recklessly brave.
The last one who had been this "brave" drank it—and turned directly into a puddle of blood.
By now, even the Berry tree growing on that grave was already four to five meters tall.
Celebi had no idea that its actions had completely lowered the Ambipom's impression of Celebi line as the "Nature Spirits."
Now they all suspected that every Nature Spirit must be, to some degree, a little unhinged in the head.
Otherwise, why else would it do something like this?
Julian had already walked up to Celebi and used his Probing Eyes to check its condition.
The word "Poisoned" immediately flashed into Julian's mind, and the poisoning was quite severe.
Of course, given Celebi's physique, the poison would be expelled from its system after half a day or so. But during that half day, it would have to lie on the ground, periodically blowing bubbles.
Those bubbles were actually the poison itself; the more it expelled, the more toxins it got rid of.
"Dad… save… save me…"
Celebi grabbed onto Julian's pant leg. Its good brother Jirachi was clearly unreliable—not shoving a camera in its face would already be a blessing—so it could only turn to Julian, its "old father," for help.
It hoped he would detoxify the poison.
It wasn't that its body felt particularly bad; physically, it didn't feel much of anything, aside from being unable to stand and the general paralysis.
But the real issue was the embarrassment.
It had spent its whole life eating anything and everything—and now it had been taken down by food itself.
A dark moment in history. The biggest black mark in its entire culinary career—probably there would never be a greater one.
"Let's see if you dare do this again."
Julian crouched down, took out an antidote, and injected it directly into Celebi.
There were pill-form antidotes too, but Celebi was currently foaming at the mouth—its lips covered in bubbles—so Julian found it too disgusting and chose the injection instead.
At the same time, he was quite surprised.
He knew this poison wine could kill anything below Pseudo-Champion level, but he hadn't expected it to be this strong—Celebi, a late-stage Pseudo-Champion with an "iron stomach," had still been taken down.
Thinking of this, Julian suddenly said, "Gengar, store about a hundred kilos."
This wine smelled way too good. If used for some underhanded tactics, the success rate would probably be very high.
He probably wouldn't need to resort to such trickery himself, but he could always give it to the Steel Guards.
The barrel held over a thousand kilos. So even if Gengar took a hundred, there would still be plenty left.
'Another Champion-level Pokémon…'
Watching the white Gengar collecting the wine, the Champion Ambipom sighed inwardly.
