Chapter 1062: Chapter 1279: Severely Injured
Chapter 1062: Chapter 1279: Severely Injured
Metagross single-handedly held back ten peak Champions, but there were still ten late-stage Champions remaining, even though Julian's other Pokémon were doing everything they could to stop them—the pressure was still immense.
Aggron alone intercepted four late-stage Champions. And it was the second highest-level and second strongest Pokémon among Julian's team, just behind Metagross.
Dragonite was holding back three.
And the remaining three were intercepted by Arcanine, Tyranitar, Moltres, and Kartana. But in terms of level, even the highest among them, Moltres, was only level 93.
Originally, they could have barely held them off, but after Lucario killed the peak Champion Hydreigon, the black smoke within its body was absorbed by the Garchomp they were holding back.
The Garchomp's strength instantly broke through from late-stage Champion to Champion peak.
In an instant, Garchomp appeared in front of Tyranitar and slashed down with a Dragon Claw.
With a sharp crack, Tyranitar's sturdy armor broke under that single strike, the wound stretching from its neck all the way to its abdomen.
"Tar!"
Wracked with pain, Tyranitar's inner ferocity completely erupted. It was a Pokémon known as a tyrant—once enraged, rivers changed course and mountains collapsed.
Outrage activated, and its entire body surged with a blood-red energy, its eyes completely overtaken by a crimson glow.
The overwhelming, unbridled aura made even the peak Champion Garchomp involuntarily take a step back.
"TAR!!"
With a furious roar, Tyranitar's gigantic Totem-class body crossed the distance to Garchomp in only a few strides.
Its fangs, imbued with an extremely cold energy, sank into the Garchomp's shoulder.
Ice Fang indeed dealt considerable damage to the Dragon-type Pokémon, but Garchomp was a puppet now, and its sense of pain had been drastically dulled.
So while the damage was real, it barely felt any pain.
A Dragon Breath was blasted directly at Tyranitar's face—the immense impact forcing Tyranitar's body to stumble backward step by step.
"Arf!"
Seeing this, Arcanine immediately activated Flare Blitz. Flames scorched the air as a wave of searing heat rolled forward.
Sensing the disturbance behind it, Garchomp twisted its neck and redirected the Dragon Breath straight at the incoming Flare Blitz.
Instantly, Arcanine felt a tremendous resistance ahead, and the speed of Flare Blitz dropped sharply, and once its charging momentum was halted, it couldn't push forward at all. Even the flames enveloping it began to show signs of collapsing.
"Gen!"
Gengar suddenly appeared behind Garchomp, hurling Hypnosis andWill-O-Wisp one after another at it.
But because Garchomp's self-awareness had mostly faded, having been reduced to a puppet, Gengar's Hypnosis had no effect whatsoever.
And even though its entire body was engulfed in ghostly blue flames, Garchomp acted as if it felt nothing.
Ending its Dragon Breath, Garchomp lunged forward and appeared before Arcanine. As a Dragon Claw came slashing down, a deep gash tore open on Arcanine's left side—blood sprayed everywhere, exposing ribs and internal organs.
But it wasn't over yet. Another Dragon Claw landed, adding a horribly clean wound across its abdomen.
And then came the final strike—Metal Claw—aimed straight for Arcanine's heart.
"Tres!"
Moltres: "Dumb dog!!"
Julian: "Lucario!"
Lucario had just experienced a brief lapse in stamina due to its earlier Burst State.
Only a few seconds after recovering slightly, Julian's urgent voice rang out inside its mind.
A sweep of Aura outward instantly told it what was happening. The bone staff in its hand became enveloped in a milky-white glow, its tip sharpening to a point.
"Luca!"
The bone staff transformed into a spear of light and was hurled straight toward Garchomp.
Riiip!
At that exact moment, Garchomp's Metal Claw had already pierced through the flesh covering Arcanine's heart and was about to end its life—when a spear of light suddenly blasted through Garchomp's own heart.
The remaining force of the attack nailed Garchomp directly to the ground.

It was thanks to this treasure that Lucario had learned Sirfetch'd's exclusive move, Meteor Assault—a move with terrifying destructive power.
"Luca…"
After using Meteor Assault, Lucario's stamina was nearly depleted—it dropped to one knee.
The Burst State had already been deactivated. As keeping it active would not only endanger its life, but in its current state, even without deactivating it, it wouldn't be able to continue fighting anyway.
Julian immediately severed the Aura Link on his end and rushed over to Arcanine and Milotic.
Both Pokémon were suffering from extremely severe external injuries.
Celebi was continuously hurling one Heal Pulse after another, but the effects were minimal.
"Julian, there's some kind of energy in their wounds blocking my Heal Pulse. The healing effect is being greatly reduced!" Celebi said anxiously.
Again—it was the Demon God's power.
Julian clenched his fists, watching Arcanine and Milotic, their bodies and the ground beneath them stained crimson with blood—their auras had already become very weak.
Fortunately, with Potions and Heal Pulse supporting them, their lives should no longer be in danger.
Julian recalled Arcanine and Milotic into their Poké Balls. In their current state, they could no longer remain outside.
"Arf…"
However, Arcanine signaled for Julian to wait.
It removed the Golden Fire Stone and used the last of its remaining strength to toss it toward Moltres.
Arcanine: "Stupid bird, I will lend it to you."
Moltres: "Should've given it to me long ago."
In the earlier battles, Arcanine hadn't managed to trigger the Golden Fire Stone's effect at all, so it was now passing the stone to Moltres.
"Lucario, stay by my side and recover your stamina for now."
Julian handed a stamina-recovering Potion to Lucario.
Lucario wasn't injured, but because it had activated the Burst State earlier, it had expended an immense amount of stamina.
"Mel…"
Melmetal watched as two of its companions were critically injured one after another.
Although the number of enemies had decreased, every time an enemy fell, the remaining ones' strength surged dramatically.
At this moment, it deeply regretted not training harder in the past. If it could have broken through to the Champion tier, it would surely be able to help its trainer now.
Steelix felt the same regret.
They were both the ultimate slacker duo.
Even when Arcanine trained diligently every day, the two of them would only make half-hearted efforts, training sporadically at best—and with Julian's indulgence, even those sporadic efforts were half-hearted.
And now look what happened, their trainer was facing a life-or-death crisis, their companions were being gravely wounded one after another, and all they could do was stand by and watch.
The sense of powerlessness and remorse in their hearts made every moment sheer agony.
Sensing the emotions of his two Pokémon, Julian said nothing.
After all, he was at fault too—he was the one who had been too lenient. And besides, right now was not the time for comforting them.
