Chapter 1049: Chapter 1266: Winter Vacation Homework

[Ding!]

[Daily Mission Issued!]

[Mission Objective: Go to Gallia and eat snails.]

[Reward: 300,000 points, and one 'Horrifically Bad Culinary Skills'.]

---

Just after breakfast, the daily mission had already arrived.

Looking at the mission reward, Julian's expression turned a bit odd. Horrifically Bad Culinary Skills—could something like this even be considered a reward?

The last time he had received a similar reward was… It seemed to have been the 'Hair-Butchering Barber Skills.'

A reward related to cooking was a first for the System, and yet the very first one had to be something like this.

As for cooking, with Julian's current ability, whatever he cooked definitely wouldn't be as delicious as Slowking's, but it was still absolutely edible.

But if he was rewarded with this culinary skill, would his original cooking ability be overwritten by the reward? Or, since his original cooking skill was above the level of "horrifically bad," would it simply not be affected by this?

Julian was quite curious about it, so naturally, he accepted the mission.

"Slowking, Love, no need to prepare my portion for lunch. I have something to take care of and need to go out."

Julian said to the two who were clearing the table.

"Slow~"

"Dee~"

The two nodded.

Neither of them asked what Julian was going out for. Since he only said he wouldn't be eating lunch, that meant he'd still be home for dinner, so whatever it was probably wasn't that important.

Arriving in the backyard, Julian checked on the female Tyranitar. Because of her pregnancy, she had now become the household's top-priority protected subject.

Her husband wouldn't leave her side for a moment and wouldn't even allow certain Pokémon to get close to his wife—such as Arcanine and Melmetal, those two hyperactive fellows—fearing they might accidentally knock his wife over.

Gengar had shown him cases of human women whose miscarriages were caused by a single fall or simply overexertion, which put Tyranitar's nerves especially on edge.

In reality, given a Pokémon's physique, the likelihood of a miscarriage was relatively low.

And for a species like Tyranitar, that probability was even lower, unless it engaged in intense battle during the pregnancy and sustained considerable injuries; only in such a scenario would miscarriage be likely.

Julian hadn't kept the news of Tyranitar's pregnancy a secret, so some families with more extensive information networks had already learned of it.

Julian's Tyranitar was carrying the child of his Totem-class Tyranitar, meaning the future Larvitar had a certain chance of also being a Totem Pokémon.

Even if it wasn't, its Potential would definitely be extremely high—calling it a Champion seed wouldn't be an overstatement.

So some families, especially those specializing in Rock-types and Dark-types, were all hoping to obtain the Tyranitar's egg.

The things they offered were indeed quite excellent, and a few of them even tempted Julian.

But he turned them all down. The baby hadn't even been born yet—what was the rush?

And this was Tyranitar's child. If it were really to be given away, it would need Tyranitar's consent first.

---

By noon, Julian had arrived at a certain restaurant in Gallia.

Wearing a large pair of sunglasses and having left Celebi and Jirachi behind—plus being abroad—no one recognized him.

And he had already finished eating the snails.

As one of Gallia's famous dishes, escargot genuinely tasted decent. As long as one could overcome the psychological barrier, it was definitely worth trying.

And Julian had eaten quite a few snails—the plates numbered over a dozen. After all, each plate only had three snails; how could that fill him up?

Naturally, afterward he ordered several other dishes as well, though the portions were all extremely small, basically disappearing in just a few bites.

This was also a characteristic of Gallia's high-end restaurants—the main features being tiny portions and high prices.

The taste, however, really was excellent.

Otherwise, if someone still came here to eat, they'd truly be a fool with more money than sense.

The mission was already complete, and the reward had been issued.

Just as Julian was preparing to leave, a restaurant waiter suddenly walked over.

"Ex… cuse… me… sir…"

The waiter was actually speaking in Drakorian, but it was terribly non-standard. Julian didn't catch it at all—what on earth was this guy trying to say?

So Julian directly responded in Gallian: "Do you need something?"

The waiter was visibly taken aback, then asked: "You're Gallian?"

"I'm from Drakoria," Julian said.

Due to a previous Daily Mission reward of 'Mastery Of All Languages,' Julian could speak every language in the world, and all with perfect native fluency.

"Your accent is so standard!"

The waiter praised him sincerely. If not for Julian's appearance, he genuinely would've believed Julian was Gallian.

Then he pulled out two books covered in Drakorian text.

"I found these in the restroom. They must have been left behind by a Drakorian guest. Could you please help me return them?"

Looking at the two books, Julian's expression turned a bit strange.

"XXX Winter Vacation Homework"

On the cover was a name and school written in pencil.

---

[Ding!]

[Side Mission Issued!]

[Mission Objective: Return the winter vacation homework to its owner.]

[Reward: Mewtwo Fragment x4.]

---

[T/N: At last!]

Julian had been about to refuse, but when he saw the System had actually issued a mission, and the reward was Mewtwo fragments—the exact four he was still missing—he got so excited that even his faced turned a bit red.

"Alright."

He immediately agreed.

After handing the books to Julian, the waiter left.

Finding the whole situation rather amusing, Julian took out his phone, set it up, and started recording a video.

"XX from Class 3, Grade 2 of XX Elementary School, you left your winter vacation homework in a restaurant restroom in Gallia."

"The restaurant waiter just handed it to me. You are way too careless."

"Winter break is almost over. So if your homework goes missing, won't your teacher just think you never did it?"

As he spoke, Julian curiously opened one of the workbooks. The very first page was completely blank. He flipped through a few more pages, and it was all blank.

He checked the second book as well—also blank.

So neither of the two winter vacation homework books had been written in at all.

Now Julian understood why the kid had left the homework in the bathroom. Turns out it wasn't left behind by accident—it was deliberately abandoned there.

Thinking about how there were only three days left until winter break ended, and neither book had been touched...

And the system was telling him to return the books to that child.

Julian suddenly felt the weight of his sins was truly profound.

[T/N: We finally have confirmation. The System is evil!]

So he said, full of apology, "I'm so sorry, I didn't know you hadn't written anything at all. There are still three days left... and I'll make sure you get it on the very last day."

"You can pull off the classic: one night, one pen, one miracle."

"Good luck."

"Pfft-hahaha sorry hahaha..."

In the end, Julian just couldn't hold it in and burst out laughing, collapsing onto the table.

He loved System missions like this one. He'd be willing to do this kind of mission even without any reward.

For no other reason than it was just plain fun.

"Ahem, no more laughing. Little friend, though you're still young, it's time you learned just how cruel society can be. In the future, when you ditch your homework, you absolutely must not write your name or school on it."

With that, Julian stopped recording the video.

Then he figured it had been a while since he last posted on TikTok, so he uploaded the video directly.
