Chapter 1021: Vespiquen
Chapter 1021: Vespiquen
Looking at so many Combee below, Julian was struggling to decide which of his generals to send into battle. If he wanted an easier option, he could simply dispatch his four top—Metagross, Moltres, Gengar, and Aggron.
If they were to appear, these Combee would surely be too terrified to move, but that would make things rather meaningless.
Better not send the four generals, then.
"Duraludon, Tyranitar."
After some thought, Julian sent out Duraludon and Tyranitar.

The two Pokémon appeared abruptly near the Combee hive, descending from the sky.
The ground shook several times upon their landing.
The surrounding Combee were bewildered by this sudden turn of events.
Though invaders often entered their territory, it was rare for anyone to appear so suddenly right at their hive.
Most Combee were responsible for gathering nectar and were inherently weak in combat. The strength of the Combee tasked with producing honey directly determined the quality of the Combee honey produced.
It could be said that the Combee hive not only housed the most powerful Vespiquen and its guard unit but also the strongest honey-producing Combee.
After the brief initial shock caused by the appearance of Duraludon and Tyranitar, the Combee’s reaction swiftly turned to intense hostility.
Sensing the invaders' immense power, they released pheromones, urging the surrounding Combee to retreat.
Immediately afterward, over a dozen Elite-level Combee charged toward Duraludon and Tyranitar, while the three early-stage Pseudo-Champion Combee remained behind to guard the hive.
Although Duraludon's defense couldn't match that of Aggron, at this level, few Pokémon of the same tier could break through its defenses.
For these dozen or so Elite-level Combee—who were not known for their offensive prowess—to hope to breach Duraludon’s defense was nothing short of wishful thinking.
Moreover, since the battle was taking place right next to the hive, these Combee feared that the aftershocks of the fight would damage it. The hive contained not only honey but also numerous Combee eggs and larval-stage Combee.
If the hive were damaged, casualties among the eggs and larvae would be inevitable.
Thus, they fought with restrained caution.
On Julian’s side, he refrained from ordering Duraludon to attack. After all, his goal was the honey—smashing the hive would only cause the precious honey to spill out.
So he simply had Duraludon stand its ground, taunting the dozen Elite-level Combee to attack it without fighting back.
Duraludon: "No strength, huh? Feels like you're tickling me!"
"That’s right, right there~"
"Don’t like me? Then hit me harder if you can!"
Faced with Duraludon’s relentless taunts, the dozen Combee grew furious, relentlessly bombarding it with moves—yet they couldn’t inflict even a scratch.
With Duraludon drawing all the aggro, Tyranitar had already begun advancing toward the hive.
However, it was soon intercepted by the three Pseudo-Champion Combee.
"Metagross, shield the hive," Julian said.
In the next instant, several barriers of light encased the hive, protecting it from all sides.
"Tyranitar—Mega Evolve!" Julian called out.
With the hive shielded by Metagross’s Light Screen, Julian had no more worries. These three Pseudo-Champion Combee could serve as decent opponents for Tyranitar.
As the multicolored light of Mega Evolution faded, Mega Tyranitar emerged.
Originally a Totem-class Pokémon standing over seven meters tall, its height increased even further upon Mega Evolving.
Compared to the Combee, which were only as large as its foot, the sheer difference in size was staggering.
An aura of ferocity radiated from Mega Tyranitar as it glared menacingly at the three tiny opponents before it.
The three Combee suddenly froze in place, seemingly intimidated by Mega Tyranitar’s presence, but Mega Tyranitar did not care whether they could move or not.
A fist wreathed in blazing flames, carrying scorching heat, suddenly struck the Combee positioned in the center.
With a loud bang, the latter was sent crashing heavily into the Light Screen protecting the hive.
"…So weak."
Mega Tyranitar felt a slight disappointment upon seeing the Combee knocked out in a single move.
Within a few seconds, the other two Combee were also swiftly defeated by Mega Tyranitar.
Thud!
Hearing the commotion outside, the Vespiquen inside the hive couldn’t help but fly out—only to crash headfirst into the Light Screen.
"Ouch, that ought to hurt!"
Hearing the sound, even Julian winced in sympathy for the Vespiquen.
"Look where you’re flying—what are your eyes even for?" Julian muttered, rather unsympathetically.
If the Vespiquen had heard Julian’s words, it definitely would have exploded in anger.
Who would have thought its home would be encased in a transparent Light Screen? It had rushed out in a hurry and ended up smashing straight into it.
And yes, it really did hurt.
The durability of the Light Screen exceeded Vespiquen’s expectations. Despite being at the mid-stage Pseudo-Champion level, even after over a dozen attacks, the barrier remained unbroken—not even a single crack appeared.
Metagross: 'With your strength, you’d probably need a full year to break this Light Screen.'
Seeing that it couldn’t shatter the barrier, and witnessing its three Pseudo-Champion guards already defeated—while the dozen or so Elite-level guards were being swatted down like flies by Duraludon, one slap each—Vespiquen suddenly let out a piercing screech from behind the Light Screen.
