Chapter 1084: Chapter 1301: Afterwards

In the backyard, Julian was lying against the fluffy belly of Arcanine, staring blankly at the sky—it looked like he was spacing out.

Over half a month had passed since the last incident.

Of course, the buzz still hadn't died down.

Topics about Julian, Metagross, the Master, and the Demon God were still being hotly discussed online.

Julian himself, however, had been holed up at home for over half a month since the incident. He did post one short video during that time, letting everyone know that he was fine, everything was okay, and his Pokémon were okay too.

He even made a point of filming Dragonite, who had already recovered from its injuries.

Dragonite itself never expected that such severe injuries could be healed outright, and that its strength had even improved.

As expected of its trainer—absolutely amazing.

Of course, how its injuries had been healed, Julian naturally wasn't going to tell it.

"Xerneas, that bastard, doesn't play by the rules..."

Julian, still spacing out, suddenly muttered to himself.

He had thought that when Xerneas demanded five hundred years of his lifespan in exchange for saving Dragonite, it was a test of his character—to see if he truly cared about Dragonite.

That kind of test appears all the time in novels and TV shows, doesn't it?

But as it turned out, Xerneas had been dead serious. That bastard actually took away five hundred years of his lifespan.

Now, Julian only had eighty years left, and from those eighty years, he still had to subtract his current age.

He had painstakingly built his lifespan up to over five hundred years, and now not only had all the increases been taken away, but part of what had originally belonged to him was deducted as well.

In other words, even his principal had shrunk.

"Sigh..."

Julian let out a soft sigh.

No rush. After all, there were still over fifty years left—plenty of time for him to grow stronger. When the time came, he would definitely catch that bastard.

"Tres~"

Moltres, who had been out roaming the skies, returned.

"Arf!"

Hearing that cry, Arcanine, who had been dozing, immediately shot to its feet, causing Julian, who had been leaning against its belly, to fall to the ground with a thud.

"Stupid bird, give me back the Golden Fire Stone!"

Arcanine kept barking furiously at Moltres in midair, flinging plenty of drool from its mouth.

During the battle with the Master, Arcanine had been severely injured and recalled into its Poké Ball by Julian, but it had entrusted the Golden Fire Stone to Moltres.

Using the Golden Fire Stone along with two other Ultimate treasures, Moltres had unleashed a sixty-times-powered Flamethrower, instantly obliterating nine late-stage Champion-level opponents in one shot.

You could say it had stolen the spotlight in spectacular fashion.

After the battle ended and Arcanine was revived, it naturally wanted to get the Golden Fire Stone back.

But Moltres, having witnessed firsthand how powerful the Golden Fire Stone was, had absolutely no intention of returning it.

And with this dog having just been revived and its level reset, it had been no match for Moltres to begin with. Now, the current Arcanine couldn't beat Moltres, and even Bisharp could bully it.

So Moltres simply usurped the Golden Fire Stone.

This drove Arcanine so mad that it cursed at Moltres every single day.

Moltres operated on the principle of "curse all you want, I'm not giving it back no matter what, and I'll even curse back at you," which made Arcanine howl in fury.

Arcanine was thoroughly enraged. 'I lent it to you to use, so what do you mean you're not giving it back?'

"What do you mean 'your' Golden Fire Stone? It's on me now, so it's mine, you dumb dog."

Moltres stood on a large tree where it had its nest, looking down at Arcanine below with mockery.

"I'll burn you to death!"

Arcanine roared furiously and launched a Flamethrower straight at Moltres.

But as a level 10 Pokémon, even Julian could dodge its Flamethrower, let alone Moltres.

Letting the Flamethrower wash right over its face, Moltres remarked with a puzzled tone, "That gust of wind just now felt quite pleasant, and rather warm too."

"Arf! Arf! Arf!"

With sarcasm dialed to the max, the infuriated Arcanine ran over to Julian.

"Master, that stupid bird—"

Arcanine wanted Julian to be the judge, but when it turned its head, it discovered that Julian had already disappeared.

Because Julian, already knowing how this would play out, had long since gone back inside to avoid getting a headache from the bickering between the dog and the bird.

The Golden Fire Stone could be left with Moltres for now.

After all, Arcanine's level had been reset, and it would take quite some time for it to climb back up to the Champion tier.

During this period, even with the Golden Fire Stone, Arcanine wouldn't be able to bring out much of its power.

Returning to the house, Julian found that Love had almost finished preparing lunch.

Looking at yet another table full of blood-nourishing dishes, Julian's face immediately fell. "Love, I'm fine now, perfectly healthy. Can we have hot pot tonight?"

Because Julian had sustained very severe injuries during the battle and had coughed up a lot of blood at the time, Love had been making blood-nourishing dishes for him every day recently.

In reality, Julian's injuries had mostly healed by the third day after the battle ended.

Yet he had been eating these dishes for over half a month straight, and many of them had a distinct herbal medicine taste that Julian simply couldn't stomach anymore.

Even Celebi and Jirachi, the two little foodies, now wore deeply pained expressions when lunch and dinner came around, and they were eating noticeably less than usual.

"Dee~"

Love shook its head with a stern face. "No, you need to keep eating these for three more days."

But seeing Julian's grimacing face, its heart couldn't help but soften, and it said in a gentler tone, "After lunch, we'll go to the hospital for a check-up. If everything's fine, you can have some hot pot tonight."

"I still have to go to the hospital? I know my own body best—I could take down Arcanine with my bare hands."

Julian flexed his biceps at Love.

"If you don't go, then you'll keep eating them for three more days," Love replied.

"Fine, fine! I'll go right after I finish eating."

Julian quickly agreed, not daring to argue any further.

"Dee~"

Love nodded in satisfaction and promptly ladled a full bowl of blood-nourishing soup for Julian.

Julian gritted his teeth and downed the bowl in one go, only for Love to serve him another.

Julian: ⊙o⊙

After managing to get through lunch with great difficulty, Love tidied up the dishes and then took Julian to the hospital for a check-up.

Since it was his family's own hospital, Julian's examination went very quickly. Even all sorts of detailed tests took just over an hour in total.

Some results took a bit longer to come back, so after everything was done, they waited another half hour before all the results were out.

"Dee?"

Love: "How is he?"

Love looked somewhat nervously at the doctor reading the reports.

The doctor understood what Love wanted to know and said, "Champion Walker's physical indicators are all exceptionally good."

"Dee~"

Love immediately breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed its medicinal cuisine had done the trick.

"See, I told you I was already fine," Julian said.

"However..."

Love's heart tightened again.

Julian: 'Can't you just finish what you're saying in one go?'

The doctor looked up at Julian, his eyes filled with both admiration and regret.

"However, Champion Walker's cells have aged extremely severely—far beyond what someone his age should exhibit. At this rate, Champion Walker's current lifespan should be—"

"Enough."

Julian said calmly.
