Chapter 1045: Chapter 1262: Parent-child Activity

There was no way Moltres would let Arcanine ride on its back, so it completely ignored Arcanine's words. With a spread of its wings, it vanished from Arcanine's sight in an instant.

"Arf!"

Arcanine gnashed its fangs as it watched Moltres disappear.

"Just you wait! Today I'll show you that running on the ground is faster than flying in the sky!"

With that, it immediately activated Extreme Speed, and its body vanished on the spot.

A second later, a violent gust of wind erupted, blowing over the guards who had just managed to stand back up.

And this gale didn't dissipate—it followed the path of Arcanine's advance all the way forward.

"Champion Duke, will this cause trouble?"

Seeing this scene, one of the guards asked worriedly.

The wind wasn't actually all that powerful in terms of destructive force, but at close range it could knock a person off their feet. If this reached a populated area, it would definitely cause unnecessary panic.

"Don't worry, it won't be a big deal," Duke shook his head.

Champion-level Pokémon had refined control over their power down to the smallest detail, and Pokémon of this caliber possessed intelligence surpassing that of many humans.

As long as Arcanine wasn't a complete fool, it would either bypass the city or leap between the rooftops of the buildings.

"Hmph, dumb dog, think you can catch up to me?"

Moltres spotted a fiery red streak of light racing rapidly below.

Without even thinking, it knew it was Arcanine. Sneering inwardly, it accelerated once more. It had no desire to be overtaken by that ground-running dumb dog, or it would never hear the end of the mockery.

Arcanine, of course, did not choose to detour around the city.

If it did that, it would never catch that stupid bird. Instead, it opted to leap between the rooftops of the city, moving at a speed no slower than running on flat ground.

Back home in Lake City, Julian was lying on his favorite sofa, with freshly cut fruit that Love had just prepared laid out before him.

As if sensing something, he turned his gaze in a certain direction.

"It seems Moltres and Arcanine have come out," Julian softly said.

Calculating the time, those two were indeed due to emerge. He hadn't seen them in almost a year, and he really did miss them.

A joyful smile unconsciously appeared on his face.

"Mage~"

Magearna picked up a small piece of fruit and fed it to Nebby beside her.

"Cos~"

Nebby narrowed its eyes in contentment, thoroughly enjoying the treatment. It opened its mouth again, signaling Magearna to keep feeding it, perfectly at ease and entirely unashamed.

"Jiggly~ Puff—"

Julian's phone rang. And looking at the caller ID, it was his uncle, Henry.

"Julian there's a parent-child activity at Jade's Kindergarten at 1 p.m. Alice and I had something come up last minute and can't make it. You go instead."

Then without even waiting for Julian to answer, he hung up, as if he really did have something urgent to deal with.

Julian was a bit dumbfounded—he hadn't even agreed yet.

He checked the time: it was now 12:40. Only twenty minutes until the parent-child activity started.

Beldum Kindergarten was the most expensive private kindergarten in Lake City.

And as the name suggested, it was connected to the Walker family. Julian himself had attended this kindergarten when he was little, and now Jade did too.

Beldum Kindergarten was divided into junior, middle, and senior levels, with each level containing three classes, and each class holding at most twenty children.

Because it was a private kindergarten, the expensive tuition was actually the least important issue. There were plenty of wealthy people in Lake City.

The real difficulty was qualification.

Those who could enter this kindergarten were either direct descendants of families affiliated with the Walkers, families or trainers on good terms with the Walkers, or at the very least executives from companies or groups that had important partnerships with the Walker Group.

Beldum Kindergarten spots had always been highly sought after, and ever since Jade enrolled, they had become even more fiercely contested for.

Who was Jade?

She was the little princess publicly recognized by the people of Drakoria.

Julian's younger sister.

The treasured jewel of the Walker family, and a child showered with boundless affection.

So if your child became her classmate, even just in kindergarten, then in the future there would be at least some thread of connection to Jade.

And if, by some stroke of luck, your child got along well with Jade and earned her approval, wouldn't your family's fortunes just skyrocket?

Beldum Kindergarten held a parent-child activity once a month. The time was basically always set for 1 PM on the second Friday of each month. And Henry and Alice had never missed one.

Back when Julian was attending, there had also been such activities.

But because Julian found them too childish, after participating once, he wouldn't let Jake and Tina come anymore.

Even back then, he had displayed a maturity far beyond his peers in front of them.

Now that it was almost one o'clock, many parents had already arrived.

Jade looked left and right but still didn't see her parents. Normally by this time they would already be here.

Aside from the subtle encouragement from their parents at home, the main reason she was so popular was simply that Jade was too adorable—she had reached the level of charming both boys and girls indiscriminately.

Otherwise, even with parental hints, children that young wouldn't really grasp what their parents meant.

"Salamence!"

In Lake City, there were only a handful of trainers who owned a Salamence, and the most famous were undoubtedly Julian and Jake.

"Could it be that Champion Walker has come?" a trainer speculated.

As Salamence descended, the rider on its back quickly came into view.

It really was Julian.

The surrounding people looked at Julian as he jumped down from Salamence's back, their faces filled with shock and surprise.

Who would have thought that attending a parent-child activity would lead them to meeting Champion Walker?

"Big brother!"

Jade had, of course, spotted Salamence too and recognized it at once as her brother's.

She immediately dashed out, sprinting toward Julian.
