Chapter 1072: Chapter 1289: Going To Die?

The Heart of Arceus was something Julian obtained after killing a guy suspected to be a "Protagonist"—Julian had long since forgotten his name.

Note: Enhanced by the Heart of Arceus—all stats boosted, potential increased.

It seemed like a simple explanation, but as for exactly how much the stats and potential were enhanced—even Julian and Metagross, the parties involved, didn't actually know.

Moreover, Metagross had always felt that a considerable portion of the Heart of Arceus remained unabsorbed by itself, and no matter what it tried, it simply couldn't absorb that part.

Now, facing the attacks of several Pseudo-First-class Legendaries, Mega Metagross discovered an inexplicable surge of energy within its body.

With the help of this energy, its wound recovery speed and stamina recovery were both accelerating.

Even though the wounds healed relatively slowly due to the presence of Demon God's power, compared to Dragonite and Aggron, Mega Metagross's recovery speed was still much faster.

Even the Master had noticed this.

"Dragonite, Dragon Rush!"

Her voice rang out—this was the first time she issued a command aloud. Before this, she had always controlled these Pokémon through mental commands.

As Dragonite launched its Dragon Rush, its target was not Mega Metagross, but Julian.

The other four Pseudo-First-class Legendaries made no move.

Giga Impact!

A green energy and a silver energy collided in midair, instantly erupting in a brilliant burst of light like fireworks.

In a one-on-one, Mega Metagross held an absolute advantage.

Cracking and snapping sounds echoed.

Dragonite's Dragon Rush was crushed by Mega Metagross's Giga Impact. All the bones in its body broken, and in the blink of an eye, Dragonite was reduced to a pile of minced flesh.

A wisp of black smoke rose and was absorbed by the nearest Hydreigon.

The opponent's level increased from 100.1 to 100.3.

And since that Tyranitar had died earlier, its black smoke had been absorbed by a Salamance, whose level then rose to 100.3 too.

In an instant, the Master had lost another Pokémon.

Only four remained.

But Julian's face showed no expression of joy—instead, it grew even more solemn.

Earlier, he had intended for Metagross to stall for time, waiting for the right moment to wipe out all five Pseudo-First-class Legendaries at once. That way, even if the black smoke remained, without any Pokémon left, the smoke would be useless.

But the Master seemed to have guessed Julian's intentions and ordered the Pokémon to attack him directly. Under those circumstances, Metagross had no choice but to engage.

The number of the Master's Pseudo-First-class Legendary-level Pokémon had dropped from five to four, but their quality had risen—making them even more dangerous.

It continued.

Next, the crippled Garchomp died. Before dying, however, the level 100.4 Garchomp used Dragon Claw and inflicted considerable damage upon Mega Metagross.

It tore a wound over ten centimeters wide across Mega Metagross's back, the gash stretching all the way through the entirety of its back.

After the level 100.4 Garchomp died, the black smoke it turned into was taken in by another Dragonite, whose level then skyrocketed to 100.6.

Its aura swelled violently in an instant, and within the cracks spreading across its body, energy like flowing magma began to course through.

Now the Master only had three Pseudo-First-class Legendaries left: the level 100.6 Dragonite, the level 100.3 Hydreigon, and the level 100.3 Salamence.

And the aura currently radiating from that Dragonite caused Julian's heart to suddenly tighten, while the Unown inside his body were frantically sounding alarms.

"Dragonite, Mega Punch!" the Master called out sharply.

"Metagross, Mega Punch!" Julian responded.

The two moves collided, and after a few seconds of deadlock, with a thunderous boom, Mega Metagross was sent hurtling like a meteor into the ground below.

The ground continuously bulged upward, while Mega Metagross itself had no idea how deep underground it had been sent crashing.

"Luca!"

Lucario stared at the scene in disbelief.

The invincible Metagross had actually been smashed into the depths of the earth in a head-on clash, and it seemed to have barely put up any resistance at all.

"Cough—"

Because Julian and Mega Metagross were linked through the Flow State, whenever Mega Metagross was injured, Julian would also be hurt in turn. Earlier, the damage Mega Metagross had sustained had already fed back onto him, but he had forcibly endured it.

And now, with Mega Metagross blasted deep into the ground by that single punch, the resulting damage pushed Julian's body to its absolute limit, causing him to violently spit out a mouthful of blood.

His face turned deathly pale.

Deep underground, Mega Metagross sensed Julian's terrible condition and tried to sever the connection between them, but was immediately stopped by Julian.

"You can't cut it off."

Julian's voice was firm.

A portion of Metagross's current injuries were being shouldered by him, and his power was infused within its body. The moment the connection was severed, Mega Metagross's power would drop, and at the same time, its injuries would instantly worsen.

He was already at a disadvantage—if they did this, the disadvantage would grow even larger, and then there truly would be no chance of turning the tide and winning.

People all over the world watched as Mega Metagross was smashed into the earth and Julian coughed up blood, their hearts rising into their throats.

And the people of Drakoria were especially on edge.

> "What do we do, what do we do—is Champion Walker going to die?!"

> "That Dragonite became way too powerful after absorbing the black smoke!"

> "Damn it, what kind of evil, dark power is this?!"

> "Where are the reinforcements? Why haven't they arrived yet? If Champion Walker dies, what use will reinforcements even be?"

---

Countless citizens watched Julian on the screen with deep worry.

And at home, the moment the image of Julian coughing up blood appeared, Love's tears fell in huge droplets, while Tina fainted outright.

Quinn covered her mouth, tears streaming ceaselessly down her cheeks.

Jade was also wailing and crying out for her brother.

While Henry's eyes were bloodshot, his body trembling faintly.

Among the higher-ups of Drakoria, everyone fell into a heavy silence.

James pulled out his phone and dialed a number.

"Your grandson is about to die—where the hell are you?! Do you want us to be the old ones burying the young?!"

"John, I'm telling you—once you get there, have your Pokémon self-destruct directly and destroy that goddamn barrier!"

James roared. After he finished, he hurled his phone violently onto the ground.

"Has there still been no response from the Sky Altar?" he asked.

"None," a staff member replied. "It seems to be blocked by some kind of energy. We suspect it's same Demon God energy."

The Sky Altar could summon Rayquaza, but it required the life of a Champion as the price.

After the Master's Pokémon reached the Pseudo-First-class Legendary tier, Drakoria had sent Champion Williams to the Sky Altar, hoping to summon Rayquaza to break through the Godless Barrier.

But until now, there had been no response from the Sky Altar at all.
